This collection of essays by the legend Robert Greenleaf is not only informative but truly impactful. I greatly enjoyed studying each essay individually and the collection as a whole, and know that I will take the wisdom I have gleaned with me into my future career in ministry –religious leadership! Here are my top ten insights from Greenleaf's 31 essays compiled as Seeker & Servant:
Insight 1: Be a thermostat, not a thermometer.
Insight 2: Servant Leaders were not created to conform to the status quo.
Insight 3: Servant Leaders must be willing to serve without ever gaining any recognition or reward for their service.
Insight 4: The more you seek, the more you will find.
Insight 5: A Servant Leader must be childlike.
Insight 6: Age is neither a prerequisite nor a disqualifier for leadership, for either the young or the old.
Insight 7: A Servant Leader seeks to invite others into the work that is being done through them, rather than begging for money.
Insight 8: Servant Leaders do not throw stones and expect others to respond well, but rather lead by the example they wish for others to follow.
Insight 9: A Servant Leader recognizes the framework of the person they are dealing with and nurtures them accordingly.
Insight 10: Pride must die in you, or nothing of heaven can live in you/
