Now in his Perfect Form, Cell is stronger than any creature alive--even the muscled-out new form of the mighty Saiyans. Finding no competition on Earth, Cell invades a TV studio and gives the world an ultimatum: produce a fighter who can beat him in one-on-one combat, or he will methodically slaughter every living thing! But does the human race…or even the Saiyan race…have ...more

So it’s pretty clear what Akira Toriyama’s doing at this point: recycling the hits. And, to be fair, it actually works! And, of course, it’s his series, his characters, he can do whatever the hell he wants.

Cell is essentially Freeza, what with his many transformations unlocking higher levels of power, not to mention his lizard-like appearance. And then Toriyama goes back even deeper into the well (is that a thing?), by reviving the classic Strongest Under the Heavens tournament from the origina

This volume had our heroes basically just training for the real fight with Cell. He's much stronger than they anticipated even when they've reached beyond super Saiyen. Goku is oddly calm about where he stands even though be admitted Cell is still stronger than him. This confidence is what I usually see in him before he gets really excited about fighting a strong person and defeating them. The Cell Game so far has been a bit dumb but funny because there is a hero that the Earth has cast who is a ...more

This was a fantastic read. The story just gets better and better. Also, the characters are amazing and I love reading about the heroes that are in the Dragon Ball franchise. In the volume, Cell announces that he will be holding the Cell Games, which people try to defeat Cell. Goku and Gohan are in Full-Power Super Saiyan mode. Also, I enjoy seeing Goku and Gohan spend time woth Chi Chi. I missed her character, so it was nice to see her again. I loved her reaction when she sa

Excellent volume. In the wake of Vegeta and Trunks' failure to become powerful enough to defeat Perfect Cell (even after their training in the Chamber of Spirit and Time), Cell decides to recreate the Tenka'ichi Budokai, the Strongest Under the Heavens tournament. One of the most iconic events in the series, and a favorite of mine when watching the anime years ago. This volume includes the return of Dende, the introduction of Hercule (perhaps the funniest part of the series), and Goku and Gohan' ...more

This vol starts off with Trunks preparing to fight against Cell. And although his power has indeed surpassed his opponent's, Trunks has made a huge error in his judgement, which causes him to lose the fight! This error is shown to be a huge and important lesson and factor in this particular volume.

And so, having been intrigued by our heroes huge increase in power in such a short amount of time, Cell proposes a tournament, which will be held in 10 days! Meanwhile, Goku and Gohan emerge from the R

This was a really interesting book because it's all about action. The conflict between Super Sayians and Alien creatures to save the EArth. THere's never ending actions one after another. In order to save the earth, they must fight these monsters. Goku believes Gohan can defeat Cell but piccilo isnt 100% sure Gohan would destroy Cell.
I would recommend this book to manga actionn lovers. If you really enjoy action and the conflict this is the perfect book for you. THe conflict just builds up and i

The beginning of the Cell Games. Goku and Gohan have some tricks up their sleeves, even if Gohan doesn't know it. I like the calm and content nature Goku exhibits, it stays true to his character from Dragon Ball. Th power ups exhibited by Trunks and Goku we quite cool to see. I really enjoyed the origin story of future Trunks. A great addition to the Cell Arc.

Akira Toriyama is a widely known and acclaimed Japanese manga artist known mostly for his creation of Dragon Ball in 1984. It is difficult to pin point the source of Toriyama's artwork inspiration. He admires Osamu Tezuka's Astro Boy and was impressed by Walt Disney's One Hundred and One Dalmatians, which he remembers for the great art. Jackie Chan's early movies had a noticeable influence on Tori ...more
