Gary The Go-Cart: Wind Blows

"Gary the Go-Cart: Wind blows" is a fun story, written in poetry with rhyme and cadence. It is illustrated by the late, award-winning Sidnei Marques. This book compares Oil and Gas to Wind Energy in a way that even kids can understand.

Gary wants to go far and wants to go fast. He doesn't want to be slow like go-carts from the past. This book details Gary's adventure as he explores Wind Energy and compares it to Oil and Gas. You might be surprised by what he learns.

This is not your typical book about the environment. BB takes some rather complicated ideas about energy and makes them simple enough for even a child to understand.

After graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Civil Engineering, BB began her career as an engineer for Amoco. A true passion for the environment led her to begin working for an environmental science company, which is what she was doing when she starting writing her first books. In 2016 BB began writing children's books about the energy industry because she believed that there was much misinformation about how the oil and gas industry is bad for the environment and hoped to educate kids and parents alike with fun stories that are factually accurate. All the craziness of 2020 compelled her to also begin writing political satire. Conservatives were being persecuted and they needed a little humor. BB is married to Al H Denson and they have four daughters. She had no idea that life would take her in this direction, but she is enjoying the ride and hopes you are too.

I am a kindergarten teacher who has read this to my students. Aside from being enthralled by the lovable character, we had a great discussion about persevering and doing the right thing. It's interesting to me that my high schooler read it as well and we had an enlightening discussion about energy. Great book to spur thought and discussion on different levels.

This is a great kids book. Appealing character and illustrations for my little ones, meaty ideas for consideration by my tweens and teens. Well done, BB Denson. Write more!

"Gary the Go-Cart:Wind Blows" is an interesting children's book. The illustrations are bright and colorful. The sing song rhyme catchy for little ones. I like books that teach as well as entertain, and this book strives to do that. I appreciate that it offers a counter argument to the usual "Go Green" philosophy one sees most often in books for children. While I personally have some issues with the authors viewpoint (it offers gas as being more positive than wind energy but fails to own the cost of gas, the pollution, the dependency on foreign countries, the cost to the environment on obtaining and refining oil, etc.) However I do believe that finding solutions is only possible when all options are viewed completely, and I applaud the way this book points out one of the many flaws of wind energy that needs to be solved in order to make it a practical alternative energy.

Well written with lovely rhyme and cadence. Great illustrations that are very retro. This books tackles a controversial subject in a way that is easy to digest. Kids see it as a fun story. Teenagers and adults hear the other side of the energy debate that is rarely voiced in the mainstream media. I learned things on the last page that I had never heard before.

Young children will enjoy the colorful and appealing illustrations and lilting rhyme as they read about Gary's quest to go fast and uphill. They will delight in Gary solving his problem from the help and guidance of birds. To get the author's intended message in this book, children may need adult support and explanation.

Great little book to educate children about the realities of wind turbines, to counteract the propaganda they will hear through the schools and MSM.
