Caspar Willard "Cap" Weinberger was an American politician and Secretary of Defense under President Ronald Reagan from January 21, 1981, until November 23, 1987, making him the third longest-serving defense secretary to date, after Robert McNamara and Donald Rumsfeld. He is also known for his role in the Strategic Defense Initiative program.

Caspar Weinberger was Secretary of Defense for six years during Ronald Reagan's administration. This is a fairly typical "thriller" story line; POTUS is assassinated and a Secret Service agent's service weapon is used. Said agent manages to elude capture, the chase is on and the conspiracy broadens. The climax was a little too tricked up for my taste but the I don't consider the time spent reading it was a waste.

Not that I liked the story (the 3 stars I gave) and all the acronyms used for the military, but it was a book that certainly moved along. A very unsettling book to say the least. Story of the assassination of the President and the Vice President taking over and declaring marshal law.

I was pleasantly surprised by how taut and suspenseful this book remained until the very end. About a Secret Service agent framed for the assassination of the President, who runs away in an attempt to try and gather proof of what really happened. Likable, believable characters and, as I said, a very suspenseful story.

I enjoyed this books and found it interesting to read how Secret Service Office Mike Delaney survives being hunted by the military and dozens of agencies. However it was pretty easy to find out who was behind the terrorist attacks.

Really enjoyed this book about the country being taken over by an unscrupulous president and his staff. Scary to think this could happen. George liked this one also.
