I’ve come undone. For years I thought the world looked at my family and saw perfection. I was a busy surgeon and my wife was devoted to our two boys. But her devotion crumbled as her alcoholism took over. The outside world saw all too well what I wanted to deny. Ten months ago she filed for divorce, packed up and moved away. To where – I don’t know. Nor do I care. But my boys do. And they’re left with me, a man who never learned how to be the dad they deserve. Just when I’m starting to pick up the pieces, my world is rocked again by the last woman I’d expect. Given her past with my family, she’s a bad idea. But I’m drawn like a moth to a flame. I can’t stay away, even though I know this, too, will eventually crumble around me.

FOUR KYLE LOCKHART STARS.

"I knew heartbreak and loneliness now, and I never wanted to go back to it.

It feels like I've been waiting for a long time to get my hands on this book. From the start Rothert has had me desperate to read more about this particular Lockhart brother. And I'm happy to find that his story did not fall short. I really loved this emotional, über sweet story and I'm glad that once again I got the chance to read and review for this author who has firmly become a must read.

What did I love?
I loved the sincerity of this subtle taboo love story. There's definitely something about a couple who shouldn't be falling in love that always piques my interest. I loved the equal vulnerability of both hero and heroine. Their dual innocence really complemented their connection with each other and added another layer to the romance that Rothert created with this couple. Overall this was an incredibly sweet, romantic story complimented by a gorgeous outcome for a lovely couple.

Why not five?
This novel was a little on the short side for my five star taste. Due to its length it naturally had a quick pace, which as entertaining as it was lent to a fast forward connection between the characters which meant that I missed out on some of the drawn out tension that I like in my romance stories. I also found that the ending felt somewhat rushed; the romantic in me definitely wanted that little bit more to fall in love with.

Final thoughts ...
I love books that are heartfelt and sincere. I ended up with a huge crush on this couple and once again I predictably found myself addicted to this authors story. This series is a wonderful journey to follow and although each book can be read as a standalone I would definitely recommend discovering all of these books. I can guarantee that Rothert has created a little something for all romance readers to love. Enjoy ... kisses.

**3.5 Stars**

I have to admit, I was not going to read this book in the series even though I desperately wanted Kyle's story. He really deserved a HEA and I wanted to see it. But, I do not usually touch books where the H or h has been with a sibling of the other in the past. Curiosity got the better of me so I decided to give it a try anyway.

If I rated this book solely on Kyle and Meredith, it would have a been a 5 star read for me. I absolutely loved both of their characters (Meredith a little more than Kyle). Not to mention, Kyle's boys.

Kyle is every bit the perfect hero I thought he would be. Once he hit his groove, he was a dirty talker in the bedroom and possessive of Meredith. He was also a great father and did everything he could to be there for his boys. My only complaint would be I wanted him to take a little more action in the treatment of Meredith around town.

Meredith actually made the story for me. I absolutely adored her. How is that possible when she is an antagonist in the other stories? She had many layers most of which were sensitive and sweet. She was so caring and loved Kyle's boys as if they were her own. We get some inside information on why she left Reed all those years ago and I totally believed her story and why she did it. I felt so bad for her. It seems 8 years later and she is STILL paying for something that, though she went about it the wrong way, she ultimately made the right decision.

So why not the 5 stars that I wanted it to be?

→This book was more a novella than a full length book to me. It could have stood to have more pages.

→There should have been some kind of repercussion for Kyle's mom, Grace. I mean she held on to a grudge for 8 FUCKING YEARS. She caused Meredith to be treated like a pariah in her own town for 8 FUCKING YEARS. She's cold, distant and hateful to Meredith for 8 FUCKING YEARS. It never occurred to her to ASK Meredith why she left Reed at the altar? But she spends one day with Meredith, then thinks things over. Kyle tells her to get over it and BOOM! She's over it but suffers how? NOTHING...We get absolutely nothing...we don't even get her apology to Meredith that she supposedly promised Kyle she'd give her. ZERO...I needed this. She needed to show some humility and I wanted to see her set everything straight in the town. All the brothers were fine with Kyle being with Meredith...even Reed and Ivy, who of all people should have put an end to that notion right way.

→I wanted Kyle to take a little more active role in setting things straight, especially with his mother.

→What about Kyle's ex, Kim? She blows into town and is a raging bitch and then...she's allowed supervised visitation with the boys? I mean I understand why but I needed to see a little more there.

→During the separation (very short) we are told Kyle is a wreck but never actually see it. I wanted to see that he missed Meredith as much as she missed him.

→I felt things were wrapped up just too quickly. I wanted to see them together as a couple and in front of his kids more. And we just get an ending...it felt unfinished to me.

So, overall, I enjoyed it and I'm glad I read it, double-dipping and all. But it was definitely missing some things for me.

***On another note, I did not like Mason much in his book and I did not like him in this one. He was crude and still an ass in my opinion. He STILL doesn't deserve April.

A sexy emotional love story that was brimming with passion, understanding, and new beginnings!!! Brenda Rothert continues to draw deep and touch reader’s heart as she boldly writes a story that encompasses the true meaning of strength, hope, forgiveness, love, family and second chances. I am a big fan of Brenda Rothert and without a doubt Drawn Deeper is my favorite book that she has written so far as Rothert delves and draws deep a sexy emotional and palpable connection between two unlikely people.

photo e9c5f8320f14ad71602ed96f45106b_zpsfmc9rsci.gif “It had been the best night I could ever remember having. Everything about Kyle was good and right and hopeful. I hadn’t felt imperfect or wounded all night. But he was Reed’s brother. My first love. My only love. I didn’t want that to be an issue, but it was. It had to be. Not just for me, but for him. I was Meredith Hobbs, after all. The woman who could never outrun her reputation. At least, not in Lovely.”

Meredith Hobbs is the outcast of Lovely. She was once the golden girl of Lovely that is until she is left Reed Lockhart standing by the altar on the day of their wedding and ever since then the townspeople and especially Reed’s mother have given Meredith the cold shoulder. For years, Meredith was able to run away from the gossip that is until she returned back to Lovely for good to help take care of her ill father and help the family business. Meredith has no one with the exception of her father, who adores and loves his baby girl. She has somewhat accepted that burden and loneliness that is until Dr. Kyle Lockhart made her feel important.

#DrawnDeeper

Dr. Kyle Lockhart is a single divorcee raising two boys. His life revolves around work and his two boys. Starting all over again and finding love was something Kyle never expected to happen so fast especially falling madly and deeply in love with your brother’s former fiancee.

photo e9c5f8320f14ad71602ed96f45106b_zpsfmc9rsci.gif “I wanted Kyle Lockhart to be mine. But I didn’t see how that could ever be.”

Kyle knew Meredith was special. He didn’t see the evil villain that everyone painted her to be. He understood the woman who made a mistake in the past and who is constantly being judged till this day. He saw the real Meredith Hobbs, flaws and all. He also saw a woman who has one of the biggest and most beautiful heart ever. She loved Kyle’s sons like they were her own. As Kyle and Meredith continued their secret romance, what happens when insecurities, gossip, and Kyle’s mother tries to tear them apart? Will Meredith find a way to get past her doubts, fears, and insecurities? And will Kyle Lockhart be able to see that this connection between him and Meredith is more than a physical sexual attraction but a second chance at real love?

#DrawnDeeper (1)

Drawn Deeper may be set in a small town but there is nothing small about Kyle and Meredith’s love. This book was the epitome of second chances and overcoming your fear and insecurities. I am a big fan of strong heroines and Meredith Hobbs is indeed a strong relatable heroine as she was able to overcome her biggest fear and insecurity of being worthy enough to love and be loved. I loved seeing the character growth of Meredith as she blossomed into one true and honest characters of the Lockhart Brothers Series. Brenda Rothert did a phenomenal job weaving elements of steam, passion, truth, and vulnerability as readers were able to witness and be drawn deeper to the connection of Kyle and Meredith. So if you are looking for a story where the writing was beautifully well executed and the romance was full of heart then Drawn Deeper is the book for you.

Ever feel like you are in a character rut where all the characters are painted with the same brushstroke and bucket of paint? Well, look no further than Drawn Deeper. Brenda Rothert has given us Kyle Lockhart to be that breath of fresh reading. This novel is part of a series that can definitely be read as a standalone, but strongly urge you to read the preceding novels for the character arc of Kyle and Meredith. To be honest, I read Deep Down and almost skipped In Deep. (Yeah, I know stupid girl). But I didn't. And in the vein of honesty, I'm glad I got to know them as secondary characters first. Now onto my enjoyment of this story...

First, Meredith? Okay, maybe I was in a bubble. But I thought I was not supposed to like her. I love when authors give me a character I'm not interested in HEA and gives me one. It gives you hope that everyone deserves to be loved. Next and most importantly - Kyle. Go back to the first sentence of the review. Okay now: Heartbroken man, left to pick up the pieces, trampled on emotionally, financially, and physically deprived. You know the character? He holds the grudge on those feelings and is not going to allow anyone to break down those walls. Got the character? Okay now toss him away with yesterday's trash because that is NOT Dr. Lockhart! Kyle is loyal, trusting, open and giving. All the swoon worthiness wrapped up in a tall drink of water. Yes, Meredith and Kyle have some hiccups along the way, but what relationship doesn't. Ms Rothert gives you an enjoyable tale of second chances to get lost in.

Now, I have claimed Mason (In Deep) as my book boyfriend. However, as much as I love that smart mouthed man, I LOVED Kyle and Meredith's story even more. Do you really need to read the entire series? No but consider yourself warned you should. If you are a first time reader for Brenda Rothert - start with the Lockhart brothers series book 1 before jumping to this one - you won't be sorry. If you read the previous book, she definitely gives you a story to read over and over again. 5 out of 5 stars.

A couple minor spoilers if you have not read the first two books!

OMG this book was one of Brenda's best! I t was my favorite in the three Lockhart Brothers series, the first two being Deep Down and In Deep. I really enjoyed the reality of Kyle's life as a single dad and also enjoyed learning more about Meredith and seeing her develop as a character that the reader knows as more than just the woman who didn't marry Reed. I really felt for her that she had to live in Lovely with that stigma hanging over her head.

Also, Brenda writes great parent/child relationships, such as Meredith's with her dad. I also enjoyed the characterization of Jordan and Eric, who are Kyle's two children. Laughs all around with how cute they are.

Overall, just a great book! I really enjoyed it.

Kyle is a doctor who has two boys and divorced after his wife's addiction problem. Having to do everything as a single dad has been touch for him and the boys. Meredith used to be engaged to his brother Reed but things didn't work out and she basically was not in great terms with his family. Meredith winds up meeting Kyle with a health concern and they get to talking. Kyle tells her he needs help with the boys school work and Meredith agrees to help. She works with the boys and they grow to liking her and soon Kyle develops feelings for her as well. But is this right and can his family agree to be fine with it? Will past relationships get in the way?

Drawn Deeper is one of those books that the minute it hit my reading device, I was gone for. Which really shouldn’t have surprised me, because I did the EXACT. SAME. THING. with the first two books in the Lockhart Brothers series – Deep Down and In Deep – I devoured every last word and it was HEAVEN.

This series is a set in a very small town around a very close-knit family and Brenda Rothert has captured both in a way that is just pitch perfect. As a reader, you are transported to Lovely, Missouri and get to know the heart of this community through its citizens, its secrets and favorite eateries. This one of my favorite elements of not only this series, but in particular, Drawn Deeper.

Drawn Deeper is a story about second chances…. redemption and it plays out so perfectly here. Thing about a small town is that it’s memory is very, very long. Meredith Hobbs has events in her past that are her crosses to bear and she does so with an amazing grace and humor. But she is more than the impetuous 21-year old girl that she once was and we get to know the woman that wants the most basic things — to be a part of her community, sharing her time and talents; friends and to find the person with whom she can share her heart. I adored Meredith and she is proof-positive of someone who deserves more than summary judgement. I loved getting to know her – she proved to be the perfect heroine.

I have been waiting for Dr. Kyle Lockhart’s story and it was sooooo worth it!! He is everything I was expecting and more. As the oldest of the Lockhart’s, he wears his obligations like a mantel and when his world is up-ended, he wades and muddles through life to find a balance that works for he and his kids. Is it perfect? Oh, hell no. And in those moments we get so see the absolute true measure of his man – the strength of his love for his boys, his devotion to his family and the commitment to his hometown. But it is Meredith that brings the spice into his life in all the best ways.

But ultimately, this is a love story between two people who despite the messiness of life or raised eyebrows of their community, belong together. The growth of their relationship was sweet and incredibly sexy with a pent-up energy that when it was unleashed positively vibrated off the page.

Grab Drawn Deeper and venture to wonderful Lovely, Missouri. In Dr. Kyle Lockhart and Meredith Hobbs, Brenda Rothert has conjured the perfect tour guides, who’s heart-melting story will keep you wanting more. ENJOY!!!

Happy reading!!

And we are up to the third book and its oldest brother Kyle turn. In book one he is in a very bad marriage. We don’t see that much as it’s his brothers’ book, but we see enough to feel bad for him and his two sons. In the second book, he and his wife were separated and getting divorced. And now in his story he’s divorced, his wife up and left Kyle and their two sons without even letting them know where she was, He’s living a very busy life as a surgeon and a single father. He has changed his lifestyle completely over the course of the books. He’s cut way back on his working life in order to be there for his family.

Meredith is his love interest. We briefly met to her in the first book. When she was much younger, she was to marry Reed but left him at the altar. As the Lockharts are a leading family in Lovely, Meredith becomes the town pariah. And the people hold long grudges. A number of years after “The Incident” Kyle and Meredith run into each other and Meredith offers to help tutor one of Kyles’ sons. The boys are motherless because of their mother’s desertion and they take to Meredith. Kyle also sees her in a new light as an attractive and loyal woman on her own and not just the woman who left his brother at the altar and the more he gets to know her the more attracted he becomes to her. But there are big roadblocks. She was engaged to his brother so there is that hurdle. His mother holds probably the biggest grudge and would be horrified if he got involved with Meredith after what she did to the family. There is her own reluctance. She’s coming to care for Kyle a lot too, but knows her name in mud in the town.

But love can’t be denied. Reed has no issues with the two of them together and Kyle stands up to his mother and lets her know that it’s his life.

As with the first two books, I continue my love for these books and these characters and like them, this one also gets high marks. Kyle and Meredith are great, I like seeing the people from previous books and even Kyles’ two kids, Jordan and Eric are well written and believable brothers.
So if you thinking of reading this book but kind of hesitating, no need to. It’s well worth reading.

If there's anything I enjoy reading it's a book about a single dad.. These are my favorite and Brenda Rothert did not disappoint.

This is book 3 in the Lockhart Brothers series. I did not read the previous 2, I was told it could be read as a standalone. I felt I didn't need to read the others to thoroughly enjoy this book but after loving it, I am going back to read Deep Down and In Deep.

Kyle is a single dad who is trying to raise his boys after his alcoholic wife left him and the kids. He used to be a workaholic but now he cut back his hours as a surgeon to spend more time with his boys. We meet Meredith as one of his patients, but they've know each other for years. He wasn't supposed to have feelings for her and vice versa. They start out slow. She's tutoring his boys and they begin to spend more time together and feelings develop. His mom isn't happy about this because of Meredith's past with his family.

I immediately was drawn to this story. I fell in love with Kyle and Meredith, they were meant to be together. I am a fan of the Lockhart brothers and now I will start reading Deep Down.

What a great book! This is my first book by this author but if definitely won't be my last. Now I am dying to go back and read the other books from this series and even though I haven't read the others I wasn't lost at all so this is a true stand alone.
Meredith and Kyle are wonderful characters. She is a lonely woman who years ago did what she knew was right and still is gossiped about around town. Being left out of the small town functions and giving up her dreams has made her a very lonely person.
Kyle is the town surgeon, his alcoholic wife left him and their two sons a year ago and he is just existing. Between work and being Mister Mom his days are very lonely.
When Meredith offers to help Tutor the boys for Kyle things start changing and feelings start developing. Only thing she is the last person he should be falling for. Can they work?
Drawn Deeper is really a great book and the writing was wonderful. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

One of the most painful books to read in a while. Sometimes this surgeon goes sound just telling peoples medical business to his family, including when someone got SA’d?? And then other times he’s like “I can’t share that”. I’m sorry but HIPAA isn’t something that only happens when you feel like it.

Also genuinely there was 0 chemistry between the two characters. I’ve never read a book so cringey in their interaction

Review by Jen Skewes

Drawn Deeper is the third book in this series and Kyle Lockhart’s story. I love this series and could not wait for his book. After meeting him in the first two books and seeing all that he has been going through with his ex wife I wanted to see him find someone who would love him unconditionally and for him to find his happily ever after.

It has been about 10 months since his divorce and right now the most important thing in Kyle’s life is his two boys. When he was married he may not have always been there for them because of his long and crazy hours as a surgeon. But everything in his life has changed and his kids come before anything. He has no plans of meeting anyone right now. It’s just him and his boys and that is all he needs. Until Meredith comes into his life, changing everything he thought he wanted and needed.

Meredith doesn't have the best reputation in the small town of Lovely and the Lockharts are not exactly her biggest fan right now. But talking to Kyle Lockhart, spending time with him and his children sparks something in her. When she came back to town because her father needed her she never thought she would find someone that made her feel. Not in this town and especially not a Lockhart. But Kyle is this amazing man who loves his children and makes her feel special. Being with him even just as friends at first is easy for her. They certainly have a connection and loving his children is the icing on the cake. But can Kyle and Meredith really have any sort of relationship together? Given the way their families feel about each other as well as their history will their relationship be accepted by all?

First I must say that where Kyle Lockhart is concerned, Ms. Rothert did not disappoint. Just the way that man loved his kids, and how he completely stepped up when it was time to really be a father alone made my heart swoon. But then throw in the way he was with Meredith and that just made me fall in love with him even more. He never treated her like anything other than the person that she was. He never held her past with his brother against her. He was kind and sweet and the two of them together had such great chemistry. They both had their issues where love was concerned but together they were able to move on from it.

Meredith was a wonderful heroine. I honestly never faulted her for what happened all those years ago. Things happen for a reason and this is a perfect example of that. She really was a caring person and I loved how much she fell for not only Kyle but his two boys. She was there for them and loved them and cared for them at a time when they really needed it. There was a moment towards the end that I absolutely loved. It was a moment between Meredith and one of the other Lockhart women and it just proved how you truly can move and and how there are people who can move on from the past and live in the present. It really was a touching moment that I loved. This was another fantastic story from Ms. Rothert. I loved seeing all of the Lockhart men and cannot wait for the next one.

I have been a big fan of the Lockhart Brothers since I first discovered them. This is the third book but could be read as a stand alone. I have been waiting for this one since the start. Kyle Lockhart is the big brother. The one who on the surface seemed to have his life together. After his marriage implodes, he becomes a single dad with the primary focus of keeping his boys happy and healthy.

Single dad stories get me every time. What I appreciate about this author, is she gave us a seemingly believable twist. Being a parent is hard work and doing it on your own is even harder. I like that Kyle wasn't looking for any type of relationship but once he spent time with Meredith, he thought it might be possible to feel again. It's the trap all parents fall into. Do for your children, at the expense of your own happiness.

Of course this isn't a smooth love story. Meredith isn't sure she can trust her heart again. She is the town pariah since ditching Kyle's brother at the alter. These two are nicely able to heal each other and find the glue that lets their hearts feel again.

One mysterious brother left to go. Looking forward to more of this family. As always, the time that brothers spend together is full of humor and unconditional support and love. Great read!

This book had potential.

I liked Kyle, he has grown so much as a character from book one.

Meridith from this book? I liked her fine. But I can't reconcile this woman who ended her engagement because she knew that reed was not the right choice for her, to the girl of book one who cornered Reed in his office, grabbed his dick and told him she made a mistake and wanted to get back with him.

This issue was also not addressed in this book, at all, that bothered me which is why I can only rate this 1.5 stars

Sweet Read

This book was just a beautiful romance. The main characters were lovely and so easy to cheer for. While this book was less drama-filled than the other Lockhart books, it was no less enjoyable to read. I recommend this to anyone looking for a good contemporary adult book.

I read this book in one day- need I say more? I loved the first two books in this series, but this one is my favorite. I swear I could feel Meredirh'a anguish from her past, and love the strength she gained from Kyle. It was an unusual, but fascinating plot. Kyle was a wonderful doctor, man, but most of all, father.

Definitely looking forward to reading this again!

Drawn Deeper has drawn me in as deep as I can go. I knew I would love Kyle, but wasn't so sure about Meredith. I loved her instantly though. The taboo relationship was oh so right. This book left the heart feeling full and happy. I sure hope we hear a story about the final unmarried Lockhart brother as well as more of out favorite couples. I'm just not ready to give any of them up quite yet.

Wow!! They keep getting better & better!! And this brother, surprisingly, was the hottest in a few ways. After you get passed the OMG shock factor, you totally fall in love. With the story, the characters, with the whole shebang. Loved this hard. Can't wait for more!!

This is a fun series. I'm really enjoying being part of the Lockhart Clan. However, this book didn't have as much of the brothers as the past two books did. This book didn't have as much drama in it, but who doesn't love a bit of drama, but this book was slower. The characters for more battling outside forces than themselves which is a nice change. I've come to realize that there will just always be open ended storylines in this series which to me is a little annoying but I'm still really enjoying it, I guess that's just life always open-ended storylines. This has been a fun read and I can't wait to see what happens in Justin's book.

Review2

The blurb for this book totally sucked me in. I can't remember reading anything else with this type of story line and it was just too good to pass up. A single dad with a forbidden love twist?

raw-1

Drawn Deeper is the third book in the Lockhart Brothers series but in my opinion you can totally read it as a standalone. (As I haven't read the other two prior books in this series and still was able to thoroughly enjoy it.) ;)

Our BBF for this read is Kyle. He's a hunky surgeon in is mid-thirties who's picking up the pieces of his life after his alcoholic wife walked away. His two sons are crazy adorable and it's totally swoony how amazing Kyle is with his sons.

Our heroine in this book is Meredith. She's no stranger to Kyle and his family as she's his little brother's ex fiance' who apparently left him at the alter.

When Meredith visits Kyle's office for a minor surgery, she offers to help his sons with their homework. She always wanted to be a teacher and because she's a social pariah in their tiny town, she has plenty of extra time. :/

Both characters were terribly lonely before they came in to each others lives and in a short amount of time they find themselves feeling more than friendship for each other.

I adored Kyle and Meredith's story. It's a quick, fun read that leaves you with the warm and fuzzies when it's done.

I give Drawn Deeper 5 out of 5 Krissy's Stars!

I think I'll go back and the first two books of this series now because I am totally smitten with the Lockhart family! ;)

Drawn Deeper is the third book in the Lockhart Brothers series by Brenda Rothert, but can be read as a standalone.

Almost a decade ago, Meredith Hobbs left Reed Lockart at the altar. After that, she became a pariah. She lives for her father and for her job.
A year ago, Kyle Lockhart's wife left him and their kids. A workaholic, he had to balance is job as a doctor and raising his kids alone.
A chance encounter brings Meredith and Kyle together. As she helps him by tutoring his children, Kyle develops feelings for Meredith. When he realizes that she feels the same way, they start dating each other.
But Kyle is afraid that Meredith will leave him like his ex-wife did. And Meredith doesn't believe she deserves a man as wonderful as Kyle and fears his family's reaction.
Will they find their happy ending?

I loved Drawn Deeper!
The story is amazing and I couldn't stop reading. It took me in a rollercoaster ride of emotions with its laughter, drama, and hot steamy scenes.
I love that Drawn Deeper has a dual POV and I could enter Kyle's and Meredith's minds.

Meredith Hobbs is a pariah in Lovely, even if it has passed almost a decade since she left Reed at the altar. She feels lonely, with no one to confide. She gave up her dream of becoming a teacher so she could help her father and work for him. In the beginning of the book, Meredith is an insecure and lonely woman. But throughout the book, she changes a lot. I loved seeing her grow!
Kyle Lockhart is now a single father of two boys. He used to be an workaholic and didn't notice that his marriage and his wife were falling apart, until his wife left him. He is a very sweet and kind guy that made me swoon a lot. But when he let his alpha side come out? Oh my god! He had me drooling. So hot! He is perfect!

Brenda Rothert gives us a fantastic book, flawlessly written, making it easy to connect with the incredible story and the great characters she created.
Can't wait to read more about the Lockhart brothers!

My Review in a Nutshell:

It’s a bold move to bring back a character that is despised, and impressive when it results in a flawless story. Drawn Deeper is hands down the most realistic romance I have read. I felt connected with the story and characters, so much so, I read it in one sitting. Okay, two sittings, I had to stop and eat. After the “choking on a hot wing while reading” debacle, I was banned from multi-tasking. Ugh.

What’s It All About?

Introducing…Kyle Lockhart! The freshly divorced doctor who has only been with ONE woman. Yes, you read that right, and the woman was a shrew. Kyle has finally found a new normal post-divorce, raising two heart-broken sons and managing a successful career as a surgeon are his main priorities. Love being put on the back-burner with his plate already entirely too full. So imagine his surprise when he finds himself DROOLING over Meredith, yes, you read that right too. The same Meredith who left Reed Lockhart at the altar, leading Grace Lockhart to turn her into the town pariah. Add in the psycho ex-wife Kim, who has fallen off the map, and you just know the shit will ultimately hit the fan.

My Thoughts?

I am loving the diversity of this series, each standing on their own two feet with unique characters and polar-opposite plot-lines! Kyle and Meredith are no non-sense characters, they don’t play games, and for the most part are emotionally sound. No “finding myself” plot-line, or “I need to be fixed by love” drama that overhauls the story, and OMG was it a breath of fresh air. Without having to focus so much on a characters self-revelations, the story was able to blossom in more ways than one. Predominately the ideal of second chances for divorcees, and the not so common Runaway Brides, completely inspiring. And oh-my-lordy, the DOUBLE Mama Drama that is Grace Lockhart and Kim Lockhart, I could smack them both senseless. They’re the perfect villains, causing even more perfect real-life dilemmas for the lovebirds. I fell in love hard with both characters and their hot and steamy romance. I’ve never swooned so badly for a book-man in my life. And Brenda, you turned Meredith “the Wicked Witch of Lovely”, into a delightful misunderstood character who I adore, well done!

I am devouring all that the brothers have to offer. Drawn Deeper, especially. It was an effortlessly intriguing plot-line, filled with impending doom, just the way I like it. I CAN NOT wait to see what else is in store for the Lovely Lockhart brothers next!

Drawn Deeper is more than a love story, its a story of embracing possibilities and finding yourself.

This is an incredibly sweet, emotional and sexy romance. I am a huge Brenda Rothert fan, and have many of her works but this was the first book that I had read in the the Lockhart Brothers series, and it can be easily read as a standalone. Drawn Deeper can be viewed as both a second chance romance, and also a slightly taboo romance as well.

Both Meredith and Kyle are incredibly complex, lovely, endearing and like-able characters. They both have a vulnerability attributed from their pasts.

Meredith Hobbs is the town outcast, she followed her heart and left her ex at the alter. She lives with the rumours and gossiping about her even though her ex has moved on and found his own happiness. Whilst Meredith is a daddy's girl, she also has an incredibly big heart and gave up her own dreams to help out her family.

Kyle Lockhart is the town golden boy and surgeon. He's a divorced single father doing the best to raise his two sons on his own. Between work and parenthood, he doesn't have time for a relationship and it's really the last thing he's looking for after getting out of a bad marriage from his alcoholic ex-wife.

Meredith and Kyle have a pretty instant connection and chemistry, and their attraction builds the more time they spend in each others company. The love scenes are quite sweet, but also steamy.

This book is told from a dual point of view and has a quick pace. There are strong themes of family, forgiveness, strength, hope and love explored throughout the story line.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found it incredibly entertaining and engaging, and don't hesitate to recommend it. After reading it, I purchased the other books in the series to familiarize myself with the stories of the other Lockhart brothers, and I cannot wait to read any more additions to this series.

Loved this series and really loved this book. I don't want to say the names and give anything away but I have to say I love the way Brenda Rothert builds her characters relationship up slowly. And I love seeing the family interaction and the "boys" that we get to revisit. Can't wait for the next book!

4.5 of 5 Stars

Brenda Rothert’s DRAWN DEEPER is a heartwarming addition to the Lockhart Brothers Series. Dr. Kyle Lockhart has been recently divorced and now a single father of two boys. He finally finds someone he is interested in; however, she has a negative history with his family. This contemporary romance takes place in Lovely, Missouri.

My heart went out to Kyle. He married his high school sweetheart, Kim. She became an alcoholic and left him with two young boys. He is a wonderful father and man. He is the oldest of the Lockhart boys. I love that he appreciates his mom more for everything she did for them when they were growing up, now that he is a single father. I also respect that he stood up to his mother when she was being unfair. I love how the Lockhart brothers support each other.

I love Kyle’s kids: Jordan and Eric. Being a Harry Potter fan, I adored that their puppy is named Hagrid. I also, appreciate that Kyle bought his boys a puppy because Kim never wanted pets. He wanted to make his boys happy at a sad time in their lives.

I like Meredith Hobbs. I felt bad how she was treated in her community. I respect that she left Reed instead of doing something she knew she would regret. She misses her mother. She is a good daughter. She is self-sacrificing. I love that she tutors Kyle’s kids. She is wonderful with children. Meredith’s relationship with Kyle’s mother, Grace, was intense. It caused some interesting tension in the story.

Brenda Rothert’s DRAWN DEEPER was a wonderful read. The story was touching and convincing. It demonstrates the difficulties and benefits of living in a small town where everyone knows each other. This is a story of second chances. The characters are likable and grew throughout the novel. DRAWN DEEPER was well-written and emotional. The Lockhart Brothers is a wonderful series.
