Me caso con este manga. No puc, en serio. Lo estoy gozando. Nekota es una reina. Y Maya el amor de mi vida.

The Ruka parts honestly made me so anxious that I flipped ahead to make sure nothing actually happened between him and Maya. Everyone keeps talking about how Maya's ultra-loyal and not a cheater (and possessive because of his parents' messy divorce, which I'd figured), but you can't drop in lots of "ooh this is the kind of smart, difficult man I'm weak to" and not have me worry that there'd be some frustrating love triangle twist.
Fortunately, there were instead some pretty good discussions about boundaries and friendships and not controlling who your romantic partner hangs out with, just because you're insecure. Nemugasa doesn't understand what about his "boring, no fun" personality makes Maya head over heels in love with him, but he's a tough, upfront, really interesting guy. I love that even though he still cries a lot, he's always giving Maya a run for his money and sticking up for himself.
His little gay best friend is so cute, too, and I love that Maya has gotten over any hints of jealousy there and actually treats that friendship like something that's good and healthy for his boyfriend. Nemugasa doesn't have a lot of outlets, and he really needs someone he can trust and talk to.
I still don't really like or trust Ruka, but we'll see how he is in later volumes, and if he plays a significant role. It'll be interesting to see what Maya actually chooses to do with his life - being a librarian really did not fit him at all - but I liked that he finally admitted to Nemugasa that he's been changing his life and (quite literally) trying to be a better man because of and for him.
Also loved seeing Nemugasa finding a possible career path that invigorates and inspires him. It's funny to think of him being a future teacher who might see his students cheating on their exams...adds an extra humanizing layer to those teachers, too. (No more hints of Jutta and his teacher lover, so I guess that was just a sort of one-off in the previous volume?) Akira and his boyfriend are...eh, I don't know, I'm planning to read their spinoff last, so we'll see how I feel about them.

Aufmachung
Die Charaktere sind sehr detailliert gezeichnet. Markant sind die langen, schmalen Gesichtsformen. Sie entsprechen gar nicht meinem typischen pretty guy Geschmack, aber man beginnt sie im Lauf der Zeit dennoch immer schöner zu finden. Wobei ich anmerken muss, dass man von Band zu Band eine Entwicklung von Nekotas Zeichenstil erkennen kann.
Der Erzählstil ist krass, weil er sich verschiedene Dynamiken zunutze macht und damit einiges an Spannung aufbaut.
Charaktere
Maya ist faul und vom Typ eher Playboy. Kommunikation ist nicht gerade seine Stärke. Außerdem ist er befehlshaberisch und launisch.
Nemugasa ist ein absoluter Musterschüler und Lernen hat oberste Priorität für ihn. In Bezug auf soziale Kontakte ist er eher unbeholfen bzw. desinteressiert.
Fazit
Woar. Das war ja wieder einmal eine Achterbahnfahrt. Zwischenzeitlich habe ich echt gezittert und gelitten. Vor allem der neue Charakter Ruka ist mir unheimlich.
Allgemein kann ich aber nichts anderes sagen, als dass ich die Protagonisten immer lieber gewinne und die Geschichte bisher mit jedem weiteren Band lieber mochte. Sie erreicht auch in Bezug auf die Tiefe der Story und Charakterentwicklung ein immer höheres Niveau. Zudem sprudeln meine Emotionen jedes Mal beim Lesen über. Hiermit ist beschlossen, dass die Reihe ich meine Boys Love Top 3 aufgestiegen ist.

WARNING: mild spoilers
I didn't think that this volume was as good as volumes 3 and 4 but that doesn't mean I didn't thoroughly enjoy it. The introduction of Ruka really threw me off and, for a moment, I was afraid that Maya would actually cheat on Nemugasa. It was clear that he was fascinated by him (and his world) and I didn't know how that would affect him. Nothing like that happened and Ruka's presence remains a mystery to me. I don't know what his ultimate goal is and I don't what role, if any, Maya will play in it.
Despite some jealousy issues, Maya and Nemugasa's relationship made it the end intact and even stronger. Maya made sure to address any insecurities Nemugasa had about their relationship and even went so far as to agree to not see Ruka again. Nemugasa flat out rejected that offer, however, agreeing to meet with him instead. Consequently, they hit it off and it became Maya's turn to get jealous, lol.
I love this series and I love with the dynamics of the main couple's relationship. Nemugasa is one lucky man because Maya is so incredibly sexy; he absolutely booted Takano (from World's Greatest First Love) from his previous position as sexiest seme from from a Japanese manga (my opinion, of course 😉).

Book five finds us with a stalking horse in the form of Ruka, a mysterious character who seems to know everything about Maya and wants him. Wants him for what though is the question that is shaking Nemugasa to the core. Bristling with jealousy, Nemu has to find a way to see his own self worth before he can begin to understand what Maya sees in him. Crossing storylines with Akira's story is the catalyst that brings about the inevitable blowout that may mean the end for our favorite couple. Not too heavy on the smut in this book, as it mostly focuses on character development and the different changes in their lives as they continue to mature. One hardcore extra at the end to appease the beast in us all. Small trigger warning with non con kissing.

It was cute! There were some new characters that I was initially kind of confused about. It started to come together more at the end. Apparently, one of the extra books will give more insight to the backstory of one of the new characters, so that will probably be interesting to see the same story from a different perspective. I think the reason that there aren’t a lot of written reviews on this one is because of the new characters ...it’s not that the book wasn’t engaging ...I just can’t remember everything I read.

Just when you think the two of them are confident with each other things go wrong...but that is the way of this series! Jealousy happens on Nemu's end for one of the first times and it causes a bit of a melt-down, but it also really clarifies things in their relationship. Less sexy times than there used to be (more off page) but the story continues to intrigue.

Pretty good! Continued relationship growth (and maturation for both Nemu and Maya). It’s good to see them finding potential career things that interest them. Lots of snuggling and a fair amount of angst. What’s not to like :D

Better and Better...
Each installment gets better and better! I am truly enjoying Maya and Nemugasa story I can't wait to get to the next installment to see what's in store for them next. I know it's sure to test their love for each other while making them stronger!

Comencem el volum amb nous fronts: un tal Shimakawa del grup d'estudi de l'Akira i el Nemu (que al cap d'una estona entens que és el Naoya, l'amant i estudiant de medicina) a part de la feineta del Maya organitzant festes... tot fent xup-xup perquè apareguin més drames ^^' Això sí, es resolen d'una manera molt sana, parlant les coses ♥
