Got to say I love this condensed version of the Dragon Ball Super. I have watched the series, the movies, but this is my favorite medium. It starts after the Boo saga, to the introduction of Lord Beerus, and Goku reaching a power level he never knew existed. The fights are and art work are great and a lot of the time wasting is cutout. I want to say I loved this as a fan of the original series way back in the day, but the new direction it takes is so goofy that I sometimes had a hard time wanting to accept the "expansion" envisioned here.
I wasn't a fan of the whole "go-watch-the-movie-or-anime-to-know-what-happened" that was slid into some parts. Wish this manga actually adapted the whole anime (series and movies) instead.

SO damn happy I finally read this..
I'm going to be honest here, all this time I wasn't reading it cuz after all these years I was 100% sure I'm gonna hate it and that the only reason is back is to milk DB some more.
But dammit this is SO good. Brings back all the damn memories and it's in the same damn style and everything. I love it and I want it to go forever. Thank the Supreme Kais that I finally said fuck it and let's see if it's any good.

Wow, this was a nice surprise. I've heard mixed things about Super but I really dug this.
So what's happening the the world of dragon ball after buu is defeated? Oh yeah, Goku is trying to make enough money so Chi-Chi doesn't try to kick his butt. The first half of this book actually covers battle of the gods storyline from the movie. It speeds it up a bit, only hitting major notes, cutting out some big moments, and giving us a quick glance of the world it's trying to set up. The 2nd half os the ...more

Dragon Ball Z is one of my favorite series of all time, I've watched it multiple times in my childhood/teenager years and I still sit down to rewatch an episode if its airing on TV, is that good, unfortunely all of the sequels have been a disaster, GT was a joke and I've dropped Super after a dozen episodes, Super is nothing but an amalgam of rehashed ideas and concepts with little to no creativity, the edge/violence have been super toned down, the fighting scenes are slower and the animation st

This book was so amazing! We get the continuation of DBZ and its mostly the first few chs referencing the events of the movies with Battle of Gods referencing Beerus and then Freeza is there with Resurrection F, and we have the Red and Blue hair transformations which is super! This volume mostly deals with the fact that we have Champa, Beerus's twins who have a tournament for shifting earth as Uni 6 doesn't have one and this is where we get into the multiverse saga with Dragon Ball and its well

The story is fun and ridiculous. The replacement artist is great. But the pacing of the story is awful. It's pretty obvious that the manga is now second fiddle to the anime.

Dragon Ball Super is fun! I wasn't a fan of the fact that certain parts were totally skipped or seemed glossed over due to the movie releases covering the events, but otherwise the idea of the two universes fighting for the new super dragon balls is a neat idea. I'm still trying to decide if the alternate universe versions of established villains like Freiza is a brilliant way to showcase the new power levels attainable by Goku and Co. or just a lazy way to bring back established fan favorite vi

My fiance' loves this anime so much, so he has been majorly hyping this series at me to try to get me to love it, too. So, I decided to try reading the manga first. I am unimpressed. I might give it 1 more volume before dropping it.

Dragon Ball Super is the fourth series about one person Goku a saiyan who grew up on earth and reached god like power. Dragon ball is made by Akira Toriyama and is about insanely strong people that can use Ki to use energy attacks, fly, and get stronger. I've been watching the show with my son, and enjoying it nearly as much as I enjoyed DBZ. Season 1 follows the movie "Battle of Gods" and introduces Lord Beerus and Whis, as well as explains how to create a Super Saiyan God. Season 2 follows the movie "Resurrection F" and has SSG Goku and SSG Vegeta going up against Golden Freeza. As a rule of thumb, I generally prefer manga to their anime adaptations. This is mostly because the anime production schedule leads to massive amounts of filler, manifesting itself in episodes long showdowns if exposition and side plots that are totally unnecessary. I bring all that up because this manga adaptation of the Dragon Ball Super anime goes way too far in the other direction!

Having seen the Battle of Gods and having watched the DBS episodes every sunday till now, finally decided to give the Manga a read.
Firstly, I cannot even begin to describe the nostalgic feelings that this volume generated. It's not everyday that your favorite childhood series returns after more than a decade. I just can't figure out why I didn't read this sooner.

Reading these characters again certainly gave this nostalgia points. The theme is much more like Dragonball, less like Z. That's fine, though I myself always preferred the more serious tone of Z. That isn't a flaw though. I loved Dragonball as well. Problems I DID have with it are as follows. For one, the pacing. 1. Very poor. Toyotarou does a good job of doing Toriyama's art style, but the story doesn't work. It starts out very disjointed, referring the reader to either an anime or a stand-alone volume of manga (it's not clear which); then apparently skipping some events to Vegeta and Goku training, then to a tournament between universes.

I was so excited when I found out that Goku and Vegeta were coming back after fighting the once defeated Freiza. The Universe 6 and 7 tournament is just starting and boy it's already getting heated up. There are sure some suspicious characters though for example Hit and Frost. I mean how can you trust them Hit is the most deadly assassins in Universe 6.

Been reading since the first chapter been release for free and still gonna read it until it ends. Compare to the anime. Trust me this is better. (Except from the fight with Hit, the lack of seen where present Trunks confronting his alternate future self and the Gohan cameo from Zamasu arc)
I'd say it feels like bad fanfiction, but honestly, Dragonball has always been a bit of a mess.

I've recently read Dragon ball super, Warriors from Universe 6! by Akira Toriyama. I wanted to love this...but the manga is even weaker than the anime that I only just tolerate. The anime came first in this particular title so the manga adaptation is clunky at best, skipping the Resurrection F arc all together but heavily referencing it. "Hey watch our movie" shouldn't be a footnote in any manga ever.

This is entertaining, so far. I'm enjoying it. I haven't watched anything but clips of Super, so I don't know much about it.
I do know one thing, though: I love tournaments in the DBZ world, and a big chunk of this book is a tournament's beginning. Good stuff in the competition, right now.

I found this randomly at the local comic book shop. I figured that I may as well pick it up since a.) I hadn't seen it in the wild, and b.) I love Dragon Ball.
It turned out great. It follows the story from the newest DragonBall season, DragonBall Super, but only loosely since it skipped over a lot of the Battle of Gods and Resurrection F stories so that it could get right into the Universe 6 arc. Scoring is weird so I gave this five stars because it brought me back to browsing the manga section at Borders and Barnes & Noble. Anime had just started showing up on Cartoon Network by way of Toonami (classic childhood staple) and I fast fell in love with Dragon Ball Z, and then Dragon Ball. A brief whole series review to celebrate getting current on this series without throwing off my reading challenge results. Super has its moments, but as an exercise in storytelling it doesn’t hold a candle to the original series, although the series seemed to find its own stride around the Tournament of Power.
