Shakespeare: A Crash Course

Shakespeare is help up as a poet who belongs to the whole world, and his work is endlessly translated, plagiarized, and recycled (it must be maddening to miss out on all those royalties through being dead for nearly 400 years). Who could be more deserving of a Crash Course to hold the critical mirror up to the popular myth? Read this little book and brush up on your Bard.
• a concise guide to the works of a literary giant
• gives a picture of the man behind the words
• seasoned with snippets of theatrical gossip and superstition
• includes a glossary of Shakespearean terminology

I think the reason I like Rob Graham's version of Shakespeare History is that he puts humor into it.
He also includes an ongoing timeline of cool historical facts that occurred not only during Shakespeare's times but past and future events that stemmed from the Elizabethan era and how Shakespeare's works and his contemporaries shaped the future of theatre and film.
He touches on all points of Shakespeare: every genre of his plays, his really popular titles, his contemporaries, his life, speech, word usage, copyright plagiarism, his sexuality, his married life, his sonnets and poetry, the politics of the time, and other cool historical facts.
