In exchange for a copy of this book, I had been asked for my honest review.
I don't need to like asparagus to understand that there is an appeal for many. If there are scenes in a book that are not images from my own life, I can still appreciate the title. If you don't think that you would, or could, enjoy erotica, E.G. Patrick may be able to change your mind.
Adam and Violet are very well developed characters. Yes, we have a very, very wealthy business man and a proud, independent, bright woman trying to make her own mark on the world. Sounds like other books you have read or heard of? I would urge you to keep an open mind.
Like so many couples they have disagreements and periods of misunderstanding between them. Because we get duel POVs, the reader is able to get the inner perspective that each character may miss from one another.
The sex scenes are full fledged steamy. They are written with careful detail. You might swoon from a bedroom scene, or when Adam cooks a luscious dinner, or when he takes over blow drying Violet's hair. Something will attract you to the connection between this couple.
The secondary characters are not skimmed over and their impact is felt throughout the book. From Adam's secretary to Violet's best friend, their family members and household staff we learn pieces about Violet and Adam that would leave the book unsubstantial
This could have been a book all about the sexual relationship. Instead it is a book about people, their work, their likes in life and love, their fears, their needs and their goals.
It ends with unanswered questions, and if the example from "Revolving Door" to "Odyssey" is used, it will be a smooth transition. Don't expect to get those answers right away. Violet and Adam have a lot to join them but they will need to strengthen the bridge of trust between themselves.
