Calleigh and Adrian might have an open relationship, but she's tired of staying home. She wants Adrian, and his lover, Packer, to be all hers. Calleigh and Adrian have always had an open marriage. Adrian being on the road all the time has made it easy for them to have separate lives, but neither of them acted on their agreement to see other people until Adrian met fellow Aussie and force of nature Packer Stephens. Now Packer and Adrian are always together and Calleigh is left at home, missing her man. When Calleigh decides she's not going to let Adrian go without a fight, she comes up with what she thinks is the perfect plan. She hits the spa and the gym and sets out to find her inner buckle bunny, intent on getting her bull-rider back, and maybe on impressing Packer a little, too. She heads out on the road, ready to fight for her husband. What Calleigh doesn't understand is that her plan will be wildly successful and also the hardest thing she's ever done in her life. Packer is more than willing to play, but he's as complicated as Calleigh is emotional. And as much as he loves Calleigh and Packer, and the sexy games they play, Adrian has to try to set things right, but can he find a way to give Calleigh what she wants and make everyone else happy at the same time?
Texan to the bone and an unrepentant Daddy's Girl, BA Tortuga spends her days with her hounds and her beloved wife, texting her grandbabies, and eating Mexican food. When she's not doing that, she's writing. She spends her days off watching rodeo, knitting, and surfing Pinterest in the name of research. Following their own personal joys, BA and Julia heard the call of the high desert and they now live in the New Mexico mountains. BA's personal saviors include her wife, her best friends, and coffee. Lots of coffee. Really good coffee.
Having written everything from fist-fighting rednecks to cowboy daddies to werewolves, BA does her damnedest to tell the stories of her heart, which is committed to giving everyone their happily ever after. With books ranging from hard-hitting BDSM, to fiery passions, to the most traditional of love stories, BA refuses to be pigeon-holed by anyone but the voices in her head.
This was a bit of fun to read and gave me a few laughs but I honestly never thought I would say this, it just had too much sex! It seemed that virtually every other page they were at it like rabbits so as long as you are looking for a light hearted sex fest then it will be a good read :)
There’s no denying this book is chock-a-block with sex scenes. I lost count of how many times these three, in all combinations, made out. Guy on guy, girl on girl, girl in the middle, guy in the middle, voyeurism, spanking. Most positions two hot guys and one girl can get into; you’ll find in this story.
The plot’s pretty simple really. There’s a few up and downs that don’t happen between the sheets, but they are quickly resolved between the sheets, so to speak. I will suffice to say, given Calleigh was in an open marriage and her husband was sleeping with another man I expected some mention of safe sex, but they were too busy fucking like rabbits to address the topic. And sooner or later, when all three are having so much sex without birth control, something’s going to happen. I’ll let you do the maths and say the outcome was a no brainer, least to me.
One small niggle, was the amount of times the words ‘a little’ were used. (170 times) Not sure if it was to try to give the story an Aussie feel or if it’s one of the authors pet words, either way I found it ‘a little’ distracting.
I like the Aussie slant to the men, for the most part Tortuga got it right. Other than alternating between arse and ass, at times on the same page.
Bottom line, no pun intended, if you like stories with copious pages of hot three-way sex, with a sprinkle of kink – one of the guys liked his arse spanked – this book could be just the ticket.
Goddamn, this was good! Fuckhot and then some. BA Tortuga sure knows how to write menage erotica. I was in for a complete shock as I started reading this on my way to work. Squirming all over the train seat…. Jeebus. This threesome is amazeballs! (is that still a thing?)
Calleigh is determined to give it one last go at reviving her 8 year marriage with Adrian after the last 9 months being separated by his Rodeo tour, and his relationship with fellow rider Packer. So she works her arse off to get all fit and sexy, and then presents her case by ambushing Adrian and Packer as they wake up in their hotel room, on said tour. What happens over the next few weeks is complete flames. All over the place. But can the momentum last, or is this just one last play before Calleigh’s and Adrian’s marriage ends for good?
This is a novella, set after Book 2 in the Roughstock series, and while I have not read the prior books in the series, I am going back to inhale the rest of them as soon as I’m done writing this review. That said, this book can be read as a standalone, in my humble opinion.
BA’s writing style is pure country. Beautiful and gritty. I especially love that the Aussie’s in this story are convincing. Some American writers try to write Aussie and it falls completely flat, but this woman! OMG she nailed it! The speech style, the sneaky slang, especially for country boys, without going over the top. Pure joy to read. I’m almost convinced Texan’s and Aussie’s are the same….. Almost.
This was a very good story. I really liked Calleigh, Pack and Adrian and was rooting for them the whole time. I also appreciated the unique approach to the start of a menage. This is the first book I've read by this author and based off this I will be trying more of her work in the future.
Calleigh is an RN and married to a bull rider, Adrian, that travels with the rodeo circuit. They've been married for 8 years but they've grown appart the last few years and now she barely sees him. They have an "open relationship" and she knows Adrian is involved with another bull rider, Pack, but Calleigh has never taken advantage and just wants to work things out with her husband. To do this, she spends a lot of time getting herself prettied up and prepared and then goes to see Adrian while he's out on the circuit, hoping she get him back by accepting Pack as well.
Adrian loves his wife but things haven't been the best between them. When he got involved with Pack he felt strange about it even though they have an open relationship because Pack is more to him than just sex. This inability to resolve his 2 relationships has kept him from going home for 9 months. He's extremely surprised when she shows up in his hotel room, asking him and Pack to allow her to travel on the circuit with them and allow her to join in and "play".
Pack is a bull rider from Australia. He's been involved with Adrian for a while and had met Calleigh a few times but never got to know her. Pack is a good guy and cares for Adrian so he encourages him to include Calleigh when he sees how much she's trying to make things work with Adrian.
Things don't go smoothly when Calleigh proposes her joining Adrian and Pack. Adrian freaks a little and, since it took most all of Calleigh's courage to make the proposition, when he doesn't seem to be taking it well she tells him never mind and leaves her wedding ring on the table before walking out. Adrian doesn't go after her and Pack basically tells him off for being a wanker about it because it's obvious Calleigh is making a big effort and Adrian isn't really trying. Fortunately, Adrian ends up seeing Calleigh getting hit on by some other bull riders that evening and jealousy kicks in. In a caveman move, Adrian carries her back to his hotel room (with Pack trailing behind) and the three end up in some hot and heavy sex-capades. The trio has to work out the kinks of how things will work but they end up doing pretty well and spend some time travelling together (and having loads of sex...and I mean LOADS because while the books isn't all sex, it is a very frequent thing).
Things get rather upended when Calleigh hears Pack say something that leads her to believe he doesn't want her there. She leaves for a couple weeks to give them some space (as she's still unsure of just how truly welcome she is). Pack didn't mean it though and both men are upset without her there. Just as she's coming back, Pack gets hurt by a bull and is going to need time to recover. Calleigh agrees to stay with Pack to help him recover while Adrian stays on the road. Pack and Calleigh have a little bit of a rough time because she still thinks he doesn't want her around and Pack doesn't know how to get her to believe he wants her around (and as more than just a nurse). They do smooth things out and once Pack recovers, the trio are back together and stronger than ever. By this time, both Pack and Calleigh have started developing feelings for each other which brings all 3 of them closer, making them a threesome relationship-wise as well as sexually. Things are going well when Calleigh gets some shocking news and also comes to realize her relationship with her men might cause them issues so she decides to save them from this by leaving and taking herself out of the picture. Adrian and Pack aren't happy with this but they have a hard time tracking her down. They do find her though and are able to work things out and the men take her home to start a very sweet HEA.
This was a very good story. I really liked the characters and the story was very enjoyable. The only thing I felt was lacking in this story is Calleigh & Adrian's history. We get snippets of it here and there but there are things I was curious about. Overall this wasn't a big issue, it's just something I wish was explained a bit better. Regardless of this, I really enjoyed this story and I'd recommend this book. Thumbs up! :D
✰✰✰✰ Calleigh and Adrian had an open marriage, although she had not taken advantage of the opportunity, Adrian had a long-time lover in fellow Aussie cowboy, Packer. After Adrian had not come home for 9 months, Calleigh had had enough - worked out, gave up her demanding nursing job and hunted them down to give him an ultimatum - return his ring and restore his freedom or make a go of it.
Adrian wasn't ready to let her go and she joined the two cowboys on the road and in their bed. Lots of hot sex follows, but slowly Calleigh and Packer begin to build their own relationship, especially after Packer is injured and Adrian has to continue competing.
This was hot mmf menage and I plan to read more from this author.
A different kind of FMM book than I've ever read before. I wasn't sure at first about the relationship, I almost felt like Calleigh was an after to Adrian and Packer, but as the story developed you I realized how strong she was. I loved the way that the author brought them all together and how their relationship changed to include all of them in an equal measure.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
To date, I’ve only read the M/M romances in Tortuga’s Roughstock series. After reading What She Wants, I’ll be adding the Roughstock Sweethearts to my reading list because the author is clearly just as talented when it comes to writing the M/F side of rodeo romances. Yes, this is a ménage romance between a woman and two bisexual men (hallelujah!), but relationships have to form between them as couples and as a trio, so we have two M/F relationships, a M/M relationship, and the MFM/MMF relationship, and Tortuga writes them all wonderfully.
Usually, I don’t reread a blurb before I begin a book I signed up to review, simply because I want to be able to read it without any expectations and just enjoy the journey the author takes me on. However, for some reason, I reread the blurb before beginning What She Wants and I strongly urge you to do the same because the blurb serves as kind of a prologue that sets the stage for the story as Tortuga wastes no time in getting right to the action. In fact, the book opens with Adrian and Packer in bed together – at first sleeping, but as they wake and begin to shift and stretch, the friction becomes too much to resist, and I had to agree with Calleigh’s assessment that they made a pretty sight to behold. Despite the rocky start that accompanied Calleigh’s demands to join her husband on the road, the trio quickly found their rhythm together and it was HOT!!! But when their relationship gets notice from a jealous quarter and Calleigh is told her behavior is threatening the men’s livelihood, she takes off, leaving the men to make their way together, while she deals with an unexpected surprise. Will Adrian and Packer be happy returning to a relationship with just the two of them? Or will they cowboy up, figure out how to rope their filly back in, and tie her to them for good?
I absolutely loved this book. Saying that, I feel I should note that there is a LOT of sex in What She Wants, far more than I’m accustomed to in Tortuga’s M/M Roughstock romances. That is neither a complaint, nor an indication that the book is lacking a plot or storyline. The sex seems to take center stage because Calleigh is not only resurrecting her relationship with her husband, Adrian, but she’s also embarking upon a relationship with Packer, her husband’s boyfriend and best friend. But Tortuga does an excellent job of very subtly working the story in within and between the sex scenes, so while I suspect the book will appeal to those readers looking for some hot ménage action, it will also appeal to those readers who need to feel a connection between the characters and enjoy watching relationships develop. Although What She Wants takes place in the Roughstock universe, it is a standalone and can be read and enjoyed without having read any of the other books in the series. If you have read other books in the series, you’ll have fun seeing the cameo appearances by other characters, but their storylines are not furthered in this book. For me, the downside to reading What She Wants is that I now have another series – Roughstock Sweethearts – to add to my “To Be Read” list.
What She Wants, a Roughstock Menage (Roughstock) by B.A. Tortuga 3.5 stars M/F/M with some hints of BDSM (Very light) I was given this book for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.
This story was more of a feel good YA romance than a true adult story. There was a light story and the scenes were steamy, however, I didn't really feel that there was a story.
It was a rough mish-mash of emotions and the characters were mostly thinking with lust instead of what a relationship would truly be like.
I normally love Tortuga stories, but this one - the sex was a distraction because that was all they did. There was no meaningful conversation about how this might work, or whether or not they wanted it to work. There was a half-hearted attempt at conflict and even though I really disliked the female "buckle bunny", she was just a minor detail for me.
Overall, this was not my favorite story and that makes me sad to say.
Overall I enjoyed this story - some of the scenes are worth noting and taking notes! The fantasy of two male lovers is just lovely. There were lots of different conflicts and resolutions and quite a lot of sex. I probably would have given it a total of 5 stars - except there was a lot of sex...don't get me wrong - it was all great sex....but it almost became a distraction. Still loved it.
and as usual for me - I've picked up a book that is part of a world called Roughstock - and all these delicious cowboys. Going to explore another series!!!
