This is second in a series, but it takes place in a different town; and characters from the first are only present in cameo. So you don't really need to read these in order if you don't want to.
This was kind of awesome. Zoe and Grant are the kind of complementary opposites that make for sparkling banter and fun conflict and a relationship that you can see being important and meaningful to both. My thanks to Entangled Teen Crush via Netgalley for providing me with a free review copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this book as much as I'd hoped to. There were a few things I liked, and the potential was there, but with more attention to detail and some actual chemistry between the two main characters, it could have been a lot better.

Young Adult age-range: 13+ due to kissing.
The Boyfriend Bet is the second title in the Boyfriend Chronicles series. Its connection to Blackmail Boyfriend is via Jane- Zoe's cousin.
There was a lot to love in the Boyfriend Bet. It started out sassy, take-no-prisoners, with quirky characters from young adults to the grandparents. I appreciated the addition of two introverts, one young and one a parent, but not the implicat ...more

My Entangled Teen obsession might start to become a problem. All of the books from their House are adorable and tell a story that I love reading. Don’t expect them all to be light, but The Boyfriend Bet had that wonderful quality.

Zoe, this books heroine, is the reason I stopped reading YA books. I can't stand heroines like her. She was an immature drama queen who had so much potential at first but ruined everything in the process. She was trying to do something good like being mad at Grant, but her eyes were searching the room for him and he was making her melt. I don't like heroines who forget everything because a guy is hot. She should have gone and get rid of him, but nooooooooooo she was too weak to resist him. Girls

Well...huh... So I started this book and I was just thrilled!! I was LOVING it! I thought Zoe was so sassy and snarky, and I loved the bantering interplay between her and Grant. Honestly I was smiling and laughing all the time. I know Zoe was a bit dramatic, but honestly I just thought she had a bit of a temper and was a bit over the top. She and her ...more

If you liked or loved Chris Cannon's Blackmail Boyfriend, then you'll like or love this one, too. While some of the tropes used in this book are different from those of her earlier romantic comedy, there are several similarities. First, while this book takes place about 45 minutes away from the setting of the previous book, it is in the same world. You'll even catch a glimpse of one of the main characters because she is Zoe Cain's cousin, and they hang out together.

This was my first read by Chris Cannon and I enjoyed it a lot! This book follows Zoe and Grant as they experience high school while battling their different views on relationships.
Zoe is the type to speak her mind no matter what and can be impulsive at times. Usually, when a heroine is impulsive, I tend to roll my eyes at her a lot and ignore her but that wasn't the case here. I honestly can't remember the last time I enjoyed the hero ...more

The Boyfriend Bet was the first book by Chris Cannon I've read. In fact before reading it I haven't even heard of Chris Cannon.
I was really excited when I started The Boyfriend Bet. I really liked the premise of this book and was excited to read it. I was disappointed however because the main love interest Grant was a jerk who continually mistreated Zoe yet she continued to forgive him. He not only checked out another girl on their date but admitted he had not specified they were dating exclusively so he was free to date other people. Now I don't know about you but if a guy asked me out I would just assu ...more

Zoe doesn't like being told what to do. When her brother, Jack, tells her she shouldn't even consider Grant as boyfriend material, she sets out to prove him wrong. Grant was immediately roped into Zoe's antics, which he totally didn't mind. Both of these characters were in for more than what they bargained for.
"Grant, do you have a girlfriend who would mind if you kissed me to piss off my brother?"
In answer, he leaned down and pressed his ...more

Right from the start this story is totally engaging and packed with laugh out loud moments! It has great characters and a very feisty female lead in Zoe Cain. Zoe is about to start at Wilton High School, which her older brother, Jack, already attends. The students there tend to be divided into two cliques according to their family background - the snobs or geeks and the hicks or farm kids. Zoe and her brother are in the latter group, they live on a farm with their mother and grandmother. Jack ha

***I had to edit my review after reading the second book in the Boyfriend Chronicles Series from Chris Cannon. Now I'm definitely up to 5 stars again, because all my questions for the other characters in the book (besides the main characters) are now answered. Love that the story kind of continues with new main characters that were already introduced! ;)***

Soooo....this was the definition of an unhealthy relationship. And that's saying something coming from me since I also read romances with trigger warnings.
Zoe is a doormat manic pixie girl with violent tendencies that should come with a future stalker warning. Grant is a slimy arrogant douchebag who treats his date like shit more than once because other girls rate higher than her and gets offended when she doesn't trust him.

Love the book. I thought it would be a cheesy book about a silly bet just like all those teen movies from the 90s. But it had strong characters and a few twists and turns. It was sweet and a quick read. Well written and enjoyable. A great book to read on a hot night.
I was given this book to read and review from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

The Boyfriend Bet, Chris Cannon’s second contemporary romance, is a light, airy, funny read. I read it over the course of two evenings, and it was such a nice break from the heavier YA paranormal I usually read.
Zoe Cain is brash, somewhat unsteady, and very stubborn. So when her brother warns her away from Grant Evertide, Zoe does the only logical thing she can think of: she kisses him. Because, who wouldn’t, right? And of course she likes it because, again, who wouldn’t, right? What follows is ...more

You guys! I have found my new favourite book and this is it! To prove to you how good it is, let me tell you this: I started it in the bath, and finished it before bed on the same night. I literally read it in two sittings, because I just couldn’t put it down. Very, very rarely does a book do that to me, but it did! And I loved every page, and more often than not I wanted to bash Zoe and Grant’s heads against one another because never before in the contemporary YA universe (seriously, I challeng

Remember Nathan Scott from Season 1 of One Tree Hill? Grant Evertide was basically Nathan Scott from the first two episodes—the one that flirted with all the girls, had some questionable choices, and dark hair and amazing eyes. I tried to figure out why I liked him so much from the beginning, even though he had the tendency to be a jerk, and that was why. I saw the redeemable side of him, so did Zoe Cain. Grant told half of the story, and being inside of his head, figuring out how he navigated t ...more

Grant sets his sites on his nemesis's sister, Zoe, as a way to aggravate him. Zoe is his total opposite, but the more he gets to know her the more he finds himself liking her. Zoe is a sassy, impulsive girl who finds herself falling for Grant, despite the warnings her brother gives her about the kind of guy Grant is. Can Zoe and Grant find love when Grant's a player afraid of commitment and Zoe is looking for her own HEA?

This was fun at times, and very appropriately YA Romance, but I had a hard time buying the relationship between Grant and Zoe. Zoe was a seriously melodramatic drama queen who went crazy over the smallest of things. At the beginning of this, I loved her confidence and sass, and the banter between her and Grant. But then, all of that confidence disappeared.
And Grant was great... until he just kept being annoyed and frustrated about Zoe wanting more. Usually, with this type of romance, the "I don' ...more

If you want a quick and adorable read - this is it.
Set in high school, Grant and Zoe start a relationship that will knock you off your chair laughing.
Perfect for teens who want to have a good laugh because it was hilarious , from the grandmother to the extra characters- there was never a dull moment.
I am looking forward to the next installment, hopefully it is Aidan, Dalia and Zoe's brother in that next book. ;)

“My mom says no guy is perfect, you just have to find one that makes you happy seventy percent of the time.” That was an odd equation. “What about the other thirty percent?” “That’s the time you fantasize about hitting him in the head with a frying pan.” I laughed. “So prince charming is a guy you only want to kill a third of the time? That doesn’t sound right.” “No one’s perfect.”
