You will love the beautiful, full color photographs throughout this bio filled book. Whether they’re learning to walk or just romping around the farm, these horned and hooved heartbreakers will have you grinning ear to ear as they chew the scenery—literally!
I met this two-week-old angel at BookExpo America yesterday. He has neurological problems but seemed at ease and happy to be petted by strangers while his person autographed books. He is a resident at the sanctuary run by goats-with-disabilities rescuer (and my nominee for animal rescue sainthood) Leanne Lauricella, author of the charming (to severely understate it) new book of adorable photos with goat profiles Goats of Anarchy. What began as a personal mission to give these disabled and abused animals full lives and love turned into a mission to help all people appreciate all animals, which turned into an award-winning Instagram account, which turned into this book. To give you a hint of its power: I read it during the sixth, seventh, and eighth hours of trying unsuccessfully to get help from Microsoft support in India and the Philippines. And it kept me not only sane, but in a loving mode. After all, if these animals can be so loving and good humored with such dire problems, so can I.
I don't pretend to have what it takes to do what Leanne has done, but it doesn't matter. If you have any interest in animal welfare, you'll love this book. For more information and a wonderful video, see http://goatsofanarchy.com/coming-soon/
Baby goats are the absolute cutest. This is a feel-good collection of photos and anecdotes from the goat rescue center, humorously named 'Goats of Anarchy'. The owner focuses particularly on rehabilitating injured, disabled or otherwise special needs goats, and it's so special to hear of their road to recovery.
❤️❤️❤️❤️ Goats ❤️❤️❤️❤️ We have 3 rescue goats, 3 rescue dogs and 8 rescue roosters. This book made me want to dress them all up cute and take more pictures.
I thought this was a very cute book. It was not only a picture book but a feel good story about each of these rescued goats. The author is a lifesaver for this poor little goats that all have had some sort of injury or illness that she has rescued them from. Some of their stories are heart wrenching. Then you have pictures of adorable goats. This was a good way to pass an afternoon. I have now become an Instagram follower so I don't miss any pictures of these cute little animals.
This is a very cool book, by Leanne Lauricella who has dedicated her life to saving Goats, one at a time and your introduced with photo's to some of the goats that live at the Goats of Anarchy rescue farm. This would make a great gift for anyone, perfect for your coffee table, one that your guests will enjoy and one that will be a favorite read in your library.
Received via Edelweiss in exchange for a fair review.
Let's be real here. If the title, and the cover, did not immediately convince you this is a book you have to read, nothing I say in this review is going to change your mind.
That being said, everyone needs to read this book. Yes, I'm talking to you. Go. Go now, and pre-order this book. Then sit impatiently by your mailbox waiting for the package to arrive.
This book will make you awwwww, ohhhh, and eeeeeee. You will cry, you will grin, you will laugh out loud at these amazing, sweet, adorable and inspiring little goats. And some not so little goats.
The stories are just as great as the pictures. A lot of times with books like this, you care little for the words and just want to look at the sweeties. Please don't skip the words. These goats, with two exceptions, are all rescues. They all have special needs. They're disabled in one way or the other, whether neurological or physical. A lot are missing limbs, and they are all so amazing. I need to go cuddle with all of them. ALL OF THEM. GET ME TO NEW JERSEY.
Some of the rescue stories are harder to read than others. Stories of abuse, stories of meat auctions. Baby goats born in freezing temperatures who lost limbs to frostbite. Goats simply born with defects who would've been slaughtered if not for Leanne Lauricella's enormous heart.
The personalities in this book are enough to warm anyone's cold, dead heart. I've never eaten goat in my life (I don't even like goat milk or cheese), and after looking at this, I'm more than certain I never will.
Also? There's more than just goats at her farm. I want more pictures of those babies. I want more pictures of the goats. I want. to visit. this farm. LIFE GOAL.
Goats of Anarchy is an adorable book featuring goats from a goat rescue. The book is essentially short biographies of the rescued goats with great photos throughout. My only complaint is that there was too little information provided for each goat and the rescue in general. Overall, the book is adorable and the rescue seems to be a good place to donate to.
Disclosure: ARC received from Edelweiss & publisher in exchange for an honest review. (They may regret this.) Any and all quotes were taken from an advanced edition subject to change in the final edition.
If you don’t already follow Goats of Anarchy on social media, I suggest you stop what you’re doing right now and do so. It is a great joy to follow the exploits of these goofy goats every day as well as their struggles and journeys towards recuperation. While they don’t always win (GOA has lost a few friends) their stories are inspiring and heartening.
This book is a physical cliff notes of the Goats of Anarchy social media. If you haven’t followed from it’s inception (like me) it’s nice to be able to go back and see where things started, have all the characters explained to you, and even get insight into the layout of the GOA facility.
Also, who doesn’t want this lying on their coffee table in full view for guests’ pleasure? As a person who LOVES goats (even before GOA) I am always looking to share that love. It can be hard though, as goats aren’t always seen as lovable creatures—they have weird eyes, they’re not portrayed all that nicely most of the time, etc. But GOA shows that goats have just as much personality as your pup and they’re just as fun.
I bought this as soon as I was able, and I am considering buying copies for as many people as possible. Spread the joy. Spread the goat love.
I love goats. This is the most adorable book ever.
I am a little weirded out by the name. I don't have any problem imagining a person who likes Sons of Anarchy and cute animals, but I wouldn't want to name my precious baby goats after a show where characters commit about every evil act one can think of. That's just me.
An absolutely beautiful book with photos of each resident of the refuge and their stories; as well as stories of their life after rescue. A great way to support this sanctuary and have some beautiful stories and photos to look at anytime you need to smile and feel the love these rescued animals are receiving.
So much cuteness! A lot of the goats the author has rescued have come from rough beginnings- Grace's story broke my heart- and it's wonderful to know their journeys. Now I'm off to check out their Instagram account!
This was an amazing book. It is a very light read but really brings to the mind the things that animals go through, something as small a a goat really matters. I love what this woman has dedicated her life to. I miss Lawson
This book's origin was in an instagram account, so it is no surprise that it is basically cute pictures. These are some pretty cute goat pictures. There's a little bit of pig, horse, and donkey too, but mainly goats and really cute goats.
If the sweet faces of these goats don't put a smile on your face I don't know what will. This look at a sanctuary for goats abused or born with major health issues is a true labor of love and devotion. Sit back, enjoy, smile and yes, even laugh out loud at times.
All of the goats (and other animals) of anarchy are great! This book is filled with photos of adorable goats and their stories. I'm so happy to know that there is such an amazing sanctuary for goats.
It's a collection of short bios on the goats along with their pictures. It's really short but adorable and totally worth the time it takes to read/goo over baby goats.
