Great read if...you like MM, hot stories, good stories lines, and an HEA.
Side Note: Okay first off you really should read part 1 before you read this one. Just so you get a better feel for this couple and where each of their concerns come from. Now with that said, swooooooonnnn!!! I am begging Daryl just bites the bullet and gives these two a full story because they are my favorite couple of his so far. I love the chemistry. The opposites yet not opposites. The give and take. The work they put in for one another. All of it makes this couple just amazing. My biggest beef besides these novellas NOT being novels (begging here lol) is that I wish there was a little more sex. The sex you get is great but I definitely wouldn't mind a little more. I totally recommend Dog Tags and Command, Dog Tags 2, to any MM lovers.
This is one of my favorite short stories ever. Some stories stick with you, and some stories fade away and it's a struggle to recall whether you read them or not when you're reading the description later.
I read this first a while ago, and my mind keeps wandering back to it. This story and the first one are short, but I see the characters. I feel like I know them. I've met them. Or parts of them. Or people like them. Undergrad music majors. People lost in their fantasy worlds. That guy I talked to at a bar in San Diego - a hulking guy with muscles on his muscles who talked fervently and earnestly about what being in the army meant to him.
There's something real about these characters that make them stick for me.
You do have to read the first one to know the characters and to know what's going on. The first one is a hot read and home to some of my favorite sentences.
But this one.
The first was a little gratuitous. A little ridiculous. The fantasies of a nerdy boy lusting after a big muscle man during a hot, sweaty summer.
But this one.
The first one exists in this happy fantasy bubble where everything is sweaty and dirty and hot and sexy.
But this one.
This One
Reality hits, and it's like a slow-motion train wreck. You see it all coming and you know it's going to be awful, but you're helpless to stop it. And when it happens, it fucking hurts. So. Bad.
This is a story that I'll read again and again, but I'll never be able to quite recapture that first time.
I loved the sequel to Dog Tags so much. So many people were begging for there to be more from these boys...so of course Daryl Banner happily obliged! If you loved Dog Tags...you will want to know more about what happens to the happy (almost) couple who were left hanging.
***** 5 ***** "he pulled him in and made him HIS" stars
This gave me pure anxiety until the very end. I knew a couple that would literally do this to other couples and it's sickening. At least Brandon's character development was great from the 1st Dog Tags book (which i gave 4 stars). The ending was sweet and loving and seeing Brandon show his true self made my heart pump and also the revenge was great, just wish that scene could have been smuttier. Talking about the dirty, there wasn't much that really was exciting bc of how uncomfortable I was with the scenario. I knew where it was going so what spicy there was, it didn't hit for me.
I bought the complete series in order to get this book. Although I had the rest individually, it was worth the purchase. I was very intrigued by the first story. The second was just as hot! If only men like this were real...
It was nice to check in with these two again even though I still don't think they could make it long term. Jesse's fears and doubts are incredibly relatable even if his attraction to Brandon feels more fetishistic than any sort of love connection.
I loved this. (And hated it too, but that was necessary to get back to the 'loved it' part!)
Jesse is so in love with Brandon and wants to show him he's not alone. On a night out to a bar where the local PFLAG chapter has a get together for the military, Jesse introduces Brandon to men and women who are going through the same thing as him.
Unfortunately, the men smell new blood in the water and Jesse finds himself a little in the outs with everyone paying attention to Brandon. Is Brandon realising he has more options???
One thing leads to another and I wanted to smack somebody about the head.
But rest assured there is a lovely, swoon worthy ending and Brandon finally shows everyone his true colours.
I LOVED (and hated) this story! I absolutely adored Jesse and Brandon from their first story, Dog Tags, and this story just solidified my adoration for both of these characters. The only reason I “hated” this story was because I didn’t want them to f*** up their relationship, which could easily happen in this story. It had my tummy tied in knots!
But I can say, after everything, I was more than happy with this story. I would pay good money if Daryl would write more Jesse and Brandon stories, because I just can’t get enough of these two. I finished both Dog Tags and Commando with a shit eating grin on my face. I was in public when I finished both. I got strange looks. #worthit
Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this story, though only after you’ve read Dog Tags. These were my absolute favorite stories of the Brazen Boys series, and I’ve read them both multiple times already since first getting the Brazen Boys box set. Definitely great reads!
I was pleasantly surprised that we got one final book in The Brazen Boys series. This is the only one in the series that is not a standalone; it's the sequel to Dog Tags. After convincing Brandon to go to a meet-up with other military gays, Jesse realizes this is a mistake when many of the men show interest in Brandon. They end up having an interesting night and truths are finally revealed. I loved the end and this was the perfect ending to this series!
I read Commando as part of the complete series boxed set. Actually, I bought the boxed set just for this story. Dog Tags was one of my favorite Brazen Boys stories so of course I had to catch up on Army strong Brandon and music geek Jesse. A night out brings mixed emotions and hot, hood sex for the both of them. The ending was perfectly sexy sweet as Daryl Banner can do.
Commando is the follow up to Dog Tags I didn’t know I NEEDED until I read it. I knew it would be fun to revisit Jesse and Brandon, and it was, but it was more and left me feeling so completely content (and possibly a teeny bit teary eyed at the very end, because… awwwww *feels*).
I loved it! I just looked back on the first dog tags book and saw I gave it two stars and I'm a little confused now because I thought I liked it? Anyway, I enjoyed this much better. Got super wigged out with that couple, my skin was crawling but I loved it all still!
I read this book as part of a boxed set. I absolutely loved this story. Dog Tags was one of my favorite Brazen Boys books, so I was looking forward to reading more about Brandon and Jesse. This book definitely didn't disappoint. Can't wait to read more by this author!
I was nervous where the author was going with these guys for awhile... I am glad it went the way it did!! It was a great ending for Jesse and Brandon. Loved it and will miss these boys.
This sequel is muuuuch way better than Dog Tags, finally the story shown how Brandon see about his relationship with Jesse. Sadly to see it ends too short.
