A Witch Possessed

Rate this book
Hildy and Chuck are desperate to begin their next ‘great adventure’, but the Goddess and Fates have other plans… to help the witch in danger embrace her destiny.

Until the Angels of Death, a talking cat, and a leotard wearing Healer invades her home, Zoe has no clue she’s been living a lie. Two claim to be ghosts, one claims to be her mate, and the other insists on her calling him dad.

Desperate to help her unconscious Aunt Viola, Zoe doesn’t know who to believe. But one thing is for sure, there’s a warlock named Alaric, who wants her dead… and dead she will be. When the energy balls start flying, things begin to heat up.

Will this band of misfits find common ground, or will magic as they know it cease to exist?

Strap yourself in and hold on to your funny bone because the little town of Bass Ackwards, TN will never be the same.

A Witch Possessed is based on some of the wonderful characters found in Robyn Peterman’s Magic & Mayhem series.

I have to admit if you’re new to Robyn Peterman’s Magic and Mayhem series, like I am, A Witch Possessed is a lot to take in. Immediately, upon picking up the book, I felt like I was missing something. That something being character background and understanding the dynamics between the key and secondary characters. Once I was able to read enough to pick up on some things, the book became beyond enjoyable.

Hildy and Chuck are two mated ghosts who have had their plans for a “great adventure” put on hold, as they are ordered to look after a lady named Zoe. It seems an evil Warlock wants Zoe dead. Why you ask? Zoe, unbeknownst to her, is one the most powerful witches in the world.

A girl couldn’t have more of a worse day. Zoe arrives home to find that her aunt is unconscious, the house they share trashed, two ghosts, a putty cat claiming to be her mate, and that she’s a witch who must defeat the Warlock and save all magic. Seriously, how much can a girl take? From here, the story becomes one filled with laugh out loud humorous moments.

Isabel Michaels has written characters who are so off the charts hilarious it becomes too much, in a good way. I loved some of the secondary characters. Hopefully, one in particular will get a chance at a story.

What a wonderfully wicked addition to the Magic and Mayhem universe

I love that Hildy and Chuck are back using their special brand of snark and love to save the day. You really need to read the Magic and Mayhem books that started it all first or you will be confused from page one. This book is full of the unexpected twists and turns that I have come to love in the M&M universe. The snark is out in full force causing unexpected bursts of laughter while reading with a few wet eyes from the sad moments, some sighs for the love and cringes for the bad guys. I can’t wait to see what happens in book two.

Not my first book in the series but the first by this author.

The author tried so hard to make it funny and it just wasn't. At all. Seriously a train wreck.

In the first few chapters we learn that

So no build up, no romance, and no tension.

Didn't finish. It was like a bad Saturday Night Live skit trying to parody a funnier original work.

Uncaged Book Reviews:

I liked the characters, and at times I laughed out loud at some of the sarcasm and all around fun. There are a few editing issues, but nothing that’s overly distracting – it would just make it better by a well-rounded editing process and it wouldn’t feel so disjointed and chaotic at times.

A spunky magical read

Zoe lives with her aunt viola. She has no idea that she's a witch. Not until her aunts ex lover comes after Zoe. Zoe is something special and Alaric wants her magic. Will Zoe die or find her inner witch? Many other characters are introduced and the witches dueling will begin.

dnf , i know it has lots of great reviews. I couldn't take it. love the magic and mayhem themed book, so a little sad since there are a lot in this authors series. I cannot stand that level of snark, you have to have some serious moments, to appreciate the humour. This felt like one liners . will not continue

Family matters

Well Bass Ackwards is every bit as fun as Assjacket. More sass from a missing twin who is just now meeting her father. Dysfunctional family has found a new meaning & you can't help but giggle. Of course there's an evil warlock trying to make a name for himself & we're lucky when familiar & new family members join in the fun.

Hot but well done!

New author in Magic and Mayhem. But carrying on the tradition well. Good plot, clever characters and very well written. I will enjoy reading what comes next.

I liked it but...

I really liked the story, but there was a lot that reminded me of charmed and I worried that the author may have copied to much of it

Wonderful story

Funny, fun, family, danger and romance every thing you could want in a great story. And an intriguing opening for the next story. What more could one ask for?

If you thought your family was dysfunctional, you haven't seen anything yet. Zoe, a nice 30 year old woman, is in shock to find out she is actually a witch, and not just any witch but a witch with magical powers far beyond the normal witch. She also has a mate named Nicolai who had been masquerading as her Aunt Viola's house cat but was in reality a panther shifter/warlock. Her Aunt Viola had been attacked by Alaric, a wicked warlock, who left Viola powerless and speechless. Zoe is also surprised by two ghosts who say they are her Aunt Hildy and her mate and then also her father, Fabio, pops in wearing women's yoga pants. Needless to say Zoe is a little stressed out. She also finds out she has a twin sister, her mother is a witch from hell (figuratively) who is in jail and Alaric is out to steal Zoe's powers as well. And that's just the beginning. Get this book to laugh out loud and enjoy the adventures of the entire cast as they work together against the evil warlock and his companions. Hildy is confused and frustrated that her plans for the “Great Adventure” to Happily Ever After have been derailed. She and Chuck are told by the Baba Yaga to head for Bass Ackwards, TN, to save Zoe, a witch who is in trouble. An evil warlock has vowed to kill Zoe which could change the future of magic as they know it. So the two ghosts pop up in the middle of Zoe’s frantic attempts to help her unconscious Aunt Viola.

As a fan of Robyn Peterman, it was fun to see her influence on this well done story, even to the point of recognizing characters from Robyn’s books interacting with new ones being introduced here. It was a zany, wild mixture that keeps you laughing out loud. I recommend this book. The craziness may take some getting used to, but it’s worth it in the end.

Zelda ! Now Zoe! Boy that Fabio sure lives up to his reputation. Join the crew on another adventure ( not yet Hildy and Chuck's great adventure) where a seemingly non magical young woman finds out about the paranormal world and her place in it. Seem her cat is really her shifter mate, her auntie is a witch, oh yeah...and so is she! A very powerful witch that someone wants to kill to acquire that power. Lots of fun, hilarious hijinks along with dangerous situations and secrets being revealed make this a FANTASTIC story. And who is the mystery woman at the end? Do Zoe and Zelda have another sister? I cannot wait to find out.

I am loving all of the Magic & Mayhem books in kindle world. This Novella had some twist and turns I did not expect. But loved meeting Zoe and Viola and Zoe's mate. The continuity with all these books blows me away. The different authors keep the storyline consistent with previous books by different authors while introducing us to new characters that fit into the lives of our original characters from Robyn Peterman's books. Off to read the next book. Can't wait for October to read the new series from this book.

The twin...

This is Zoe's story...she is Zelda's twin and if you don't know who Zelda is you really need to catch up on your reading!
I love how Zoe is strong, and sharp mouthed. She tells it like it is and takes everything in stride. Great story! Can't wait for the next one!

Great Book!

Great story in the Magic and Mayhem Universe series. Assjacket is on my list of book destinations I'd like to visit, Bass Ackward has now definitely been added to that list. Can't wait to see what other trouble Zoe and gang get in to.

Excellent way to continue the story and kind of a spin off. Great characters and still as funny as the others.
