Jodi Nichols isn’t the most romantic girl on the planet. She doesn’t get mushy over fictional love stories, or picture herself getting swept away by a handsome hero. She’s much too grounded in reality—and much too busy working as a concierge at the luxurious Regent hotel. Helping customers is Jodi’s passion in life, and while romance may be on the back burner for now, she ...more

Jodi isn't your typical girl. She doesn't melt through movies and books and isn't very romantic at heart. Her friends are determined to help her find love and to see the world outside of her job. She's a concierge at a luxury hotel and lives and breathes for work, enjoying the challenge of dealing with difficult customers. Although Jodi is a workaholic, she is likable and semi-clueless about life, which brings her down to a human level. When her bookstore working friend gives her a dating manual ...more

Boyfriend by the Book was definitely a cute, fluffy read. While I couldn't relate to the thinking of the classical women it referred to, nor to the classical men, I did enjoy reading it. It got me thinking I should start reading some classics. Or at least watching the movies so I can get the references! Haha.

This was my first Laura Briggs book, and I can say that I was not disappointed. I enjoyed the light humor, mixed with some romance. The plot moved at a decent pace; although, I did feel, at

While I didn't like this story as much as I have others by this author, it was still an enjoyable read.
The story had an interesting premise, though I didn't always follow the execution (okay, I have not read all the original stories, so I might have missed the finer points).

I liked both Jodi and Levi, though I didn't care much for Jodi's friends.

P.S. Did I miss the explanations for the paint-splattered pants, BTW? If we did, I somehow missed it.

This story is a feel-good book. It has the right mix of romance and humor, served by fun characters you can't help but like.

Jodi loves her job at the Regent hotel. She keeps the clients happy, and it’s not an easy task. I know it because I have been a client, and even if I am the sweetest and most patient one, not everyone is like me. If Tom Cruise wants a giant gold fountain in the middle of his suit, she must get one. Even if it means building it with her own hands. Poor fountain. I’m drifting

Boyfriend by the Book is a fabulous read and a wonderful idea for a book, bringing the classics into modern day life. Who hasn't dreamt of meeting their very own modern-day Mr Darcy or Romeo? Before I go all dreamy about Mr Darcy, let's see what I thought about the book...

Too late...I've gone all dreamy about Darcy...

...Anyway, Jodi is a typical workaholic, she loves her job and goes above and beyond the call of duty to be the best concierge she can be. Although she has a harmless flirtation goi

This book captivated my attention from the first page to the very last, I loved it. It is the cutest story I have read in a while. With the good influence of classic books mixed in with good old easy read chick lit, its perfect for an lazy day feel good read.

Jodi is single, and all her friends are happily coupled up. So when one of her friends who works in a bookshop finds a book, which all the friends agree will help Jodi find love, the fun begins. They describe her as ‘romantically challenged”

My thoughts:

The character of Jodi is very likeable and under pressure from her best friends she decides to follow their advice. Unfortunately everything doesn't go to plan and she finds herself in some tricky situations. Along the way we meet some potential love interests but who is Mr Right? I really enjoyed the journey that Jodi took to find her happy ever after. It did take me a while to warm to her friends as I felt they were pushing her to do something she didn't want to do. However in the
Aimee (Getting Your Read On)
This is what I would call a fluffy fun book. It's not to be taken too seriously and doesn't deal with any major life issues. It's a surface read meant to make you smile and provide a couple hours of distraction. At least, that's what it did for me.

The blurb sums up the book and then some so by reading it, you will get the whole idea of the book. And what you read is exactly what you get. Jodi works a lot and doesn't date much. Her friends are all up in her business, trying to get her to date. So

Violence: none
Language: no swears
Sex: nope

I had high hopes for this book, but it was predictable--I know, weird for a romance novel, but it was as if the writer decided on a formula and plugged in everything, but there was no "heart" in it at all. It is a cute premise, but I didn't care at all about the heroine. I do appreciate that it was clean as far as sex and language goes.
