A nice concise history of the Dutch East India Company.

A short book but with good background to this company that at its peak, seemed to take over the world.
Describes its beginnings and how the ships were built, and how some Dutch stayed in South Africa as a 'base' for repairs.

After a visit in Amsterdam, I got hooked on The Dutch East India Company. I devoured this book at once and I must say that as much as it was detailed, my appetite was not satifisfied. It's really a good introducation to the topic. A book which makes you want more!
