Cute, but outdated. The whaling pictures were pretty sad, but I think I have an extra close connection to whales having grown up reading The Whalesong Trilogy.

Copyrighted in 1971, this title from the science series being published at the time, “Let’s Read and Find Out Science Book is has value as the basic facts about blue whales continue to be what we would learn today. The one exception I saw was about lots of whales being killed which has been drastically reduced by various international laws. I did learn how long baby blue whales are 25 feet long when born, weighs two tons, is feed 200 pounds of milk per day by its motherland leaves the mother at seven months old. Interestingly I received this title through interlibrary loan from a library cooperative composed of approximately 250 main libraries and branches. Not surprisingly all these connections combined there was only one copy of this title.
