trying to read more in hebrew and found this book laying around in my house. mostly read it to practice the language. i think it had potential, but ended up just being all over the place. the kidnapping, the death of the husband, the kidnapping again, going to jail, the abusive marriage, the paralysis, the cancer, like slow
d o w n… i really think Oren would have been better off just sticking to one or two of those things and expanding on them, because you just cannot capture the realism of this many traumatizing events in under 300 pages. the dialogues felt unrealistic and empty, and the ending was disproportionately fairy tale like in comparison to the rest of the book. i was interested in the plot, but had one too many “really?” moments.
