After a computer explosion at the library, Josiah King takes cover in a room full of Bibles. He reads God’s Word for the first time that night, and (with the help of mysterious radioactive fumes) is transformed into a superhero―Captain Absolutely. He embarks on a battle for truth and justice, pitted against his ultimate nemesis, the notorious Dr. Relative.
This popular comic strip (a spin-off of the popular Adventures in Odyssey series and originally featured in Clubhouse magazine) entertains and engages imaginations while helping kids grasp the role of God’s Word and truth in making life decisions. Using the power of story, this exciting adventure poses vital questions about eternal truth that will help children discern how to stand firm in their faith in today’s world.
I am not a huge fan of comic books, but I enjoyed reading these with my little siblings! My little brother especially loved them, and has started writing his own comic books. So cute! <3
Anyone who loves Whits' End and Wooten will love this book to bits. I would even have to say it's as good as any super hero GN out there. I would even argue--better!
Super Hero's that are not only awesome, but love the Lord and reach the world for the gospel is just-- amazing. I'm so impressed.
Highly recommended as a Christian Graphic Novel book 10+
Our whole family has enjoyed this book very much, and it has inspired several comic attempts at comic book style writing for school. I enjoyed the Christian truths and albeit slightly vague and unexplained moral direction. It is amusing and very original, and there is good character progression which is always helpful.
The back story and further adventures of Josiah King who was transformed into Captain Absolutely. While working in the library, a computer explosion trapped Josiah after he took cover in a room full of Bibles and radioactive fumes turned him into a superhero doing battle against evil villains and defending God's truth.
A highly enjoyable read, engaging and imaginative. Great for middle grade readers, especially those who are fans of Adventures in Odyssey. Though this could easily be read as a standalone.
A clever comic with a Christian worldview, I appreciated the puns and the triumph of absolute truth!
