How do you take a chance on love when every other decision you’ve ever made has been the wrong one?

Laney Monroe’s life looks nothing like she’d planned. She certainly hadn’t pictured herself as a twenty-five-year-old single mom with a boring job, a freeloading brother, and an exhibitionist son who worrie

My life is a friggin’ fairytale—just not the kind any single girl would ever want to star in.

Like any good heroine, I’ve got a few challenges to face. Getting my son to wear pants is one; dealing with my snoozefest of a job is another. Then there’s the Beast, my freeloading brother who’s worn a permanent dent in the couch at my new place. And no fairytale would be complete without a smoking hot prince, of course. Too bad he’s a complete ass.

Wow! Sylvie Stewart’s debut novel is a winner. This is a funny, and quirky romantic comedy, just right for a lazy afternoon at the pool or sunning at the beach. This is a truly down-to-Earth kind of romance, and I am glad I had an opportunity to read it. Thanks to the author for an ARC.

Laney’s life is not what she imagined. Her life took a detour after she was faced with the consequences of a one-night stand her first year of college. The result was an eighteen-year commitment, named Rocco. Alth

I tried! I really am. But I just can not go past 20% of the audio book. The joke, the banter are over the place that makes me wants to skip this book so bad. I pick up this book hoping for some light rom com read. But its just not working for me.

Lately, I ends up with a not so great book. I think I am losing my touch on picking up a good book

Superficial, all fluff, no depth. No angst, which can be fine, but this didn't have the characters development to go with it. I think it could be chalked up to weak writing mostly.

The Fix was an enjoyable story and the first I read from Sylvie. I think we all need some of those once in a while.
What I liked about is that is very real, in spite of being a fiction story, we have all been on that side of the spectrum when life has thrown us of balance and we have to juggle and deal with the challenges of life.
Laney is such a beautiful girl who is just, to the best of her abilities, dealing with the trials and tribulations of being a single mum at the young age of 25, her son

This fiction, The Fix by Sylvie Stewart, is a perfect combination of humor and romance. As a result of a one-night stand, Laney becomes pregnant even before finishing her college. Her parents support her as long as she is ready to stand on her feet again. She completes her college, gets a job and moves out to a new house. Her brother, Gavin, stays with her and helps in raising her child, Rocco. He is a carefree fellow, who finally lands a job in a construction company. His boss, Nate Murphy, did ...more

Awesome book!

I completely enjoyed this book. The characters and story were great. I don't laugh out loud very often while reading but did just that, so many times. I absolutely recommend this book for anyone looking for a little drama, a little romance and a HEA!

Audio Review: The Fix (The Carolina Connections, #1) by Sylvie Stewart (Author), Alice Wander (Narrator)

Step outside of the fairytale and get a laugh out loud, ironic dose of reality. Stewart continues to make a huge impression on my audio and ereader shelves. The Fix is as sassy as it is sexy, but it also dips a toe in the world of sweetness, a time or two. Nate and Laney are determined to press each others buttons, but what happens when their hearts come out to play? With a dose of common sens

Another single mom story that I thoroughly enjoyed & it also involves the need of a handyman to fix & update a recently purchased home. I liked all the characters, they were written as down to earth & I could relate to all of them. The young son (five years old) had some adjusting to a new school & new people around him, but in the end that worked out very well. (The kids always get to me & add emotion which I like). As in most books, the characters have personal issues to deal with & overcome b ...more

The Fix by Sylvie Stewart

5 stars!

The Fix is the first book in the Carolina Connections series by Sylvie Stewart. This is the author’s debut novel and what a debut it is! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I did read the second book in this series prior to this one but I knew as soon as I finished it that I needed to go back and read book 1 - I knew I was in for a fantastic read! The author has a fantastic writing style and her storylines are great. She combines humour with real life proble

I really didn't like anything about this book. Nate, the hero was just...awful. While that isn't really a deal breaker (I mean that's almost standard now) the fact that he stayed that way and the heroine just kept falling for him really bothered me. I was looking forward to this book because I liked the idea of the hero's horrible first impression having an actual reason, everyone has shitty days that bring out the worst in them. Like Hey! I'm not an asshole, I'm just having a stressful

The Fix by Sylvie Stewart – Carolina Connections Book 1

The Fix by Sylvie Stewart is a great read. I read it in one sitting so curl up with a drink and enjoy.

Laney is a single mom who has just bought her own place after her parents decide to move away. She lives with her son Rocco who has some very strange habits and is a bit of a loner and her brother Gavin who is a bit of a freeloader following a prank that went wrong and ended his career.

Laney’s desperately trying to find a friend for Rocco fo

"The Fix" is a witty, fun read that I would recommend to any adult who enjoys steamy romance books and a good story. This is the first romance book I've ever read, and I loved it. The author's unexpectedly honest humor made me laugh out loud while reading, which I usually never do. As a mother of three, I found this honesty refreshing and hilarious. I also liked that the story was as much about a mother and her son as it was about romance. Sylvie's writing style is professional, original, and li ...more

Things change when she meets Nate, after he offers to help fix her house up she trys to keep him at arms length but he's not giving up and she can't deny the way he makes her feel. Can Laney bring herself to trust Nate with her heart?

This was a good little story. At least, it felt like a little story, as it was so easy to read. It is, however, a full length novel.

Dotted with humour throughout, this book touches on issues facing single parents, but does so in a light and enjoyable way. The narrative was, I felt, well paced and the characters well described and realistic.

Although occasionally the plot seemed to me to appear a little convenient, it was, nevertheless, a thoroughly entertaining, drama/tension free read.

Good read

This book had a great storyline but I have to say it felt alittle rushed. I like the HEA however I'm kinda wondering whatever happened to the girl from Texas in the beginning. I didnt get the picture she was a girl that would just go away. Also did they move in together and what about Gaven? I have so many unanswered questions. All in all though it wasnt bad.

This was my first book by Sylvie & wont be my last.

You have to love when the hero (Nate) makes an ass of himself when they first meet & happens to be Heroine's (Laney) brothers boss. The connection was there from the start & seeing them pulled towards each other was beautiful to read.

If you love Bad first impressions, single mum & hot alpha then pick this one up.

(audiobook) Oh did I enjoy this one! It was funny, the characters were interesting, it was a bit sexy and the narrator was perfect. 6 hours well spent.

I seriously was smiling the whole time I was listening to this one--just because laughing out loud at work for apparently no reason would have been weird. Not much happens, to be true, and the tiny conflict in the relationship is quickly resolved, but getting inside Laney’s and Nate’s head was a fun ride. And the people around them are equally qui

Not a lot of substance in this story but it’s good when you want entertainment, nothing too dark, aka a no-brainer. The banter between the characters was engaging and I loved the sibling dynamics and the 5-year-old kid!

The Fix (Carolina Connections) by Sylive Stewart is the first book in the Carolina Connections series. This book is humor and romance. This story is about learning to survive on your own two feet and still having the support of family when you need it. The Fix:A Carolina Connections Novel by Sylvia Stewart Rated 4 stars

Laney was an enjoyable character to read. She has great values and a funny friend. Her conversations with Fiona were hilarious and also heartwarming. Fiona is the kind of friend to have she helps and expects nothing in return and she is always there for Laney. I also enjoyed the relationship between Laney and her brother, Gavin. I have to say I don't know many brothers who would step up and help her take care of Rocco the way he

THE FIX (The Carolina Connections #1)

THE FIX is the first book in Sylvie Stewarts new series “The Carolina Connections”. Each book in this series can be read as a standalone and they all end just the way I like – with a happily ever after. Sylvie is a fabulous romance writer and she adds her own splash of humor that makes the story fun and enjoyable. She is a new author for me and I am captivated by her style. The Fix by Sylvie Stewart a fantastic five-star read. This is the first book in the Carolina Connections series, and the first book by this author I have read, but I have already downloaded the next two books in the series, I loved it that hard!! Sylvie Stewart writes funny and lovable so well, I laughed so hard I thought I would pee my pants at some parts of the book, I adored the film references and there are so many lines I could quote from this book alone. Laney Monroe has finally moved out her parent’s house at the age of 25. Only it wasn’t that simple you see because Laney’s life has turned out not at all like she planned. For instance she did not plan on getting pregnant so soon or being a single mom. She also did not plan on working for a job that she finds boring or allowing her brother Gavin to move in with her. Laney buys a cute little house that she fell in love with but it has several things that need fixed. She figures that since her br ...more
