A Place for Eagles

Rate this book
Rancher Keegan McPherson was as harsh and unforgiving as the Oregon wilds, with a disposition that matched a bucking bronco. Though all to familiar with Keegan's unyielding nature, Beth Ralston dared to come home-to brave the land that was her heritage...and the man who was her soul.

But Keegan was truly a wild McPherson, with a fire in his gut, stone in his heart-and a bone-deep distrust of Elizabeth Ralston. Once, they'd bridged their ancestral rivalry with lovemaking that touched the stars. Now, between them lay this no-man's land...where only eagles dared to soar.

WILD RIVER TRILOGY:
Three maddening men ...three winsome women--and the untamed land they live on all add up to love!

I read it. Don't ask me why but I read it and now I am mad at myself. I have put myself in time out three times in the last two days but I just had to do it again.

This hero was a jerk. No other excuse. They separated for three years because he was an ass and he was definitely not celibate. She was though of course. And then she comes back and he is still a jerk to her but he does find time to sleep with her once or twice. There is a piece of land that they both think is theirs and they are fighting over it. It destroys their relationship. He leaves to go on a buying trip for a. month and then he goes and spends two weeks with his ex in New York. I don't know if he slept with her or anyone else, because it's not stated one way or another, but pretty much everyone on Goodreads thinks he did. I do too. He then comes back and the heroine has discovered that the land is actually his so she gives it back to his family and decides to sell up. He says he wants her back now and will crawl for her. She says, no biggie, I love you let's go mess around because I am a doormat and he says okay, she lets him even though she knows he was with the ex lover and he probably dipped his wick in her for two weeks (YUK), and then they ride off into the sunset. HEA? I truly doubt it. He had no redeeming qualities. Laurie Paige is not one of my favorite authors. I have hated many of her books and this one is being added to the list. I want to go now and burn my retinas so I can get the image of this POS hero out of my head. Not safe for me.

Read it if you like your heroines treated like manure for every page of the book until the very last, where you are then served the most reluctant, half-hearted, arrogant, manipulative non-apology by the hero who has just returned fresh from a month-long cheating vacation with his one of his many glam exes. Masochists of the world, rejoice! This book can be your new Bible :~}
