After I received this via interlibrary loan from my library, I discovered it's not what I was looking for: a book about modern machine embroidery using sewing machine specifically designed for embroidery.

This is freeform embroidery done with a regular sewing machine (as far as I can tell from the pictures). There are very intricate techniques and designs in this book, but if you're looking for a book on using a computerized embroidery/sewing machine with hoops that are moved around by the machine, look elsewhere.

My rating is based on what it contains, not what I wished it contained. The techniques are for the most part stunning, but I don't find most of the designs appealing, so it's just an "OK" book for me.
