THE Indian cookbook...amazing recipes, written like a novel and it actually teaches the reader to experiment with spices themselves. Hands down my favourite cook book.

Almost impossible to rate a book like this. I have read a LOT of Indian cookbooks and I keep coming back to this one for the systematic breakdown of elements and combinations of ingredients.

I would seriously consider setting up a high-end Indian cooking school in the future. Or maybe Asian-Indian-Caribbean on a vacation spot island- post-apocolypse, of course. That sounds like a perfect life.

Keep it together, world. This food is certainly proof that there is bliss to be had on earth.

Tonight: dahl, honeyed pecans with green beans, and okra curry. All delicious, and educational! Highly logistical experience given that we only have two saucepans and two frying pans (and two hands each). Think I'm getting the hang of working with these spices, though, and excited for whatever recipe we try next :)

Lived learning about how different spices work together for meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. Not a traditional recipe, but an amazing walk through the flavours of India.
