An intimate assessment of the rock-and-roll artist's personal life draws on her private transcripts and photo collections and offers insight into her work as an artist and her relationships with such figures as Robert Mapplethorpe, Sam Shepard, and Allen Ginsberg. 12,500 first printing.
A definite for any Patti fan. Big, heavy volume filled with pictures of and by Patti, along with some of her poetry. Taken from the film by Steven Sebring, it’s her live, at home, out and about, and most vivacious. Heavy on imagery with an index at the end giving credit where due. (None accompanying photos.)
Beautiful images with sparse quotes from Smith (and some reproductions of her Polaroids). Without context, it remains an art book but with some knowledge of her life and work, the significance of various images is more apparent.
A must have for any Patti Smith lover. Very beautiful and moving photographs of the gorgeous Patti Smith. Its also contains sporadic quotes from Patti trough-out her career. She's such an inspiration.
Actually disappointed in this one. If I had known that Stephen Sebring was a photographer, I probably would not have ordered this book. I just thought that it was a new book about Patti Smith. Actually not much to read in this one. Some quotes from her.
