This book is one of a series specifically aimed at dealing with literary theory and as such is selective in which aspects of Heidegger's work it presents.

Having read this book twice now it's given me a far clearer idea of the importance that his work has in relation to western thought. Both times it's left me excited about the prospect of reading Heidegger's work.

The issue of Heidegger and Nazism is not avoided, pointing to arguments that take a negative or more understanding viewpoint.

I was hoping to get a good feel for Heidegger from this guide but all I found out was Heidegger's thought is not something you can glean from a 150 page booklet. Still, a good book to get some idea of his thought in regards to literary and poetic criticism.

A lucid introduction to one of the toughest and influential philosophers of the twentieth century. Focus on Heidegger's contribution to literary studies and poetics makes it a must read for the students of arts and literature.
