There's nothing quite like a nice southern boy to melt your heart and wet your... whistle. *wink*

Mitch McKenna is damaged goods. Heartbreak, war, and grief all plague his thoughts and prevent him from living a full life in small town Virginia. He keeps women at arm's length and never allows his heart to even come close to loving anyone other than his family.

The reason? Well, she just walked right back in

After an incident that landed her in the hospital, Sydney Preston couldn't stand being in New York any longer. So, once she was released, she decided there would nothing stopping her from reuniting with her ex-fiancé, Mitch McKenna. However, there is just one problem -- he's not happy to see her.

It's taken Mitch McKenna a long time to get over Sydney. The only way he coped with the fact that she chose what her parents wanted for her life over marrying him is by having casual affairs and making c

Where to start? This was a great story. Simple premise but very complicated characters, primarily Mitch the male counterpart to Sydney, who is fairly straight forward. Briefly these two have history, college sweethearts who wanted to marry, she's on her way to med school when he decides to enlist in the Army. She comes from money, he's small town. She doesn't want him to go into the military and he insists and when he comes home from bootcamp, she tells him she wants to postpone their wedding pl ...more

Super sexy, detective, Mitch McKenna is a playboy, who lets all kinds of women into his bed, but none close to his heart. His college sweetheart broke him, and he's never been the same since, so he's sworn off love. New York doctor, Sydney Preston has always been focused on becoming a successful doctor. She left the only man that she would ever love to follow that path. But when a dangerous attack threatens her life, she decides that it's time to face the man that got away. So she moves to Virgi ...more
The Book Junkie Reads . . .
Is there a way to be simple and complicated at the same time? Yes. I found that generally going into this read that things would straight forward and simple but there was so much more to be discovered the further in that you got. The characters were rich, endearing, and complicated to various degrees. I found backing for both characters and what each had to go through to move past the past. Sometimes things are just truly meant to be but just not at that time.

Remember as you read that simple ca

I love a good second change romance, and this story was about as good as it gets. I couldn't wait to learn more about Mitch ever since we first met him in book 1. Mitch and Sydney were engaged, but their relationship ends when Sydney wants to postpone the wedding. Sydney seeks him out 10 years later, and after a rocky start, sparks start flying once again.

Mitch is a complex character, and I really felt for him as he struggled to overcome the pain from his past. Sydney is a unique blend of streng

I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a new to me author. I really enjoyed this book. It was very well put together. The characters are likable. There's a bit of a mystery surrounding who is going after Sydney. More than one hot guy interested in our heroine which I love because it's a game of who is the best candidate and come on who wouldn't like a few men vying for your affections? Lol anyway there was this showdown, if you will, between Patrick and Mitc

Sidney was forced to reassess her life and choices when she nearly died. She takes a job in Virginia, hoping to make amends with the man she loved and lost.

Mitch has the shock of his life when he's introduced to Sydney. The day can't get any worse, the new doc is his ex fiancée, the one that broke his heart.

Can Mitch and Sidney rekindle their love by resolving their past?

I felt sorry for Mitch and could understand why he was bitter a

Great second chance romance with dash of suspense. Mitch and Sydney had undeniable chemistry and even though they tried to block it out, they also had a strong emotional connection. They've spent the last ten years apart due to some parent manipulation as well overreaction on both of their parts. As they talk about the past and discover truths they weren't aware of, their relationship begins to change and feelings are reawakened. I felt bad for the time they lost, but they seemed to be making up ...more

OMG! I adored this book! This was an excellent book! I was in a book slump for over a week and then I saw this book, read the blurb and because I'm a sucker for second chance stories, I had to read it. I was not disappointed! It was nothing I expected. I was literally surprised throughout the entire book and I had no idea if the story was even going to end up the way I wanted it to. The pull between Mitch and Sydney was thrilling. Their love for each other, even after so many years, was scorchin ...more

Jenna Harte is a new to me author but I am a sucker for a man in uniform so I thought I would give it a shot. I am so glad that I did! Complex characters, sparks hot enough to start a forest fire, and enough angst to keep you hooked from the very first page. At first I was not sure how much I would like Mitch, as he was a bit of a jerk but he grew on me as the story progressed. My heart hurt for Sydney, finding out that she had been betrayed by someone she trusted completely, even if it was for ...more

Meant to Be is book 2 in the Southern Heat series and can be read as a stand alone (which makes me so happy)! Jenna Harte is a "new to me" author and this won't be the last book I read by her!

Mitch is a detective (my favorite kinda story) and Sydney is a New York doctor. Together these characters have an amazing story!! I love second chance romance stories and this one was a captivating one! This was a good book, with twists and turns and curve balls! Didn't see some of the story line coming!

Jenna Harte gave us a lovely fast-paced romance with elements of suspense. Our two lovers start out with a rocky past that left both of them hurting. Soon enough we come to find that the spark is still there. Though it's part of a series, Meant to Be can stand on it's own, but may want to make you pick up the first one to see how a pair of side characters got together. A great second chance story Meant to Be is perfect with a cup of coffee and a Saturday afternoon.

I've always had a romantic streak. Even as a kid, my favorite characters on TV were almost always happily married and as a twelve year old, I'd write stories about them (this was before fan fiction or the Internet were invented).

I love to read romantic suspense or mystery, but am disappointed that romances don't follow up on the happily ever after and mysteries rarely provide the sexy, romantic el
