If, like me, you're a big fan of Speaking Parts, have seen it multiple times, and know it very well, Ron Burnett's dry academic essay will most likely be a waste of time. Egoyan's essay and interview are pretty worthwhile though.
I don't think the name of the dead brother, Clarence, was ever spoken in the film. But I just noticed that "Clarence" contains all the letters of "Lance", the name of his surrogate.
