SEAL's Christmas Dream by J.M. Madden

When Veterinarian Willow James' office is broken into, it's natural that she turn to her soul mate, former Navy SEAL K9 handler Joe Flynn, to track down the culprits. The trail leads to a notorious Pit-Bull fighting ring. It may take a Christmas miracle and a helpful nudge from an old partner to get everyone home safely.

Noel's Puppy Power by KaLyn Cooper

Tanner Hill is better at communicating with animals than women. That might be why he hasn’t had a second date in over two years. He’s also been extremely busy with his kennel that has become the premier training facility, specializing in supplying dogs to veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Then again, there is this psychologist he can’t get out of his head, or his heart.

Dr. Bailey Conrad would never allow the loss of half her right leg to an IED in Iraq to stop her. Every day at the VA hospital, she sees patients who have lost so much more to the war effort. It’s her goal in life to help as many vets as possible to find a 'new normal', because she knows firsthand, it’s the internal scars that can be the most difficult to heal.

Snowflake’s Gift by Lindsay McKenna

Two veterans—one human, one canine—have returned to Montana to recover from the traumas of war. FormerArmy Ranger Nick Conway depended on his WMD dog Snowflake to help him navigateIEDs on the battlefield. Now he needs his best friend to help him cope with hisPTSD and acclimate to civilian life. When he meets Holly McGuire and agrees to help her deliver meals to the elderly, her inner light calls to him, but his demons hold him back from giving in to his attraction. But Snowflake takes an immediate shine to the kindhearted Holly—and he has never led Nick down the wrong path.

I've lived six lives in one and it all shows up in the books I write, one way or another.

I was always a risk taker and broke mustangs at thirteen years old in Oregon. I learn to break them with love, not threat or pain.

At 17 years old, I picked night-crawlers (worms) out in our Oregon orchards from 9pm to midnight, every night. I earned enough money to buy my school clothes and book. I also plunked down $600 to a flight company at the Medford, Oregon airport and asked them to teach me...a girl...to fly. I soloed in 12 hours, which is average. From that time until I left for the US Navy at 18, I had accrued 39 hours of flight time in my Cessna 150 single engine airplane.

I was in the US military and was an AG3 (weather forecaster). There was no airplane club, so I couldn't fly when I was in the Navy. But I could look at the clouds in the sky ;-).

Later, I flew in a B-52 bomber for a day and night mission (18 hours total), a T-38 Talon jet, USAF, where I was riding in a "chase plane" on a test flight in a Dragonfly jet.

I was one of the first AFLA (American Fencing League of America) women fencers to fence with epee and sabre. These weapons were closed to women because they were too 'heavy' for a female to handle. I said baloney and fought the males and won half my bouts. I was part of a surge of women fencers on the East Coast in the 1970's to push for equality in the sport. Together, we changed the sport and changed the mind of the men. Today? In the Olympics? Women now fence in foil, epee and sabre, thanks to what we did as a vanguard showing the world it could be done.

I then became a volunteer firefighter when I was a civilian once more, the first woman in an all - male fire department in West Point, Ohio for three years. I became a local expert not only in firefighting, driving the engine and tanker trunks, but also had training in hazardous material (Reynoldsburg Fire Academy, Columbus, OH).

My books always reflect what I experienced. If you like edgy, gritty, deeply and emotionally intense love stories with sympathetic heroes and heroines, check out my newest series that will be available mid-Oct. 2015, and it incorporates much of what I have lived.

Enjoyed all three heart-warming Christmas stories, especially the last one by KaLyn Cooper. This is a great anthology, and I highly recommend it to all dog lovers, and anyone who loves well-written holiday tales. Happy reading!

Everyone of these little novella are a treasure of love, healing and of course puppies. Everyone should buy this book plus it befits a wonderful charity.

Snowflake's Gift by Lindsay McKenna was easily a 3.5 star story with a former Army Ranger Nick Conway who has returned home with his WMD and because of his PTSD he's washing dishes at his mother's restaurant. When he meets Holly McGuire one night when she picks up leftover food from the restaurant to shut ins. Her charity is partly funded by Delos Charity and Nick decides to help her out with both the packaging and delivering of the meals. The romance is great but the use of exclamation points wasn't needed plus it detracted from the story.

SEALs Christmas Dream by J.M. Madden-5 stars
I absolutely loved this novella and to be able to catch up with Willow and Flynn, their baby, Raven, plus everyone at the vet clinic.

Willow and Flynn have a baby daughter now but their is a teenager who sits by a tree outside with his dog everyday that have them wondering the complete story. Flynn is still bringing animals to Willow for care whether its a raccoon, or dog who has been used as bait for a fighting ring. He knows that his wife will heal them with her TLC.

Mateo would like to be a vet when he grows up and its not like he doesn't know how to care for animals as his older brother and father run a dog fighting ring. Its his job to care for them if his brother decides he doesn't want to. But when the dog he's been protecting is injured he knows that Willow will help him. He doesn't have alot of money but he will gladly work off his debt at the clinic.

There are twists and turns with Mateo's family when the clinic is broken into and Flynn sees his late MWD Mace again but all will be fine in the end and it will be the best Christmas ever for Willow, Flynn, Raven, Maya, Guinness and a few new additions to the family.

Noel's Puppy Power by KaLyn Cooper-5 stars

Tanner Hill runs a kennel that trains PTSD dogs for veterans and with the help of Dr. Bailey Conrad who recommends vets for his dogs. His dog goes into labor on Christmas Eve, soon their are five little male puppies born. When she starts to have trouble with the sixth one Bailey who had stopped by is there to welcome the first girl whom she promptly names Noel. Bailey is a former member of the team of women Black Swan but on one of their missions she accidentally steps on a IED and loses her leg. But with determination she goes back to school for her doctorate helping the vets who also have PTSD. She is also training for the Paralympics for track cycling, when Tanner gives her Noel for her PTSD they begin a romance that eventually leads to love.

Three books featuring dogs, a must-read!
Just finished SEAL's Christmas Dream, the latest addition to JM Madden's Lost and Found series. Loved catching up with Willow and Flynn, seeing how they are getting on two years since meeting, and that adorable baby girl of theirs... Heartwarming how their household and menagerie expands even further.
While there is little interaction with the other LNF regulars, we did get a little info about one of the other couples?! Counting the days to the release of Duncan's story Embattled Ever After in order to catch up with them all again.
Really enjoyed this story, and look forward to reading the 'full' version when it is published as a standalone in February!

Also planning to continue reading the other two stories in this book, but first some more LNF!

Romance with pets

I enjoyed all three of these short stories each one different story's of veteran's working with their therapy dog. Building a romantic relationship though never expecting to find someone to share their lives, given their PTSD, and hangups. Romantic

This review is based only on the story by JM Madden.

I love that with this one we get to see one of our former couples, still in love and living their HEA. What made it better for them was that they were able to help someone that needed it and add to their family.

I love collections, but I’ve really been having bad luck finding new ones that are any good. There were only 3 stories here, but only 1 was really worthwhile. Unfortunately, I look back on how much the collection costs, and I wish I wouldn’t have bothered. I would have rather waited for SEAL’s Christmas Dream to come out separately and bought it on its own. Regardless, I got through this collection with a couple of grains of salt. Individual ratings and reviews are listed below.

Snowflake’s Gift by Lindsay McKenna – 1 Star
Awful. Absolute torture to read and finish. It started out well enough, but even then I thought there could be some issues. As the story drug on and on and on, I knew my rating was going lower and lower. When I finally started skipping sections I knew all was lost. The worst offense is the juvenile writing. The author loves using exclamation points, even in narrative, which is slightly jarring and really gives a feeling of immaturity. She keeps repeating things over and over again, both in narrative and in what becomes pointless dialogue ("Could you help me on with my good, gray wool coat?"). If I didn’t know any better, I would think the author is a teenager and this is her first book (it had a distinct YA feel, like the MCs were in high school). I guess I liked Nick well enough, and Holly was fine at first, but then she felt more immature. Her incessant stating the obvious and asking stupid questions wore on me and she sounded more like a child herself instead of a confident woman. The story was soo long, boring, and drug out to the point that I almost stopped reading more times than I can count. I really hope the rest of the collection is better, because this story really makes me want my money back.

SEAL’s Christmas Dream by J.M. Madden – 5 Stars
I read Willow and Flynn’s original story, so this was a fun way to play catch up. I actually bought this collection for this story. My only “issue” was the extended bits of backstory. Obviously for someone like me it was unnecessary, but I can obviously see how it would be needed for a newbie to the series.

Noel’s Puppy Power by KaLyn Cooper – 3 Stars
I liked the characters well enough, but there was far too much of nothing going on for the story to flow like it should have. Basically the whole story was about the boring day-to-day details of two people who like each other, but apparently not enough to find time for dating. There was so much here that felt like a waste of time. The story had potential, but fell short with mundane details that didn’t encourage the “budding” romance. Here the romance was almost non-existent and took a back seat to the MC’s own lives.

In Snowflake's Gift, Ms. McKenna balances the anguish of a returning Vet, Nick Conway, suffering from the ravages of war, to the amazing woman, Holly McGuire, who captures his wild heart. Snowflake is Nick's second military service dog, as he lost his beloved Duke in Afghanistan. The beauty within these pages is a testament to our ability to overcome pain, both physical and mental and rejoice in the love that is shared. Holly, finds with Nick, the peace she so desperately needs after losing her parents in a car crash and a sister, through suicide. With boundless energy, she gives her time and resources to the elderly who have no one to care for them.

Seal's Christmas Dream by JM Madden is a poignant and beautifully written story about a Veterinarian, Willow, operating a clinic where she finds herself primarily treating animals attacked due to illegal dog fights. With her husband Flynn and 6 month old daughter Raven, her schedule is insane, as she tries to handle the stresses of her practice, as well as take care of the love of her life, as he deals with his PTSD issues. There is joy and heartache within, yet the author has uplifted us by her creative spirit, treating us with characters, four legged and two legged who will become part of our heart forever.

Noel's Puppy Power is such a delight to read. It's impossible not to fall in love with Tanner Hill, trainer for military service dogs. KaLyn Cooper has written a wonderful story about the power of the human spirit to endure life's challenges and realize dreams.

From the first page, when Tanner is “helping” his dog deliver her puppies, to his meeting Dr. Bailey Conrad, a psychologist and ex special forces vet who works with veterans to find the right service dog, the pages fly by as this engrossing story takes shape.

Bailey lost part of her leg when an IED blew up. Facing enormous odds, she decides to train for the Paralympics for their race in Rio. She and Tanner are wildly attracted to each other but with their demanding schedules, they have little time to be together. Unbeknownst to Bailey, Tanner has started college, in the hopes of earning a degree he had always wished for. Between all the characters and the extraordinary animals, don't miss this treasure.

Kudos to these exceptional authors for this wonderful collection!

This was three stories in one book, all revolving around dogs in some way or another. I really enjoyed it.

Holly's known a lot of tragedy in her young life. Her parents died in a car accident and her sister committed suicide due to a severe case of PTSD. Nick is a war vet suffering from PTSD. He has a dog, Snowflake. I loved the interaction between the main characters. It was especially touching when they find a stray that appears to be starving and was obviously a victim of abuse. Little by little they get her to come to them but Snowflake is the real hero when it comes to Lady.

Joe and Willow Flynn rescue injured and abused animals. Willow is a veterinarian while Joe works for Lost and Found, helping people who are in trouble or need rescued. Joe suffers from PTSD. When a young man begins hanging out around the vet's office, Willow and Flynn are suspicious at first, although he has a dog with him. It turns out, Matteo's father is operating an illegal dog fighting ring. If he knew Matteo was harboring one of the dogs, Matteo would be in for a beating. When Matteo's dog becomes severely dehydrated because Matteo can't get away to take care of him, Matteo takes the animal to Willow. In return for the dog's treatment, Willow hires Matteo to help her in the office. This, in turn, puts them all in danger because of Matteo's father.

Tanner trains service dogs for vets. Bailey is a psychologist who works with veterans with PTSD. She puts them in touch with Tanner and together they find the perfect dog for that particular vet. Bailey lost the lower part of her leg after accidentally tripping an IED. She and Tanner are attracted to one another but Tanner feels completely out of her league. Thankfully, a cute little puppy named Noel helps get them together.

All three stories were fun to read with the canine connection although I have to confess that a couple of times I teared up over the dogs who had been abused. If you like Christmas stories and love dogs then this one is for you.

This book proved to be an excellent read. All three stories are good, heartwarming stories well worth the time taken to read them. Lindsay McKenna's "Snowflake's Gift" is about a veteran that has returned from active duty with his WMD dog. Trying to acclimate to civilian life is hard and Nick's PTSD makes it that much trickier. If it wasn't for his canine companion he'd have a much harder time. He agrees to help Holly McGuire deliver meals to shut ins in exchange for an apartment in a complex she manages. This is a warm, touching story of two people trying to get their lives in order and how, with the help of one very special dog, many lives are changed.
In J.M. Madden's "S'EAL's Christmas Dream" we get to visit Joe Flynn and his veterinarian wife, Willow, along with Joe's dog, Maya. For those of you who are fans of Ms. Madden, these characters are from an earlier novella, but you can read this story and not be lost even if you haven't read the earlier book. Joe and Willow have a new baby to deal with along with a malnourished, skiddish stray dog they are trying to help. Oh, and did I mention the young man hanging around with a dog of his own that need assistance. This is a very busy story, but one that is well written and filled with twists and turns I think you'll love.
Last, but not least, KaLyn Cooper's "Noel's Puppy Power" brings us Tanner Hill, who runs a kennel and trains service dogs for vets with PTSD, and Dr. Bailey Conrad, a psychologist and veteran who lost part of her leg from an IED in Iraq. She helps him find the right veteran for his dogs. This is a sweet story of how they find the courage to trust their feelings and take a chance on each other. We get to see the ladies of the Black Swan from Ms. Cooper's newest series and it's interesting to see how Tanner recognized their stress and worked to help them as well as Bailey. Get your copy today. Well worth your money and time.

Three good novellas about dogs and Christmas. McKenna's story is about a vet with PTSD, his dog and the young woman he meets who works for an elder charity through Delos. Snowflake is an Australian shepherd, who became Nick's service dog after he lost his original MWD. Holly McGuire works for Delos and meets Nick at his mother's diner where she takes the leftover food to her elder clients. They see a Lab running away one day, and the story of the love growing between Nick and Holly and the love of the two of them for Lady the Lab, as they try to gentle her enough to get her to come in from the cold, is a sweet one.

SEAL's Christmas Dream is about Joe and Willow Flynn from Lost and Found Investigative in Denver. When Willow takes in a badly maltreated dog, she and Joe recognize the signs of dog fighting. A young man with a scrawny dog is helped and then comes to them when his dog is in the same condition. He begins to open up to them, and they find each other for the holiday.

Noel's Puppy Power is the story of an army vet who trains dogs for former servicemen who need service dogs. He works with a psychologist who is beautiful, skilled and an amputee veteran. They find each other attractive, but Tanner thinks she is out of his league. Noel is the only female pup in a litter of five that Bailey helps deliver. All of the pups are being bred as service dogs. Bailey is also training for the Paralympics, so even though she and Tanner find each other attractive, they can't find time in their schedules for an actual date.
They finally make it work and Noel is the happy puppy prize.

Noel's Puppy Power by KaLyn Cooper

A cute story with an adorable puppy! ;) I liked both Tanner and Bailey--he trains service dogs for veterans (and the veterans themselves, LOL) and she's a psychologist who certifies the veterans who go on to get one of Tanner's dogs. So inspirational...and did I mention there's puppies?

The story could have benefited from a longer format, though--as a novella, it didn't seem like we quite had all of the background between the two (it's part of a series, so maybe there was groundwork laid in other books?) and the story itself felt a bit choppy at times. I would have loved to have seen more of their actual work, both with the dogs and the veterans--we mostly just were told that they'd been working after the fact. (Their relationship--and Noel, the puppy--were the focus, which was necessary given the short page count. But still...)

Bailey, who lost part of her leg when an IED exploded was also training to be a paralympian. That part too, I would have loved to see more of--especially the really exciting part that I'm not going to bring up, because--spoilers!

Again, novella. I know.

In spite of its limitations, I did enjoy Noel's Puppy Power, and am looking forward to reading the other two stories when I have time. Darn grad school! ;)

Dog Tags For Christmas is an awesome trio of books with a Christmas theme, by three amazingly talented authors. These three books are novella length, so a perfect choice for those with limited time for reading. Each book is a well written standalone, no cliff-hangers.
Snowflake's Gift by Lindsay McKenna is the story of Nick, a vet with PTSD and Holly, a charity worker that delivers meals to the elderly. Ms McKenna has gifted us with lovable characters and a touching story.
SEAL's Christmas Dream by J.M. Madden is Willow and Flynn's story. I adored this couple in Ms Madden's Lost & Found series so I was happy to find this was another story with them as the main characters. Ms Madden has packed this book with suspense, humor and a bit of sizzle and will keep you glued to your kindle from start to finish.
Noel's Puppy Power by KaLyn Cooper is Tanner and Bailey's story. Tanner trains service dogs and Bailey is a veteran that lost part of her leg and is training for the Paralympics. Ms Cooper has loaded Noel's Puppy Power with an amazing array of characters, drama, humor and spice. You can't help but cheer this couple on from start to finish.
I enjoyed all three of these fantastic books, even if it is closer to Halloween than Christmas. I look forward to reading more from these fantastic authors in the future.

I have to state that I love it when a story that was once part of an anthology is expanded upon!

We all have our "go to" authors, ones whom we feel really do their research into the subject matter in their books. This one in particular deals with PTSD and flashbacks to loss on the battlefield. Our hero Joe Flynn is written so well and in such a manner you feel as if he's someone you know. His partner, mother of his child and love of his life Willow James D.V.M. is another one of those fictional characters that you can see as being someone you could know and be friends with in real life.

The story lines of Ms. Madden's books are realistic and deal with real life situations. This book in particular deals with PTSD, domestic violence, animal abuse, drugs, and a local dog fighting ring- none of which are subjects to be taken lightly. Ms. Madden writes in such a manner that grabs your attention and brings the story to you in such a manner that you can not put it down! I read this book in one sitting and I blocked out the world! I was a sobbing mess i some parts and the ending had me crying tears of joy! I've read the story twice and It's going to be in my "read again" folder on my kindle.

First, let me say that this group of stories benefits a great charity. I always love reading about Vets and their dogs because I love to read about the bond between them…and I love animals. I had my favorite in Snowflake, in Snowflake’s Gift by Lindsay McKenna. I think if a dog could talk, it would be Snowflake. Great story between Nick and Holly that touches on many different parts of not only the holidays and how Snowflake helps Nick and his PTSD, but how tough most times of the year are for seniors, abandoned animals, military service and its effects on families…it will warm your heart, break your heart, and give you a warm feeling all rolled into one. In SEAL’s Christmas Dream, the story about the pit-bull fighting ring broke my heart. But Willow and Joe, and their “family”, will make you believe in the holidays again. In Noel’s Puppy Power, Tanner and Bailey are a very sweet story that will make you smile. Some of the parts of Bailey’s background will surprise you and make you do a fist pump. I really enjoyed these stories!

Seal's Christmas Dream
J. M. Madden

Since Seal's Lost Dream, Joe Flynn and Willow James have had a lot of changes in their lives. In the past year, he and Willow have married, started a family and Flynn has found a new furry friend/partner who helps him cope with his PTSD. Juggling motherhood and work keeps Willow's hands full, but it doesn't deter her from helping those in need-both the two and four legged variety.
Stray animals, one special boy, and the Flynn family are about to discover miracles really do happen at Christmas!

I love the Lost and Found series and getting to revisit Willow and Flynn is like having an early Christmas present! Madden delivers another successful entry into the Lost and Found series with enjoyable characters, tender moments, canine antics, and a strong storyline.

Not only do I love the concept behind this book, I also love the three novellas and the puppies too. All three books were wonderful reads but Noel's Puppy Power by Kalyn Cooper has to be my favorite because it brought me closer to my Dad & Mom for a bit. You see one of Bailey's Paralympic teammates was stationed in Aviano, Italy. My Mother's step-father was stationed there when my Mom was a teenager & My Dad was also stationed there & it is where they met. I have several pictures of them together at various places in Aviano. It is also where my Dad asked her to marry him when she was a little older, she said yes of course lol. I wish they were still with us so I could share this with them. At least it brought back some good memories. Thank you so much. I really love it when the book I'm reading with something from my life or others I care about.

I love dogs and being a veteran myself stories that involved veterans are near and dear to my heart.
If you love dogs and military love stories then you MUST read this.
JM. Madden gives us an awesome addition to her Lost and Found series with two of my favorite characters getting a Christmas miracle. If you haven't read her series you are in for a treat cause she will always be my favorite author of wounded warriors. Be sure and go back and get your self hooked on her amazing series.
KaLyn Cooper does it again with another glimpse of her Black Swan world, which I'm a huge fan of. I loved seeing the girls come to cheer their friend on her in Para olympics guess. I feel so in love with the dogs in this story it was hard to decide which I loved more then or the main characters.

I truly enjoyed these 3 Christmas stories by these amazing authors. These stories are thoughtful, sweet and reminds me of the true spirit of Christmas. I am a huge dog lover and have the utmost respect for vets and military personnel. These stories truly captured my heart and soul. J.M. Madden had me in tears with her Seal's Christmas Dream, such a touching story... just to clarify, it was happy tears! It was my first introduction to Kalyn Cooper and I will definitely read more of her books! Lindsay's story was so sweet and I fell in love with the two dogs, Snowflake and Lady.

SEAL's Christmas Dream: Flynn has always been one of my favorites with his love of animals and bringing in strays. His wife, Willow, runs the vet while caring for their baby girl, Raven. The couple has a loving connection to dogs and can't stand to see one in poor health. They manage to uncover a dog fighting ring and pick up a few strays for their own home. This one pulled on my heart many times.

I've never met a KaLyn Cooper story I didn't enjoy, and Noel's Puppy Power is no exception! A hot guy who raises service dog puppies? How much better can it get? The heroine is no pushover either. This sweet Christmas story is not to be missed. I'm sure you'll enjoy Tanner and Bailey's story just as much as I did!
