Racer Jack, Trixie, Stinky, Bingo, and others are competitors in a wild and wacky race to the finish line where confusing road signs, crazy pit stops, bumper-bending accidents, and other challenging happenings occur along the way in the pursuit of victory.
Bob Kolar is the author-illustrator of several books, including DO YOU WANT TO PLAY? and RACER DOGS. He also illustrated ALPHAOOPS! THE DAY Z WENT FIRSTby Alethea Kontis. Bob Kolar lives in Kansas City, Missouri.
This was my son’s favorite book for years. I read it to him every night from the time he was about 4 until he was about 8. I hope to be able to read it to my two year old grandson very soon.
NASCAR might as well stand for the National Association for the Social Conundrum of Animal Racers, particularly in the Doggy Division. (Speaking of Dale, Danica and those dang Petty brothers, I'll probably do a report on those dudes as soon as I find a good tome worthy of them dawgs!) This hot rod poetic book devoted to stock racers and our beloved mutts hyas all the corners covered! Doggies gitalong on the race track, burning rubber (when not chewing on it!) and tearing up the speedway (without the use of their teeth! That would smart!) with one lone wolf (owowowwwwwoooooo!) going backwards straight into the opposite direction causing pile-ups bigger than Mt. Rushmore! Kinda like that old story of the salmon going against the stream, y'know? It's all about being yourself and being good sports with your fellow racers and having a fun time in competitive racing. Your little pups should take a shine to this one like Turtle Wax on the hood on your Pontiac. We out, dawgs! See ya at the 500!
This book is great for little ones who love dogs and race cars. It rhymes, has fun graphics and a fun story about the race. I'm finding my son likes books that have images of characters on the inside of the covers and this one is especially great in that respect since all of the dogs are shown in various poses with their names. Very fun all around!
This book is great for kids who love dogs and cars. What more could a little boy ask for?! My 3 year old loves this book. We got it from the library, and we have to read it more than once every day!!
H. found this at the library and we picked it up on a whim. Never heard of Bob Kolar before, but this book is a cute story with some fun rhymes and delightful illustrations. Everyone can love this book.
One of my daughter's favorite picture books (and mine too!). A must for any dog lover. The illustrations are adorable. A fun rhyming book that you will read over and over.
