A brief history of NASA and its space programs.
1. NASA was founded in 1958, a year after Russia launched Sputnik and hence started the space race era.
2. Explorer 1 was launched a year after Sputnik 1, and soon after, NASA was founded.
3. The Mariner Program was to send space probes to study planets, such as Venus and Mars.
4. Voyagers were sent to study the outer planets, such as Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
5. The Apollo Program was created in 1961. Its main goal was to land men on the moon, which was achieved in 1969.
