Discovering the New Testament is a great overview of the books of the New Testament. It gives excellent historical context in order that the reader can come to a much better understanding of the purpose/message(s) of each book. In regards to the authorship and dating of each book, it gives contrasting views and often discusses the reasoning for each. Throughout each chapter, the book provides "color-coded sidebars with brief but useful information on topics related to biblical interpretation, theology, history, and cultural and literary features found in the New Testament" (pg. 12). These are fun and helpful as you are reading. I will use this book for future reference as I read in the New Testament!

I read this for my ministry prep class with Nazarene Bible College. It was an insightful read, the author showed a lot of viewpoints and gave a well rounded background on the New Testament books. Having this as a resource is very helpful to refer back to.
