Just like the other book, I skipped the appraiser sections so don't look here for a review on that.

So I had a bunch of issues with this book:
- This copy is from 2004 so it's pretty outdated when you figure it's missing all of the recent housing crisis and some other changes to fair housing laws that make CA even more inclusive.
- The practice questions are VERY repetitive. Many of them are the same as are in the national book which wouldn't be a huge issue except when it doesn't add additional questions that are just for CA. Example? The chapter on the Residential Purchase Agreement DIDN'T HAVE ANY PRACTICE QUESTIONS ON THE RESIDENTIAL PURCHASE AGREEMENT. This is easily the most important thing to know about in CA real estate and the book doesn't give any practice on it. The book even says it's really important. So three books and a few online exams later and I still have no idea what kinds of questions I might see on this thing.
- The questions are very repetitive. Like so much so that not only did the practice tests repeat the same questions as each other but one test, basically had the last 50 questions match the first 50 questions. Seriously. I'm very sure the real exam won't be like that.
- There are TONS of errors. Some are confusing and without explanations to the answers, I'm not sure if it was just poor wording or an actual typo. Some are just plain wrong answers. Like it said there 5,280 sections in a township instead of 36. I mean... really?

I think a better creation would have been just a supplement to the other Barron's book (which was great for not being state specific) that only had the unique laws to CA and only practice questions that address those. Because instead of rehashing the same exact question 14 times (without even changing the wording, I'm not kidding), I would have loved to have questions and the RPA, TDF, and CA specific fair housing laws since those are the most important things that I still feel like I don't know.
