Principles of Polymer Systems

Rate this book
Principles of Polymer Systems, 5th Edition, offers a comprehensive view of polymers which is aimed at junior and senior undergraduate and first-year graduate students pursuing a program in science, chemical engineering or materials science. The book meets interdisciplinary needs and is equally accessible to students in such parallel fields as applied biology (biomedical materials, food and pharmaceutical studies), textiles and electronics.

The chemical engineering perspective has been retained and strengthened in this new edition, and the broad applications of polymers in chemistry and materials science is addressed. The theoretical basis for various topics has been deepened and further enhanced and several new topics are discussed. These changes reflect the rapidly growing recognition by all scientists and engineers of the role polymers play in industry. Electronics and medicine are representative areas that require more than a passing knowledge of macromolecular principles. Both areas receive attention in this edition. Some new end-of-chapter problems have been added. A revised solutions manual with some supplemental material is also available to qualified instructors.
