Janet Quin-Harkin is a pseudonym of Rhys Bowen

Rhys turned to writing children’s books under her married name, Janet Quin-Harkin. Her first picture book was an immediate success and won several awards. More picture books followed, then her agent asked her to write a book for young adults. This was a turning point in Rhys’s career. Her first young adult novel was an instant hit. By her third she was selling half a million copies. Many more popular YA novels followed until Rhys decided she had said all she wanted to say about teenage love and angst, and she turned her real love—mysteries.

I spent the entirety of this book wishing basic bitch Amber would get gored by a bull. Friends, I am sad to say my wish was never granted.

This was such a cute book. I loved the main characters and how they fell in love. Its a good "corny" love story to read. It was nice and short and good for a quick read. I would love to read it again.

I thought this had a stereotypical cliché to its story but it was a good one nonetheless. I may still be tempted to unearth this from my pile of old books if ever I have the need for a good teen read.

One of my favorites as a young girl. The big town city girl realizes there is more than one thing to be loved about the country!

I honestly adored this when I was 11.
Had a very rude awakening when I reread it today.

Mom's need not worry at all! Amazing for tweens & teens, no sex, no talk of sex. Not even sexual innuendos, just kissing! First kiss/first love, romantic, creative, clever, funny! I would highly recommend these "love stories" books written by different authors. They're what I started out on, as an adolescent in the 90s, daydreaming about my future first love, 😻 and I sometimes still pull them out and read them as an adult! And, most all of the main characters, a girl looking for love, have a best friend/gal pal like most of us do/did to rely on, and to chat with! My mom loved these for me, as did I!

The Boy Next Door Was my absolute favorite of all of the Love Stories For Young Adults! I must have read it a thousand times! The main character moves away from her lush New York City life, and is super spoiled to living the high end life. She meets a good looking' country boy, but acts a little stuck up. LOL
Will they fall in love? Or is she too "citified" to appreciate his down home ways? 😻💗

Sweet romance about Amber who has to move with her family from New York City to Wyoming. She doesn't want to leave her friends, her school and her boyfriend. Once she gets there and starts to meets the other kids at school and the boy next door, Rich, Amber's opinion starts to change. Maybe this move was a good thing for her and her family.

My favorite sappy teen romance from my youth. It started my love affair with Wyoming.
