I knew I should have stayed away from Rhett Johnson. Captivating, beautiful, talented not to mention a UFC prize fighter, and a man who knows what he wants and he wants ME.
Who am I? Scarlett Parker. A maid in a luxury Vegas hotel. I’m damaged, broken and running away from the darkness around me. I don’t believe in happily ever after.
The attraction between us is like a drug, one we both dangerously need. Wounds break open as my past returns. Is this my happily ever after or is this a disaster waiting to happen?

The overall story itself was good, but the writing seemed all over the place. There is a lot going on and at times things did not flow well for me. The story was emotionally exhausting and full of drama. Just when they get through something, another bomb drops. It just seemed to go on forever. Scarlett has been through so much. She is protective of her brother and will sacrifice anything for him. She is a one night stand type of girl. When she meets Rhett( yeah, the names are corny but it works), the attraction is instant. She wants fun and he wants more. He wants her to trust him and give up her secrets but he keeps things from her. He does share some big things except the one thing that is making him crazy. After what he shared I can't imagine what else happened to him! In the end, Scarlett can't deal and decides this is not good for her. We have to stay tuned to find out how the get to their HEA.

Courage to Trust is a gut-wrenching, emotional, roller coaster of a story about Scarlett and Rhett. Scarlett works as a cleaning lady at a prominent Las Vegas Hotel. She has selflessly and tirelessly worked hard to get where she is at. She may not have a glamorous job, but it pays the bills it has allowed her to escape her former life. It has also given her the opportunity to provide for her younger brother, Noah. Scarlett has made certain that Noah has a better life than her and protects him as much as possible from the reality of her past.

Rhett Johnson is a MMA fighter in the UFC, at the top of his game. Rhett, along with other fighters have arrived in Vegas to compete in a two-month long tournament and is staying at the hotel where Scarlett works. The Sparks are flying from the very first moment they met. Rhett regards Scarlett with such intensity that I swear my kindle started to smoke. Rhett, some how manages to persuade Scarlett to have sex with him. Normally she is a "one and done" kind of girl, not wanting to get anymore involved than just a one night stand. Rhett cannot get enough of Scarlett, can he convince her to take a chance and give him more?! Will he be there for her when her demons come knocking?!

Scarlett has major trust issues, due to her upbringing and once you find out more about her, you really can't blame her. While she keeps the reasons for her trust issues to herself, she quite upfront about not wanting more than just sex. Scarlett amazes me! She has her demons and she has managed to be a functioning, contributing member of society, with the exception of the anniversary of the day her life was altered forever. She is so selfless and puts everyone's feelings above her own.

I fell in love with Rhett, from the very beginning he amazed me! He is so intense, commanding and surprisingly gentle. I know he has his own demons and he is just so intriguing! I'm not sure what he's hiding, but I honestly can't wait to find out more about him. He is so patient and understanding with Scarlett and requires her to trust him, but why can't he open up to her?!

This story captivated me from the very beginning. The chemistry between Rhett and Scarlett is amazing. Their story has me begging for more and I can't wait to find out if they both can find the Courage to Trust one another?!

Gave me all the feels!

I am so invested in these characters. I cried, smiled, cried some more. To really see how someone with addiction struggles through life and the importance of a good support system really set an emotional tone with me. I can't wait for the next book. BTW this book was super hot too!

Ahhhh this book really, really frustrated me. I so wanted to love it but I just couldn’t for some reason. It has all the ingredients for a great book but I just couldn’t gel with it.

Scarlett works as a maid in a hotel in Las Vegas in which the UFC fighters stay in each year. She has a rule about sex – one night stands only. This way no feelings get in the way, she doesn’t get hurt and she doesn’t have to open herself up and talk about her demons which she battles with every year.

Rhett is the top fighter and looking for his next major win. He’s not looking for a relationship and takes his own issues out in the ring. But when he sees Scarlett cleaning his hotel room, everything changes for the pair of them.

With an instant attraction to each other, they both fall hard. But Scarlett cannot let Rhett in no matter how hard he tries, but as he manages to make cracks appear in the wall around her heart, can Rhett truly fix her?

I cannot answer my own question as I just couldn’t finish the book. I did read the last few pages so I know how it ends but I got to 41% in and couldn’t read anymore I’m sorry to say. The storyline is a new one to me which is great and the characters seem well developed but it is the style of writing that just didn’t grab me. There are too many staccato sentences and I found myself merging sentences together and adding in words to make them make sense to me. The sex scenes are steamy but I found that there were too many in the amount of the book I read. Unfortunately this book just wasn’t for me but it clearly was for others. I do hope that Rhett and Scarlett sort their lives out and hope they have a HEA in book 2.

I received a copy in return for an honest review. Courage to Trust gives the reader a full range of emotions, in a heart wrenching story we meet 2 people damaged from life, one a maid in a hotel, Scarlett and the other a prize fighter in the UFC, Rhett. As you turn the pages, you are confronted with a wide range of emotions, in fact I had tears in the eyes as I read this story. There are triggers in this story, so the reader needs to be prepared for that. We all face demons from our pasts but for some those demons lead us on a path in life that causes a variety of painful and destructive behaviours. This is a story that shows how this can happen in a very bright and painful light. I struggled with the end as its not the HEA I like but I suspect this is only the beginning and I can't wait to see what happens with Rhett and Scarlett because this cannot be the end to their story. I hope to read more by Pavan Kaur.

Courage to Trust by Pavan Kaur is an angsty love story between 2 broken people that try to find themselves throughout their journey together.

This is the first book of Pavans that I've read and it took me quite a while to get into it. I couldn't quite get into the story or the chez ayers as much I wanted to. I loved the idea of Scarlett and Rhett becoming closer, by being together and having the will to fight through their 'demons' but I found the story was contradictory and repetitive at times and made it harder to connect with the characters.

I did however, like Scarlett's transparency and honesty and I liked that it showed the importance of having a support team around you and how much that can change ones perspective.

I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.

Courage to Trust

Wow. I was definitely impressed by this book... there's so much angst. I didn't know what to expect going in with the 2 main characters being named Rhett and Scarlett. Surely a romance, but there was so much more. Demons. Plenty of demons. They're both fighting themselves and at times each other. This book ends with you wanting SO much more from the story, but luckily Pavan Kaur has provided more! Can't wait to read the next book!

This book completely captivated me. It had such strong characters and the secondary characters had their own stories as well. I will definitely be reading this whole series after the ending on this story. I loved this book so much I had to read it in one sitting.

Rhett is a UFC fighter and Scarlett is a maid who is taking care of her younger brother. But Rhett wants a relationship where Scarlet doesn’t do relationships. With these two if it can go wrong….it goes wrong. But this book proves that two people with internal demons can start to heal each other.

Now on to the next book.

It moved way too slow for me and then the ending just killed it. I tried really hard to like it...I read for two days after I thought I wanted to quit, but it just never connected with me. The story didn't progress fast enough and the drama seemed to be in her head much more than in real life. I get that trauma happens, but it felt like it was just dragging and dragging....

.....UFC fighter....who doesn't back down from a challenge...

They fall hard and fast....extremely steamy encounters...
Both damage, with hidden demons...

This story is fast pace, whirl wind romance...insta-lust to insta-love

OMG

OMG What a book!!!

Totally engrossed in Scarlett and Rhetts story and the demons that they have lived with for most of their lives.

My heart broke for Scarlett and all that she has faced but on the other hand there is a strong woman who is determined to live her life the way she wants.

When Rhetts demons get in way of their relationship, it's hard to say if they will survive it and get their HEA.

description

Emotionally draining...
The blurb was short and sweet but the story couldn’t be further from that truth. Rhett Johnson is a fighter – in the ring, and out of it. With a wicked British accent, and tattoos to make all the ladies swoon, he has the world at his taped up fingers. Scarlett Parker doesn’t have the world at her feet, she just wants the world to just go away… Devoted to her younger brother, everything she does is with him in mind as she works hard and leaves love and all that comes with it to everyone else. He’s a guest and she’s cleaning his room but their first encounter is going to lead to a shake-up for both of them…
“No, I’m damaged. I don’t want to have a relationship—just sex, you said just sex. Please don’t ruin it…”
I found this book to be curious mix of high drama with bouts in the bedroom to break the scenes up. Rhett and Scarlett’s stories are revealed one painful layer at a time and the hell that both have endured is horrendous and doesn’t make for easy reading. As the pain of their pasts are slowly, very slowly, unraveled, I couldn’t help but get caught up in it even as I wished for more from them…
Barely making eye contact, Rhett and Scarlett’s physical relationship went from zero to sixty in less time than a nipple twist. I would have loved to understand and feel more buildup between the two of them, to make what all came after more poignant and heart-felt. I wanted to really feel the tension, the hesitation, the pain but something was missing the mark. There was drama for sure but things got thrown in – disagreements with family, ex-lovers and even some BDSM elements (where did that come from?) – that seemed only to provide relief for the hero and heroine continuing to dance around the same issues of trust over and over again.
As the story started coming to the end, the percentage completed was creeping higher and higher, it veered into an unexpected direction and then just… stopped. Stopped! A cliffhanger or an unsatisfying ending, time will tell.

I feel extremely lucky to have been asked to read and write a honest review for Courage to Trust by Pavan Kaur. This story was a emotional roller-coaster of a read for me and by the end of it I was in tears and upset because I did not have the second book in my hands. I loved every minute of reading this story and if it was up to me I would have read it and ignored everything that was happening around me. I wanted to consume this story without being bothered.

Scarlett Parker is a maid in a luxury Vegas hotel, she is one tortured and broken soul. Scarlett has a tendency to push everyone away and drown her demons with liquor. With fighting her alcohol addition and her demons, how will Scarlett ever let anyone into her life to love and protect her? One night stands and working hard to support her brother is all she believes she deserves in life. Her past is a nightmare that she can't seem to free herself from.

UFC prize fighter Rhett Johnson will truly melt your heart and break it. He is gorgeous and he will not give up til he gets what he wants and what he wants is the maid that cleans his hotel room. Rhett never expected that her demons will be as powerful as his own. Will he be able to handle Scarlett's past? Will Rhett be able to open up about his own demons before it's to late? Rhett's love for Scarlett is intense, addicting, passionate and heartfelt but is it enough to keep them together?

When Scarlett and Rhett are together the chemistry is strong, steamy and frustrating at times. All the characters in this story make a big impact and are perfectly written. I have to admit I was a big baby at the end; I cried, I pouted and I mentally cussed out the writer because selfishly I wanted/needed book 2. The story is intense, I got lost in the mystery and suspense of wanting to know what happened in their past and what does the future hold for these two characters. Courage to Trust is a 5 star read and I can't wait for Scarlett and Rhett's story to continue.

~~ I received this in exchange for my honest opinion~~

This review took me a while to write. Not because it was a bad book, that is the furthest thing from the truth. It took me a while to write because I just didn't know where to even begin. If you have ever seen the movie Blue Crush, this is a little like that movie, where the maid of a swanky hotel starts a relationship with a guest. But, unlike the movie, this has so much more drama and suspense. More trust issues and apprehension than the movie. Courage To Trust has understanding, compassion and love. I loved the story of Scarlett and Rhett. I cried where I was supposed to, I got angry when I was supposed to, and got super happy or excited where I was supposed to.

Scarlett is a maid in a swanky hotel in Las Vegas. She doesn't have time to have any relationships with anyone. Her main goal is to make sure that her brother has everything that she never got. She also has a past that would scare anyone.

Rhett is a MMA fighter in town for 2 weeks for a tournament. When he sees Scarlett in his room, he knows that he needs to have her. He needs to get to know her.

But can her past stay in the past, or will it come back and haunt her?

The characters are really well developed and you can feel their personality when you are reading the book. There is enough mystery left to be solved that a second book will need to be written. I understand why Pavan did what she did with the characters. I understand why she left it as a cliffhanger. I sad at what she did, but I understand.

The story was gripping. I couldn't get enough of it. This is the first book that I have read by Pavan, and I can tell you that this isn't going to be the last.

The title says it all, but at the same time it doesn't. I don't think this was really about trusting as it was more about loving yourself. That's what I got from this book.

The heroine has been they the ringer but I love how she was able to finally heal. It was a rough road for her and the hero because she was stubborn but it was never about him, it was more about her. Scarlett and Rhett had unbelievable chemistry you could feel it coming off the page.

The hero was so perfect. He was so dedicated and tried so hard and fought for what he really wanted in and out of the ring. He was very well-developed and even though we didn't really get his point of view I was able to connect with him on a good level. I'm kind of mad with how it ended but if there is another book I will be very interested to see him fight his demons.

The plot was really good that's sucked me in with the secrets of the past and overcoming things from the past and stuff like that.
I'm giving it 3 1/2 stars because I could not get into the dirty talk, as much as I wanted to that kind of ruined it for me.

Other then that the characters were amazing I was able to connect with both of them the plot kept me interested Flippin each and every page. I will be interested to see what happens. #/OCCJD

I received “Courage to Trust” from the author in exchange for an honest review. What made me want to read this book is the illusion created in the names of Scarlett and Rhett. Based on the names in “Gone With the Wind,” I figured “Courage to Trust” may end in the same fashion and it had somewhat of the same type of ending. Scarlett is a maid at a huge hotel, taking extra hours and scrapping money to put her brother through law school. Scarlett is fighting demons from her childhood which make her a "have sex and leave" type of person the day she meets Rhett, UFC fighter extraordinaire. The physical chemistry between the two is sizzling from the start. Rhett is fighting his own demons. Although Scarlett lets Rhett in and she confides her demons, Rhett does not reciprocate. Scarlett feels that Rhett just does not “give a damn” about the emotional part of a relationship and decides to get herself together and do the things she needs to exist. Will be interested to know what happens in the sequels.

"I have finally found the courage to trust..."

****4 emotionally touching STARS****

This is the first work I've read of Pavan Kaur. The characters had depth. The foundation of the story was powerful. I only base my reviews on content and creativity. Through my journey of Courage to Trust, I stumbled across a lot of editing errors; as a reader, if you can get past that, this is quite an enjoyable read. I found myself truly invested in the story of Scarlett Parker and Rhett Johnson. The ending shattered me and left my heart bleeding; "either let me go, or...talk to me." Rhett is so gentle and sensitive with Scarlett; helping overcome her issues, but Rhett refuses to share his own demons that burden him. I'm hoping book two, Courage to Fight gives the duo a chance at their happily ever after.

Inner Demons can be the downfall of so many relationships. At least it can be if you can't work through them. Can Rhett and Scarlett let go of their demons and trust enough to find that special love together, that's the question. An emotional read due to the baggage they both bring to the table. Fighting those demons and not letting them control you is not as easy as it sounds. A battle of wills from start to finish, witty come backs and off the charts erotic thrills bounce off the pages of this well written story.
Buy it for the erotic scenes (of which they are quite steamy) but stay to find out more about these two wounded and damaged soul mates. Author Pavan Kaur makes this a very sensual, personal, emotional story about over coming and conquering.

This book is steamy right from the beginning!
The sizzle between Scarlett and Rhett is on fire!
Scarlett has left a tormented past behind her, trying to keep her head on straight and doing all she can to not fall back into old habits.
Then comes Rhett and has her head whipping back and forth she doesn't know what to do with herself.
He has his own dark past and other people that climb out of that pit to destroy what he has with Scarlett.
The only thing is, can he let go of his own demons and come clean to Scarlett? Or will his past tear them apart?
Amazing emotion-filled story. I can't wait for the next book!

OMG.... Pavan Kaur is a new author for me, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but what a rollercoaster ride of emotions she took me on. This is a heartbreaking story of Rhett and Scarlett, two very broken people, both trying to deal with the demons of their past, and get on with their lives . Pavan Kaur a very engaging author who throughout this book wrings every emotion out of you, and I've laughed and cried while reading this story, and let's not forget to mention the sizzling chemistry between Rhett and Scarlett that left me craving more when the book ended.......can't wait to see where Pavan takes us in book two.

Scarlett works at a hotel and tries to keep all her feelings and emotions hidden. Although she has one-night stands, they are all with no strings so she ensures she doesn’t get hurt. The only person that knows about her past is her friend Emma.

Scarlett meets the UCF fighter Rhett who wants to break down all her emotional walls, with the support of her friends, Scarlett thinks it may be possible, and she start to think maybe she can get past the nightmares from her past, although the one thing she promised herself was that she wouldn’t lose herself again, with Rhett having a past of his own that he won’t tell her, she needs to make a choice for herself.

The title of this book is very fitting and describes the story well. the main characters fight their demons in their own way, but somehow fighting them together they became stronger. The author took me on a journey that I enjoyed. It touched on some dark subject matter but didn't leave me guessing in to how or why the main female character Scarlett was feeling. Her thoughts were described and vocalized well. I loved Rhett's character...I do hope to find out more about him and I'm sure I will in the next book.

SO much happens in this book! Scarlett is just happy with her life, housekeeping at a hotel in Las Vegas, one night stands randomly, and living with her best friend. Until Rhett. Scarlett & Rhett - go figure :-).

Rhett is a UFC fighter who is almost struck dumb when he sees Scarlett. He is immediately enamored of her and wants a date - or more. Scarlett doesn't DO relationships or dating and that's exactly what Rhett wants.

This is quite the battle of wills between these two. Add in previous events that still affect them today and you've got quite the story!

This book gets you hooked with Scarlett's mysterious past and Rhett's persistence.
Scarlett and Rhett have some very tense chemistry and each have personal insecurities they have to work through. Love how they both got support from their family and friends. All characters are well developed and each bring something to the story. There is a cliffhanger in the end that leaves you wanting more. Overall this was a good plot and the only downfall was that there was some parts that needing more editing.

Oh my what an amazing book so fantastic. Rhett is a great guy so sweet and patience. Scarlett is a strong woman who has a lot of demons hounding her. They are so right for each other. It is a very emotional book. I really needed paper but I also find my self with a smile on my face. I really really hope that there will be a second book. If there is I can wait to read it. Seriously, I don't know where to start as I'm still coming down from the emotional rollercoaster this book took me on. It was beautifully written, with well developed characters that will draw you into their story and take you with them on their journey...Rhett and Scarlet are both damaged in their own way and have their own demons to fight along the way, theirs is not always an easy journey but it is definitely worth the ride.
