I loved reading this book since it's set in the area I am now living. The characters come alive in the years leading up to and through the Civil War. Can't wait to read the next one, Reconstructing Hillsborough.

I really enjoyed this book and after talking with the author and hearing that this is about her family made it even more interesting. Just bought the second book in this series and will be starting that one next. Have read several of her other books and like her stories.
