This is a book about discovering what we really need. There are a lot of second-best options, but we weren’t made to live a second-best life. Finding what we actually need is different than what we are often offered. There are many books full of opinions, steps and programs. This isn’t one of them. This is about craving the things that matter. Things that don’t just work, ...more

Recommends it for: Anyone that loved Bob Goff's book, "Love Does".
From the first chapter when "Sweet Maria" Goff shares her heart about a significant loss in their lives, to the very last sentence when my eyes were flooded with tears, I felt like I was getting a peek into the heart of Maria Goff, wife of international bestselling author, Bob Goff.

Her tender heart and beautiful spirit displayed the glorious splendor of one who has been well-loved. I'm so glad that she opened up her life and shared her inspiring stories with the world. It will be a better place

Initial thoughts:

First of all, I kind of just want to spend a weekend with Maria & Bob Goff. Maria is me - quiet and hopeful in a crazy world. From the forward, you know Love Lives Here is going to be something special.

In the introduction Maria says, "There’s another version of ourselves that lies somewhere under the surface. It’s the one shaped and scarred by tremendous joy and painful loss. It is equally us, it’s just a different version. This version of ourselves is not one we’re accusto

Love Lives Here, a book about seeing yourself and your circumstances the way God sees them. I've read the first four chapters and have been blessed by the thoughtful words Maria Goff chose for this book.

In the first couple of chapters, Maria shares some really tough stories in this book that challenged my own transparency.

A sweet read for anyone who has read Bob Goff's Love Does. A peak into the flip side of some of Bob's best stories!

I am reading an advanced reader copy from the publisher.

Based on the first four chapters I've received from the publisher, I'm finding that Sweet Maria is giving her gregarious Love Does husband, Bob Goff, a run for his money for top writing honors in the family.

The author pulls us in through an introduction that explains these vignettes of her life are a reflection of who God made her to be. Immediately deep and soul baring, Maria reveals her heart and human frailty, drawing us in and making us want to get closer. There's a quality of vulnerability

Four chapters and I have already cried, laughed, and experienced healing that I never thought possible. Sweet Maria has the natural ability to burry all kinds of nuggets of wisdom in every single paragraph of this book. I have been anticipating Maria sharing her story for the last several years, since I first started “getting to know” both her and Bob. I am in no way disappointed and I cannot wait to dive into the rest of the book. Her words are honest, pure, and therapeutic to my soul. It’s in ...more

If you, like me, love Bob Goff's writing style, his unapologetic whimsy, and the way he calls his wife, "Sweet Maria" then you'll love the experience of reading this first book from his beloved. At times during the read, it feels like Bob was sitting beside Mrs. Goff as she scribed her story, and it makes me wonder if they often speak in the mirrored rhythms and vernacular because her book feels incredibly complimentary to Mr. Goff's "Love Does". Just imagine conversations around their dinner ta ...more

Finally,an author acknowledging the painful yet beautiful part of living and doing love! Maria picks up where her husband Bob leaves us hanging as she acknowledges the beauty and grace that exist as love and loss go hand in hand. The honesty of the messy reality of following Jesus in a life of love pairs well with Bob's excitement and exuberance in Love Does, but this book in itself is a gift. It reminds us that the process of loving shapes us in the best ways even when they are painful. I have ...more

I am reviewing this based on receiving the first 4 chapters from the publisher.

I met Bob Goff on a cruise many years ago. After reading his book Love Does I could see how much in love he was with his sweet Maria.

Therefore given the opportunity to read her book, I jumped on it. I love the sweet stories Maria tells and how they relate to our heart toward Jesus. Maria has a way of making you feel like you are just sitting down to a cup of coffee with her and having a chat. Her words have a way of

After hearing her husband Bob Goff speak about his love for "Sweet Maria" and the excitement he had as he talked about their life I was so happy to read her book.
Her writing style is comfortable. Like a conversation she might be having with you. I've only read the first few chapters (after receiving an advancement of these first chapters) but I cannot wait to finish the book.

Love Lives Here is a wonderful book of "Sweet Maria" Goff's life stories. She does a wonderful job making her personal life stories into lessons about loss, love, and personal growth. What she takes away from these situations is presented in such a way that you can relate and find a way to take a lesson away for yourself.
If you're someone who cries easily (like for TV commercials per se) I'd have a tissue ready. Between the amazingly sweet forward from her husband to her introduction, it's enoug

This review is based on advance preview excerpts of LLH that I received from the publisher and only includes the first four chapters.

I first met Bob Goff at Catalyst West in 2011 and was introduced through his storytelling to Sweet Maria Goff. I'm sure I'm not the only one who, after meeting Bob, has thought, "I can only imagine who he must be married to!" Suffice to say, when I heard that Sweet Maria was writing a book of her own, I was immediately thrilled and have been excitedly awaiting its

I received the first four chapters of this book, and I have loved it so far! Goff writes anecdotally and connects with the heart of humanity--the desire for love. She reminds her audience that love is not unattainable and that we do not need to be perfect to be perfectly loved! What a wonderful read this is.

If you ever read "Love Does" by Bob Goff, you find the same breathe of fresh air with his wife's book, "Love Lives Here."

Personally, I have struggled with love. Finding it, earning it, being told I was doing it properly and being told to truly love God I better be better than the person I am now.

There is part in the very beginning of chapter one she wrote on page 8, "We keep scorched pieces from our biggest failures and incorporate them into our lives as we rebuild ourselves."

It speaks so much

Authentic. Sweet Maria writes in a way that makes me feel like I'm sitting down with a friend, with a good cup of coffee, discussing life. It's not always neat and tidy but even in the hard there is good. There is LOVE. Beautifully written!

I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher. This is my honest review.

Maria Goff uses circumstances and situations in her own life to illustrate what loving God, loving each other and loving ourselves really looks like. If you have ever wanted to love bigger or better - this book is the perfect inspiration.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

Great book! I only gave it 4 stars because I loved her husbands Love Does book better. Maria and Bob Goff are amazing people and have truly loved others in their life. I loved her quote from her friend "Time does not heal all things, just ask an infected tooth. Time plus doing the right thing heals what hurts".

At first I thought this was just going to be a collection of nice anecdotes to make us feel warm and fuzzy. It is so much more than that. The examples and stories are lovely, but they're also real, personal, vulnerable, and challenging. Goff writes in such a comfortable way, so very full of love. She writes as a good friend would to encourage and edify our lives by sharing the details of her own. I am surprised at how much I have read new ways to be challenged without feeling lectured to. I was curious about Sweet Maria after reading and watching her man, Bob, wondering what she would be like to have joined her life to such a passionate, energetic, goofy guy. Well, it seems to me after finishing the first four chapters, that she shares the joy and humor, but brings to the party wisdom that frames the depth and meaning of her life, and her readers will be encouraged and inspired by her insights.
I don't know much about reviewing books, but this is what I would want to know:

Love Lives Here is full of relatable stories that are summed up with nuggets of wisdom to carry with you throughout your day. It was hard to choose what to highlight as I read because it is all THAT good! I look forward to Maria's next book and will be rereading this one again. I was lucky enough to get an advance copy from the publisher, but that in no way affected my review. I will be recommending this book to all of my friends!

I received the first four chapters in pdf format to review.
From the preface by Sweet Maria's Bob you will be hooked on this encouraging 'sequel', if you will, to Love Does. Maria gives more glimpses inside the Goff family's incredible life of giving love to all those that they meet. The snapshots that are written about in Love Lives Here are very real, raw, encouraging and full of hope. I love highlighting in a good book and I can hardly wait until my preordered copy arrives to go back and highl

I received this book from B&H Publishing Group for review.

I appreciate Maria's depth of perspective. She tackles underlying issues common to all of us with love and grace and encourages us to do the same, in whatever unique-to-us way that may be.

This book by the beautiful "Sweet Maria Goff" is a breath of fresh air for weary souls. Anyone who is a fan of the Goff's (who isn't?!) will absolutely love this glimpse into the better half of Bob. Maria gives many snapshots into her life by way of transparency, vulnerability, bravery and love to show us that she had to go beneath the surface of her life to find the reflections of Jesus shining through instead of the yuck she was seeing. She shares in a way for you to see her heart, both the go ...more

I love the Goffs. I love how they love. I just couldn't love Sweet Maria's book. I felt as though she believed every single aspect of life was an analogy. I can't get on board with that. She's sweet and her stories were good. I just couldn't take all the analogies!!

AHHHH! This book. This author. The people behind the book. Where do I even start? I read Bob Goff's book, "Love Does" around two years ago and found it to be incredible. "Love Lives Here" is written by his wife, so of course I bought it the day it came out. It arrived in the mail yesterday, and within twenty-four hours of starting it, I had finished reading it.

The outlook on life, the lessons taught, the WAY the lessons are taught.... Everything is just wonderful and amazing and makes me want t

Maria Goff has written a lovely book about what she's learned in life amd given some great examples as how they relate to the Bible.  Some favorite chapters are titled "Keep Your Eyes on Your Own Paper", "A Neighbor's Love" and "Fear Not".  I know I, as well as many others, need to do better at giving grace. This paragraph gives me something to hang my hat on as I contemplate just that. "Don't shrink back when honest words of correction are needed, but find a way to express  those words laced wi ...more

Maria Goff is her own individual. We learn quickly that Maria follows the will of God in every area of her life. She shares many stories from her life, not in any particular order, all the while showing us where Jesus was the entire time along the way in this journey called life. She shows us in detail how to have grace and trust and love in relationships. To be true to ourselves. She shows us how it's ok to let others be exactly who and where they are in their walk with God. This book has been ...more

Maria Goff's genuine care and sincerity is apparent and clear throughout this book. Her perspective is decidedly Christian, but I think it's important to make the distinction that this is a book where her faith beliefs are not used to push or argue that the reader has a certain faith position, but to explain who she is as she honestly talks about her joys, pain, struggles, and how she's lived a life experiencing and advocating for loving people as deeply as possible.

The book is written simply a

I have read the four chapters that I was given by the publisher as a preview.
The simplicity used in Mrs. Goff's writing is beautiful. It is easily understood and reaches deep into the soul. Her use of personal stories as metaphors for explaining greater, deeper, and wiser thoughts for all us to ponder is well thought out and delightful. It has given me much to act upon as well.
I cannot wait to read the rest of the book and I am recommending it to my friends. It will become a great gift to give
