“Have you ever wanted to stay suspended in time? Or put something or someone important on hold, until you were ready? If so, then you know exactly how I feel.” ~Jahrein Junior After Hold It Down Like Sister and Brother, and Circumstances, comes Freeze. Jahrein Junior and Josairah are the offspring of two hood legends; Jahrein and Josh. They’ve grown up around each other, practically their entire lives, but as time goes on, their mutual attraction can’t be denied. Thinking that their situation was better left in secrecy, the two forge ahead as a couple, only no one knows. But when everything’s out in the open, will Jahrein Junior truly be ready for a commitment? Or will he need Josairah to Freeze, until he’s ready to be the man she needs?
Lil Jah is a better version of his daddy. The love he has for Jah-Jah is uncanny. Jah-Jah wove herself into web of lies and deceit. But, when the truth came out everything was smooth. This was a great book!
I loved this story. It’s good seeing the kids grow and live their lives. In this story it was Jahrein jr (Raven and Jahrein’s son from Hold it down like Sister and Brother) and Josairah (Shay and Josh’s daughter from Circumstances). These kids have grown up and they are showing out!!!
Read 6 times!
My favorite passage in the book:
“Man,” he drawled, as he stroked his waves. “Alright, mama. You got it. I won’t bring any more girls here.” “I know the fuck you won’t. And I hope Josairah leaves your ass completely alone. She can go get herself a boyfriend, and show your ass exactly what time it is.” He scowled. “What she needs a boyfriend for? She needs to focus on Jhyshun and school.” Raven sucked her teeth. “Nigga, please. You done lost your fuckin’ mind.” She switched out of the room. “Keep thinking fat meat aint greasy. Life has a funny way of showing you.”
On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being I realized my car was stolen– 10, I won a Lamborghini Veneno (worth $4.5M).

***5 Star Book Review Alert*** Freeze by Nicole Jackson
What can I say this book was so good. I love all of Nicole Jackson books but by far this is my most favorite story line. I have always been able to relate to most of her characters and the things that they endured through the story but this is the first book I have read where it felt like I was reading my own life story. This book stirred every emotion in me and I will be honest and say I was crying on few parts (I'm sensitive) but seriously this was great story. I know it was more so of Urban Fiction/Romance but it felt almost like a coming of age novel because these two characters where young and they where transitioning from teenager to young adults. I loved how mature Big Josh and Jahrien Sr. were in this story they have truly grown into some great fathers who raised their kids well. I almost stop liking Raven until I understood where she was coming from and I agreed with her but its a must read. If you have read Hold it Down: Like Brother and Sister & Circumstances you would surely love this book.
This was a sweet and refreshing look at a young adult relationship that is riddled with trouble and a whole lot of misunderstandings.I love that we are not getting a lot young drama that somehow follows these stories. Now what we are getting is a tad too much of the woman be just a tad to street. But it gets dialed back ,this was my first story from this writer and I have become hooked.I would also like to suggest a second or third pair of eyes.Overall a good read and very entertaining.
I experienced every emotion known to mankind on this journey with Lil Jahrein and Josariah. I appreciate how we got to see our favorite older characters while falling in love with the new. Especially Corinthian and Keyshia who seem to have a promising story of young, tumultuous love finding its way like previous Nicole Jackson couples. I want to know more about JJ's journey and maybe something about Amir Jr. Job well done once again!
As usual Ms. Jackson hit another homerun straight out the gate. I'm not going to lie at first I was a bit skeptical about the story being as though it was about kids, boy was I wrong. This book was just as a good as their parents. Shay, Raven and her crew was still crazy right along with Josh and Jahrein and their crew. Jah-Jah and Lil Jah were too cute it's a shame people had to get caught in their cross hair. If you read this story you will not be disappointed.
This book is nothing but reality. Youngsters falling in love and having a child . then realize its not easy to stay focus with young love but they learn through experience that loving is easy if you stay faithful. This was a great read. I love Joshiaria and Jahrein they learned a lot by experience and had very supporting parents, family. I'm glad they got it together at the end.
Gurl your like the MikeWillMadeit the music producer. You keep dropping this heat on us. I didn't know you'd released this book. So I'm kinda late, I finished this book in 2 days. Keep dropping the heat, I swear your my favorite yah hear me.
This family just keeps growing,Lol Nah Bad Josairah were a breath fresh of air. Too be young and sneaking around man it brought back memories. I love how they stood up to their parents and let them know it was their life to make mistakes with. You live and you learn and that's exactly what they did.
I really enjoy reading about these characters. I was wondering when Lil jah was going to get it right and I was saying joshsiar just needs to walk away...meeko was one delusional dude. Felt bad for seven at the end but I'm glad the way the ending turned out
Listen listen just when I thought it was over it got better, freeze was. Perfect follow up to hold it down like brother & sister & circumstances. These characters are so relatable!!
Keep them coming! I truly enjoyed all the twist and turns in this head spinner. I think everyone of your books have a relatable story making the best read. Congrats to you.
The read was good even though it was predictable. The characters were relatable and I love them all. I didn't care for how the strophe ended which why I gave it 4 stars.
Great read from start to finish. Definitely part of my top 3 Nicole Jackson reads. Jahrein and Josairah's story had me not wanting to put my Kindle down. Ms Jackson is definitely one of the best "storytellers" in this genre.(if not the best). As I read I just wanted to read more and more. Even when I stumbled upon the 99% mark of this book I was not ready for this story to end. This author has such a vivid pen game that once you're introduced to her characters they become an extension of your imagination and reality. I feel as though I know all of her characters. She has also mastered the art of intertwining the lives of characters from previous books effortlessly. So when there was an appearance from characters from previous books it didn't appear forced, it just flowed naturally. And the attention to detail........WOW! We were introduced to the characters when they were babies and now we are getting their story as they embark upon childhood and not one date discrepancy, age discrepancy or major event out of place as she tells this story 18yrs later. There's really not much more to say other than 1 click!
The children are trying to break the generational curses of having babies as babies. Jahrein and Raven's oldest son begins to sniff behind Josh & Shay's baby and secrets begin to surface. These two are hood royalty and family by allegiance, so where does there allegiance lie. Will it fall victim to the lust of the flesh, the race of their heartbeats, the hope of a future, or will they allow the lifestyle and alliances to dictate their routes...separately...while longing for the 'what if's' that still whisper in their ears as their eyes connect in the still of the stolen moments.
Freeze...another Nicole Jackson TKO. I will also note that Ms. Jackson seems to have taken more time and paid more attention in that her style of writing has grown immensely. Very few errors! Kudo's to you for honing your craft....you got the magic potion...work it to it's fullest Sista!
I downloaded this book the day it was released on KU and I also read the sneak peak the day the book was released but I just couldn't make myself start reading it. I just was not interested in reading a book about kids being in relationships and having sex. I was totally impressed by the book and it had so much more to offer. I liked the way other characters from other books made appearances but the story did not focus on them. I will say if you haven't read her other books don't bother with this one because it simply won't have the same impact as it will if your not vested in the characters. Good book Nicole and I would definitely recommend. 5 stars!!
I loved everything about this book from the creeping behind their parents back to the drama although both Jah Jah and lil jahrein pissed me off with the tit for tat sh*t they really loved each other. I wanted to cry when Josh threw a fit when josairah revealed she was pregnant it was just so emotional. Great story.. Oh and let me not forget that damn Keyasia is a hot mess lol
Nicole you left me speechless with this book. CERTIFIED BANGER you told this story like no other. I thought Big Jah and Josh was something else but man their kids takes the cake. I absolutely loved Lil Jah and Josariah although young and sometimes making dumb decision their love for each other was no question. I hope this was not a standalone cause I need more. As always Nicole YOU DID THAT!!!
These kids are wild. Little jah is father all the way baby. Josariah is a sneaky spoil chick but falling for lil jah was so cute. Great storyline and it was never ending with the craziness these kids being along with their parents. Drama no doubt but it was a fun ride. Hopefully more insight from a few characters but go read.
This was so good Nicole never disappoints me. I like lil Jah he was very mature to be so young. Josairah was so sneaky and would just lie but of course those lies came to the light, I just love this book I hope there will be a part 2 I need an update.
