Every time I read Schopenhauer I take away something new. I think he was right when he said that a work of genius is able to reveal to its observer the precise quantity of his or her (Schopenhauer, alas, would say only his) depth. I have also come to the belief that Schopenhauer was probably the last of the great system-builders, his philosophy being an appropriate culmination of the systematic tradition.
