A spin-off series to the number one bestseller in Japan. Eren and Mikasa enter a new school- Titan Junior High! However, Eren's hated Titans for years- can he get along with his new (harmless?) classmates? Featuring all of the characters from the main series as you've never seen them before, this series is sure to delight fans of Attack on Titan with a human vs. Titan volleyball match, a Titan rock band, and much more!
I have to agree that there's something missing in this volume. There's plenty of decently funny stories, but no connecting arc. The stories seemed rushed into with little justification for the purpose of them. The throwbacks to the original series are much more obscure; you might not even get a lot of it if you haven't read the manga. Further, there isn't any romantic tension! Also, the pop-culture references are a lot less biting or relevant. Making fun of Cher? That's a decades old joke. I agree that the kotatsu was probably the best story. Overall, the volume reminds me of when Family Guy jumped the shark.
It was so much fun while reading this volume especially Levi's birthday party LOL. Everything regarding Levi is SO MUCH FUN. And the last chapter, 59 when they all participated in a stage drama, with different costumes and Berthold being Collasal Titan and Reiner being WAll Reiner LOL and Jean as horse LOL
This volume lost me a bit. There were many laugh-out-loud moments, and the whole kotatsu table story was perfect. There seemed to be A LOT of filler in this volume. Several stories with the gang just doing things that weren't funny, strange, or interesting. Just slice-of-life, really, which falls a bit flat. Is it supposed to be funny that they are boring instead of slicing up giant steaming naked monsters? Eh. This volume also includes some of the characters from the Attack on Titan spin-off series Before the Fall and No Regrets, so if you aren't familiar with them, you'd be lost, as they are not really explained at all. Not a lot of Levi in this one, either. Worth a read, but don't expect consistency.
