Shake and shimmy happy dance...I found a new author.

I see the word Highland or Highlander in a title and I get a wee bit excited. When I find a new author to me who writes Historical Highlander set way…way back in the day, you may catch me doing a shake and shimmy happy dance. There’s just something about the big braw Scottish dudes wearing a kilt, with a sword in one hand, a flask of whisky tucked into his sporran and riding a wee beastie, that gets my heart pumping. Well, The Highland Duke has

This book is refreshing. So far I only have been reading Maya Banks books on hostorical romance. With Miss Jarecki, her book is more heavy on the history and the culture.

I also like Akira who is kick ass heroine. She demands her right even though many law probits it. I also find it refreshing to find that the Duke has an ex wife who still live with him.

What I do not like is the romance in the middle is bit dragging. I have to admit I skip several minutes on the audio book. The sex scenes are n
The Highland Duke (Lords of the Highlands) by Amy Jarecki is another one of those WOW, moments in reading an intense, dramatic and heart pounding Scottish Romance.

I'm a tart when it comes to highlanders so I was all over that fierce broody hero on the cover of The Highland Duke.

Basically, the duke got himself shot in the leg and left behind during a battle against the queen. Thankfully a poor healer found him before the enemy and is trying to patch him back together. But it was a close call and they now find themselves being chased across the highlands and their lives on the line. Ee!

The years is 1703. Which makes a lot of the story of the characters unbelievable for the time period.
Akira Ayres is a healer working on the battlefield at Hoord Moor helping wounded English solders and Scottish Jacobite Highlanders. She hears moans coming from the nearby forest and finds Geordie/George Gordon Duke of Gordon with a musket ball in his thigh. This begins a dash across the Scottish country side to get whom she only knows as Mr. Geordie to safety from

The Highland Duke was a fun and romantic read! I love books involving highlanders and this one did not disappoint! This book had action, conflict, steamy romance, and more. The Highland Duke was a quick and enjoyable read.

The romance in this book was interesting because the two characters came from different social classes. The male character, Geordie, was a Duke while Akira was a Gypsy/healer. Their social classes acted like a barrier for their romance, so it was interesting to see them overco

The Highland Duke 'The Highland Duke' by Amy Jarecki is book One in the "Lords of the Highlands" series. This is this the story of Akira and Gordon 'Geordie'. Geordie is a Duke who is in danger and has been shot. When Akira finds him he talks her into helping him and then offers to pay her if she can get him a horse. Geordie needs to get away as fast as he can. Akira is a gypsy healer of sorts who finds Geordie and tries to help him. When they are discovered by Redcoats they take off together. G ...more

A Highlanders true color is always shown through their honor, respect, and the powerful yielding rule of their swords. This is one intriguing story that will fulfill that Highlander addiction and have your heart swooning over those big hearted true colors.

I truly enjoyed getting to know the Duke of Gordon "Geordie" and the Queen of Fairies "Akira".

Geordie shows his true colors in a growing manner. His circumstances and status some what prevented him from acting out his true feelings but his de

Akira Ayres is of Romany ancestry and a healer. She is roaming the site of the Battle of Hoord Moor to see if anyone requires her help, when she hears moans. A Highlander has been shot in the thigh; Akira has never removed a musket ball, but the braw stranger insists, and she agrees in exchange for some much-needed money, which she sorely needs to support her lame mother and her sisters. The mysterious stranger is George Gordon, the duke of Gordon – Geordie to his friends. Geordie refuses to sup ...more
It's been a bit since I read a highlander romance so when this one was offered, I was ready to give it and a new to me author a go. The historical setting and other elements including the first Jacobite Uprisings tearing through Scotland, the Clans, and the class difference romance of Scottish Highlander aristocrat and illegitimate gypsy healer was the grounds for a fantastic story beginning an exciting new series.

George Gordon, First Duke of Gordon and Laird of Clan Gordon took a musketball to

I was drawn to The Highland Duke for its promise of a hidden identity story. Once I began reading I discovered it was so much more and was quickly caught up in the adventure, danger and romance all set against the Jacobite uprisings of the early 1700’s.

The battle had been fierce but Akira Ayres had no concern over the political war being fought near her home in Dunkeld. All she knew was that there would be many wounded still left on the field who needed her help as a healer. Searching the ground

The book opens with healer Akira finding the badly injured Geordie on the battlefield. Unwilling to provide his name because he’s a Duke who just rode against Queen Anne’s army, Geordie is smitten with the wisp-of-a-girl who is like an angel. Due to the determined redcoats hunting him, Geordie must take Akira with him as he escapes. Soon the pair is running for their lives, yet neither is willing to walk away.

The Highland Duke held a lot of promise, and by the conclusion, I was satisfied with th

Akira and Geordie are the epitome of opposites attract. He's a Duke and she a commoner, he's a rake and she's an innocent. And I loved every minute of them. From their first meeting they were surrounded by danger and it doesn't stop until the last pages. I could feel the danger and fear, the despair and passion. The depth of characters and scenery are impeccable. Great start to this series!

Amy Jarecki sure knows how to pull you right into the thick of things, my fellow Scottish romance book-loving friends, and she keeps you there until the very last page. It’s one of the many reasons she’s one of my favorite “go to authors” when I’m in the mood to lose myself in a great Scottish historical romance.

With just the right amount of historical facts to fill us in yet not bog us down, we soon learn the reason why Duke George Gordon was almost a goner, folks. If not for fate and possibly

I really enjoyed this book.
It had adventure and romance and all that wonderful highlander appeal.
There were many parts that made me laugh, get upset and yeah even mad.
That just makes it a great book.
I just have to say that I'm glad Geordie learned to control his urges!!!!
Highly recommend

Oh, those highland games….

I’m always up for a jaunt in the Scottish Highlands and that cover had me right away! Geordie lived up to that smoldering glance as the secrets he held were serious and dangerous. I loved this story! I fell in love with Akira and Geordie. I loved her spirit and Geordie is definitely swoon worthy! I thoroughly enjoyed their interaction. I loved the fact that Geordie didn't care that he was a duke and how they over came the obstacles that could have kept them apart! This was truly a fun read! I received an ARC copy for an honest opinion. Definitely would recommend this book!

I just happened to be in the mood for a Highlander book and this was sitting on my shelf. It filled the craving and now I’m over it. It was strangely complicated yet very easy at the same time. It’s OK. Give it a go if you have free time you’re looking for something to fill a few hours.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review and I'm so glad that I was able to read it! The book will not be released until March 28th though I highly recommend preordering!!

This book tells the tale about the Duke of Gordon who is a Jacobite in secret and shot in the thigh with a musket ball embedded while out with one of his cousins, trying to push some of the English Dragoons back. In the mix up of the fight, he's thrown from his horse and manages to hide until a healer by the name of

The Highland Duke was a hoot to read! It’s nonstop action across the roaming hills of the highlands with lots of quick-witted banter and charm. Add in a dollop of romance and a touch of brogue? The start to this series was a home run.

The Highland Duke is a delightful, well-written and compelling historical fiction romance.
The Duke of Gordon rode, incognito, against the Queen. He knew that if he was recognized in battle that he would not only stand trial as a traitor; but his lands would be forfeited as well. The Duke, however, did not plan on getting shot. He hid behind a bush with a musket ball in his thigh, moaning in agony, until Akira Ayres, a beautiful Gypsy healer found him. The two didn’t escape the battlefield unseen
