Thread is a story about a teenage boy named Zach. He is a freshman in high school. This is the story of his first relationship and how it influenced his life. Thread is an inspirational and uplifting story by Ryan Manley.
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This in no way influence my opinion and all of the words below are my own.
2.5 stars I read Thread hoping it would be better than the other book I read from the same author, but no such luck. I've always found that third wall breaks mostly only work in movies and TV shows rather than books and this book supported that theory very well. The third wall was occasionally broken as it was meant to be written in a diary sort of format, however it was written more like someone telling a story than a diary. It seemed like the diary format was an excuse to not fully flesh out the plot line. I found the main character who was writing in said diary was the only one with unique voice, all of the other characters were very flat and underdeveloped. On that note I have to stick with the same thing I said for the authors other book, I see the potential in both the plot and the character but neither were given enough time to develop or go anywhere successfully. While I was underwhelmed with the characters and plot I didn't find any of the grammar, spelling or punctuation errors that I did in the authors other book which was a big plus for me! I also found a few of the small details of the book interesting, I liked that the main character had an obvious passion and when it was mentioned in was given the detail the rest of the book lacked. I just wish the whole book had that view and I am positive it would have been much better.
