Ready for adventure in the snowy Colorado mountains, Cecelia Gage is thrilled to be employed as the live-in housekeeper for her favorite bestselling author. The twenty-five-year old doesn’t count on Mark Andrews being so prickly, nor becoming part of the small town gossip centering on the celebrity. Neither does she expect to become involved in Andrews family drama and a r ...more

**I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange of an honest review**

So, this book is about Cecelia Gage, a young woman who is hired to work as a house keeper at Mark Andrews' home. Mark is a published author who's working on his manuscript when Cecelia arrives at his home. He is not pleased about it, the only reason seemingly being that she's much younger than he expected or wanted.

We follow Cecilia as she settles in her new job, gets used to the change of pace from having worked wi
Alone is a cozy faith-based romance with a dash of mystery. It has an old-fashioned feel, which I enjoyed. The main characters are likable and the minor characters have interesting quirks. Set in snowy Colorado, it would be perfect for reading during a ski trip when everyone else is outside on the slopes and you just want to curl up by the fire with a book!

Alone (2016) by SM Ford is a contemporary Christian Romance with a slight murder-mystery twist. This novel comes in all forms including eBook, and is 303 pages in length. With a full-time job and a five year old at home, this novel took me three days to read. I give this novel 3 STARS.

I don't normally read murder mystery books anymore because I have a hard time not visualizing all the bad stuff. I am super sensitive to the bad. But, the Goodreads blurb caught my attention. SM Ford is a good writ
*I was given by the author a digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This was a calm, slow-paced story rather than a fast, thriller-pace you would expect from a "murder mystery" - and from a book with that kind of title and cover (that just reads/looks what a thriller book might read or look like).

But it was nice mostly. Somehow the setting of this small town in wintery Colorado with its few main charcaters and Cecilia's housekeeping chores with their calm and slow pace was s

InD'tale Magazine

This author shines in how expertly she mixes religion into the text without being too preachy and the small town is full of quirky characters that readers will love.

Alone is a pleasant read. SM Ford's style of writing is reminiscent of Jane Austen. The plot never dulls and the characters continue to intrigue the reader. I did think that Cecilia seemed way too practical and much older than a young twenty-something year old (hairpins, high collars, etc,.). I was also thrown by her desire for Simon, who was such a womanizer and very blatantly invaded her personal space. Because this story is written in the first person, I found it difficult to accept that she ...more
