One man's account of his journey to fighting in Vietnam, the trauma of losing an eye almost as soon as he was there, and his satisfied need to bust the system and return to serve. Amazing searing detail but limited on context and broader reflection. A few maps would also help. Four broken marriages plus that of his parents suggests part of the price paid. The derision displayed by fellow countrymen when Vietnam vets returned home brings home the schisms in the USA the war caused.
