Leading ribbonwork designer, Helen Gibb?s love of antique handwork transpires in another sumptuous book of ribbon delights. This eye appealing treasure, blooming with more beautiful bouquets?to make or savor? expands on classic techniques for manipulating and stitching ribbon. Blending directions for fashioning ribbonwork pieces of today with those of centuries past, Ribbonwork includes illustrated instructions for starting and ending stitches; single, double, triple, and figure 8 loop bows; flower and flower center knots; fan shape pleats; center, edge, and zigzag gatherings; blossoms, rosette/filler, pansy, and violet flowers; dipped, rolled, and pinched petals; stamens, stemming, and wrapping; prairie, boat, and curved leaves; and more.
I checked this book out at the library just because, and I was glad I did. I was surprised to find that it actually has a lot of really cute ribbon flowers that you can make with a few simple stitches and some practice. They are great for hair bands, hats, scarves,on gifts and many many more. This is a great little book that I am looking forward to getting for my collection.
The author is definitely talented, but I gave this book a lower rating because it qasn't quite what I was looking for. If you are heavily involved in ribbon craft, by all means, give this book a shot. Like I said, it was just not quite what I was looking for.
