If the cover and title of this book doesn't interest you, the first chapter is sure to! This book is written in such an engaging and entertaining style you will not want to put it down. I found myself interested throughout every chapter of this paperback book. It is easy to learn from an author who is humble and honest about her own failures and weaknesses. Mothers will appreciate Lisa Pennington's insight and experience from raising  and homeschooling nine children. All readers will love the au ...more

Lisa Pennington was truly inspired when she wrote her book Tightropes and Teeter-Totters: Finding Balance in the Ups and Downs of Life. As the title indicates, this book discusses how to find balance in life. Whether it is during the good times or the bad times. Pennington discusses different ways to find Balance by using acronyms—Begin; Assess; Learn; Account; Notify; Change; and Endure. These can be used in all aspects of life, including finding time for oneself, finding time as a couple, find ...more

Tightropes and Teeter-Totters is Lisa Pennington’s recent book for women but to me it was like a real chat with a dear friend. Lisa’s writing was very down to earth, humorous (tears rolling down my face laughing), uplifting, and helpful. At times it was like she was holding up a mirror to my life and I could see how very much I was out of balance. That is what I really liked about this book. We as women tend to want to be in control and we strive for perfection which neither one are an attainabl ...more

Every mother I have ever met, no matter what walk of life she is from, struggles with balance in her life. This book offers very helpful ways of finding where your life is out of balance and how to bring it back into balance. I loved the author’s humor sprinkled throughout. This is a very helpful and encouraging resource for mothers everywhere. Full review at my website. I received this book complimentary as a participant of the Litfuse Blog Tour. I was not required to give a positive review. Al ...more

Do you wish you could keep all the different elements of life in balance? Perhaps a book with some humorous stories, a Godly perspective, and joyful triumphs? This is the one for you. As Lisa points out in the beginning of her book, she wants to show you that life is like "a love story between me and God. Or you and God". And it's gooood.

I've read Lisa's blog, some of her children's blogs, and feel like I kind of "know" the family. So it was an "of course, I'm going to read the new Pennington

Tight Ropes and Teeter-Totters by Lisa Pennington is a funny, down-to-earth book about marriage, motherhood, and everything in between! The book has pages filled with fresh ideas; such as, the idea of "BALANCE" (Begin, Assess, Learn, Account, Notify, Change, Endure) acronym that Lisa applies to each area of life, helping the reader find and apply balance to every corner of life. Pennington covers a variety of aspects of life that require balance.

One of my favorite parts was how Pennington uses h

The author starts off by describing the old teeter totters on the playgrounds (I loved them!) and how falling is a part of life and that life is about balance. "Falling, getting up, trying again, over and over, is how we learn."

Balance is NOT about perfection, control, comfort, or the exact formula (because one specific thing doesn't work for everyone). Balance is our intentional reaction to something and looking at areas in our lives that aren't working and making specific actions to change th

If you want a funny, down-to-earth book about marriage, motherhood, and everything in between, Lisa Pennington's new offering, Tight Ropes and Teeter-Totters is definitely the book for you! The fun and attractive cover was what first drew me to the book, and once I opened the pages and read the introduction, I had trouble putting it down. The back cover says:

"Lisa Pennington knows how to get up after losing her balance, even with a full house, a not-so-full bank account, and never enough energy.

Ever wonder how some Christian women seem to stay calm & steady regardless of the situation, and others sway in the wind? No matter where you fall within that spectrum, Pennington's book is a fantastic one for helping you seek or further establish balance in your life. Multitasking our roles as wives, moms, careers & managing a household can be overwhelming; finding ways to seek balance, embracing self-affirmation, identifying our weak areas, and relying in Christ are critical components ...more

Life is crazy and chaotic at times, and I myself have trouble finding the balance between my life roles. This book is well written and easy to follow, and gets to the root of most problems. It wasn't a boring and dry read, and I often found myself nodding in agreement.**I received this free in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions expressed are my own.**

Perfection and control wreck my world. Actually not being able to obtain them is the problem. It is a relief to find out those things, as well as what is working for someone else, do not need to affect me negatively any longer. Reading the book provided to me by Litfuse Publishing and shown below with a sincere prayer to God has helped me to let go of these deceptions.

The author’s definition of balance involves seven steps … one for each letter of the word B-A-L-A-N-C-E. The ones I struggle with

In Tightropes and Teeter-totters by Lisa Pennington, this is one of my favorite lines: "Finding balance is not a onetime action; it requires repeatedly stepping back and looking at how we react and respond to the things that throw us off."

Isn't life in the everyday details? I get caught up in rushing my daughter so that we're on time to look like I'm "owning it," as a mom. Of course, you can't rush preschoolers. There is ALWAYS something more pressing than getting out the door on time. I have p

This book is practical, funny, applicable, and needed. As a woman I find I can get thrown off kilter from the struggles life throws at me. Lisa Pennington's approach is to take each area of life and apply an acrostic from BALANCE to help women evaluate and handle the issue. That is much better than the problem handling me!

I received a copy of this book for my accurate and unbiased opinion.

This was a wonderful book that teaches how to keep your balance in life. It used the word BALANCE to list the steps. I really enjoyed the setup and the examples she gave. I would definitely reference this book in the future if I needed a reminder of finding balance. I can see myself pulling it out at different times when facing difficulties. I would be interested in reading more by Lisa Pennington soon!

Lisa Pennington lives in the Texas Hill Country with her husband of 27 years and their 9 children. She homeschools while trying to figure out how to run their little farm with no real knowledge of how to care for goats or grow a garden, turning her life into a comedy of errors. When she has a few extra minutes, she loves to help other women find their identity in Christ and have the courage to liv ...more
