This is a fun rhyming book. The rhythm is good, there is great repetition, and examples of onomatopoeia. This is a good choice for development of phonological awareness.

Down on the Farm is a cute book that reinforces all the different animals that you may see on the farm. The colorful and playful illustrations help the reader see and understand the mischief farm animals may get into throughout the day. This picture book has repeating patterns, and uses early sight words beginner readers can identify.

This is a super simple rhyming book with an ok rhythm about a bunch of farm animals. My 4 year old asked for it after reading it at daycare during a unit on farm animals, and was always happy to choose it for bedtime even though there's not much to it. Honestly, the most memorable thing about this book is that the rhythm of it is not QUITE there and so it manages to really stick in your head like a radio jingle from a small local business that isn't really enjoyable but sure is catchy.

I love the repetition in this book, it makes it a good read aloud for young kids where you can encourage them to start saying the "down on the farm" line with you as you read.
The illustrations are cute and simple. I love the little details.
The book has a good pace and story is told through a combination of pictures and text.

A great read along story with all the different animals from the farm. I liked it because not only is it a read along. It’s a rhyming story for children. To easily learn the words and sounds that each animal makes. Pictures were not glossy however very descriptive.

A young goat capers about the barnyard from morning till night.

This picture book introduces young readers to common farm animals and the sounds they make. It features a repeated phrase, which allows children to participate in the story.

The artwork was done in oil paints and ink.

This is a book where the illustrations will capture the child's interest even if the story doesn't. That is what I observed when reading it to my daughter.

Not a fan of the bone sticking out of the shoe. We did however like the repeating verses.

Our baby storytime librarian read this to a 4-month-old and a 9-month-old. They were both entranced. Then again it might have been the 5 adults bellowing out animal sounds.

Fantastic book.

This is a book where the illustrations bring more to the story than the words. I found the text uninspired and overly repetitive -- I end up skipping as many repetitions as I can get away with. Like I said, the illustrations are cute -- I like how each animal appears a page earlier than it's mentioned, as kind of a lead-in, and we get to watch them getting into mischief. But if you want a book with animal sounds, there are much better ones out there.

Down on the Farm written by Merrily Kutner is a book about all the different animals found on a farm. This is great book for teaching children about rhyming and repetition in books. Learning rhyming words is very important for children to know and to know the rules behind words when they rhyme. Such that rhyming words do not always have to end exactly the same wi the same letters, they just have to sound the same. Even though the book is kind of long it is still a great book for children to learn all about farm animals and the noises they can make.n it would make for a fun lesson to do with smaller kids.

Lots of rhyming and repetition catch and hold your child's attention while they are learning farm animal sounds.
Parents will appreciate the cute, sweet baby goat who gets into mischief all over the farm -- he spends a good deal of the story stumbling around with the scarecrows boot on his head...
It seems like the story should be set to a familiar tune as many Will Hillenbrand stories are (he illustrated this one), but I couldn't figure out what tune, and there is no sheet music in the book....
Great illustrations.

I think I got this book for free as part of a book order or something, but I really don't care for it at all. I find it annoying and pointless. There are so many better books about farms, if that's what you are looking for.

This book was okay. I don't think the author really put any thought into the book. It seems like it just repeats itself over and over. It is a good book to teach children about animals down on the farm but I feel like there are way better books than this one.

the rythym of the book is all off. I felt like a Bob Evans ad was playing at the bottom of each page.

Talks about all kinds of different animals on the farm. Was a little long, too much repetition for storytime--the kids seemed to get bored.
