Deborah Bladon had never read a romance hero she didn't like. Her love for romance novels began when she was old enough to board the bus, library card in hand to check out the newest Harlequin paperbacks. She was a Canadian by heart, and by passport, but you could often spot her in New York City sipping a latte and looking for inspiration for her next story. Manhattan was definitely her second home.

She cherished her family and believed that each day was a gift for writing, for reading, and for loving.

Ember is a short novella. I think it consists of 3 books. The story is interesting. It goes right to sex. It is not graphic but enough to describe the chemistry between the characters.

I still not sure where the story will take me. But I am up to the next book.

Why does everyone get all freaked because it's a cliffhanger then says they can't wait for he next one. Why not just wait till they are all out before you start the series. It's obvious that's how this author works. So just wait or quit bitching about it. Just my opinion (-:

Not gonna lie, I one-clicked this bad boy (and it's two successors) on Amazon because the cover is just...I can't. Be that as it may, I loved this book! I was skeptical that it would be a rushed story with lots of unresolved conflict and insta-love because it's really very short (a little over 100 pages, I think). I was so wrong, though. The story didn't feel rushed at all. I loved how Dane and Bridget met and their relationship progressed. It was just perfect. I didn't mind the cliffhanger at all because I had already downloaded parts 2 and 3. I just kept on trucking like the first book never ended. I read all 3 parts in the completed series in about 5 hours. *****5 shining stars*****

Meh, it was ok. It definitely didn't pick up for me. In fact, I thought the heroine was quite ridiculous in the end. . Not sure I'll continue the series. It was a shorter read so maybe. Maybe not.

Ok so I bought the book because of the cover..I'll admit it, I'm a total cover snob..but the story was good..it was a fast read..now the one problem that I have with the book is that someone gave Thelma the keys to that big ol' caddy again because the bitch just drove it off the flipping cliff..and at a point that left u looking at ur Kindle with mad cow eyes saying WTF!!! I do recommend this to everyone..just be prepared..

Edge of your seat intriguing

As always I love Deborah s relentless mysterious writings. Keeping the reader involved, keeping the reader in the dark, keeping the reader on the edge of their seat..... way to go Deborah!! I still don't like her use of the F word, I usually put the word "have sex or sex" in its place. Not a word I care to hear or read. Good thing I like her writings or else I'd move on to other authors!

Deborah Bladon can do no wrong in my opinion and I enjoy every book from start to finish. I devoured Ember and although I expect cliffhangers from Deborah this one was a killer. Dane seems like the perfect guy and seems like the type who likes to rescue and save...well, he will be tested now for sure!

I just finished Ember and I really enjoyed it. Bridget is on a blind date when she meets Dane. Grant it, he ends up saving her but it brings them together quickly and is ending up turning out to be more for the both of them. I loved the story line, loving the characters. It ended very quickly and wasnt expecting it. Headed to part 2!!

Oh my god! Why do cliffhangers exist?! Why?! Rhat was the most powerful ending I have ever read in a book. The story in itself is wonderfully angsty but the end will leave you with a sense of dread mixed with copious amounts of desire to tnrow your kindel agains the closest wall. I can't wait to read how this whole thing ends!

This was a quick steamy read. The pacing and the storyline is good. I love how there's a cliffhanger, it makes you want to read part 2 right away. Overall, enjoyable but not amazing.

I find myself disappointed yet again by the prevalence of another one night stand between strangers who just met and can’t control their libidos. 99% of this author’s titles begin the same way and usually in the first few chapters. In this one a man in a two year committed relationship who is about to propose breaks up with one woman and beds another one several hours later! Many times Bridget bemoans the fact that she doesn’t really know Dane. It’s a common occurrence in this author’s work as though plotting a real relationship arc is just too much work for her and sex is a good way to attract readers. Unfortunately her mechanical sex scene’s don’t equal the emotional intimacy that would make this story appealing. All we know about Dane is that he’s a fireman, very attractive and fickle. There are no details about his career, there’s a decided lack of in depth character development and Bridget’s insecurity about the possibility for a romantic relationship with Dane is just plain sad. She’s a depressing individual with no real joy in her life so it’s hard to connect with her character as well. Why in the world would Bridget walk away from her artistic dreams and a life changing art show in the first place? Meanwhile it’s painstakingly obvious that the author hasn’t done any research about firefighters because there’s no way Dane would have walked away from his crew to chat with his girlfriend while on the job without serious repercussions to his career. Most of this story doesn’t make sense to me at all.

The cover summary said it all! Bridget and Dane are searched for their be half on their lives and in an awkward moment they met each other. She wants him but she needs to get things slow between them; he wants her but he needs things to go faster between them, he needs her badly! She is the one!!

This love story has nothing to do with the other stories Daborah has written. It's slowly opens infrond of our eyes, tenderly and sweetly. I can find myself in Bridgets mind easily. I think just like her but the warm feeling I feel reading the story...well, Dane's actions do that! He is increadible beautiful on outside, his body sculpture beauty, his strength, Deborah have an ace when it comes to describe men for her books...but his soul is the best thing he owns. I will die for this man!!!

I enjoy reading "Ember" very very much and I want to find out what is coming next for Bridget and Dane. Part 2 is on currendly reading process and I love it too. Best thing in the book? But of course the SEX scenes! The man knows how to work things out on the bed, on the armchair, on the..... Well, you have to read it to find out where else! Lol

Enjoy the story! xo

Bridget Parker was surprised when a complete stranger intervened on her behalf against the brute she was on a date with. Sure, she could have handled things herself, but the hot fireman that protected her could put the prince in a shinning armor fantasy to shame. Dane Beckett was instantly taken by the woman he saved. Needing time with her, he didn't refuse her invitation to go back to her place. He had literally just broken off with his girlfriend of two years before meeting her, but that didn't stop him from wanting Bridget. Dane made Bridget feel things she never felt before. His belief in her is refreshing and gives her the courage to go after her dreams. But when feelings become intense that she needs to accept just how much he could mean to her, a rescue mission makes the dangers of his job real to her. And then her world comes crashing down. An emotionally intense first part to the Ember series.

Sizzling Hot, Jaw Dropping twists & turns!!

Deborah Bladon has once again given us a beautifully crafted intense story. Bridget is a closet artist who does not have confidence in herself to show her art work. Dane is a firemen who happens to come to Brigets' rescue after a blind date goes wrong. Both Bridget and Dane are struggling with insecurities and secrets that maybe difficult to overcome. Ms. Bladon has given us gritty, smoldering hot story with a totally unexpected jaw dropping cliff hanger. She is an evil genius...Cannot wait for part two!!

Beyond terrible. Extremely short read. Absolutely no realistic character progression. Not realistic whatsoever in terms of how their relationship progresses. This story was jumping all over the place. You get no depth into character's thoughts and feelings.

I'm assuming that he's hiding that he's actually married to his ex. Why else would she have any ground to stand on legally in fighting him for her share of the house?

And the ending.... God she was such an idiot she deserved it. I will not be reading the sequels.

It felt like the hero seemed too good to be true and the whole time i was reading the book, I kept thinking that he's cheating on her. But I was wrong. I guess, the author did a good job leading the reader to that point but then again, I didn't get to relish the fact that the hero was actually a good guy because the whole time, I kept thinking that he's doing something sinister. He was just too in love with the heroine too soon...i guess insta-love and lust within a day or three was too soon for me. All in all, the book was good. I'd read it again.

This is the first third if the Ember novel. I don't understand why authors & publishers think it is appropriate to publish small sections of a novel separately. Regardless, I read all three of the parts and simply did not like the writing. It reads like a student project on writing erotica. The characters were one dimensional, the love scenes were **** scenes. There was no romance involved. The secondary characters were one dimensional. The only reason I read all three sections is because I bought them as a bundle and they are very quick reads.

Interesting.

So the title "ember" and the synopsis that Dane is a firefighter would lead you to believe there is quite a bit about Dane and his firefighting prowess. There is actually very little. Not to say that this isn't one hot book (hot ember??) I'm still a little skeptical about Danes ex, maisey. She's just an ex he dated for 4-5 years and she's trying to stake claim to his house? They've got to be more and he's holding back some honesty here...

you never disappoint! I

I wish that I still had the ability to write! But my way with words is not what it used to be. Thanks to Amazon for feeding my addiction to reading! I'm embarrassed to tell my friends and family how much time I spend reading. I nearly run my battery down every day!

I couldn't put it down! This is definitely going to be an exercise in patience as I cannot wait for the next book to come out. Dane seems too perfect to be real....true love is tested when in difficult circumstances. I guess we'll see if it's lust or love....hurry with the next installment please

ember part 1

I like the whole outcome of the story. I know that there is a part two and three so I can't wait to read them.
I would recommend any one of Deborah Bladons books because they all have to do with family and of the family.
I chose this rating because that's how good her books are.

Another Amazon Kindle promotion; I was not happy with this one. The scenario was hopeful, about an artist finally getting a step forward with a gallery opening in Manhattan. An artist friend of mine did that a few months ago. Hers was a successful showing. Ember ends with all hopes dashed, no resolution of the romance, nor the climax of the story.

OMG, AS USUAL BIG CLIFFHANGER!

Wow as usual this series is suspenseful..I kept thinking it was some big secret about Dane, it still may be, but I definitely didn't expect that ending. Ok I hope the next one is soon.
