I read this book with a sort of healthy curiosity. I have no interest in being a psychic or necessarily believe in that, but it was straightforward and I learned a lot about chakras (which I am seriously interested in). While I don't personally believe in most of the stuff discussed in the book, I'm giving it four stars because it was informative and because it surprisingly gave a warning to anyone who sees evil spirits, telling them that they are not psychic but have an illness. I was super impressed that an author involved in psychic/spirituality could also be so educated on mental health.

First off, should have a DISLAIMER: FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY!

A cardinal sin was committed (this day & age) on pg. 20, when the author assumed every reader was (or identified as) a female! HER is NOT an acceptable way to refer to reader who identifies (or actually IS) a male!

On the mirroring page, (pg. 21) the author speaks of soul leaving its physical body at death, and "unconscious memories of what it was like to exist in pure thought form," as if this were proven scientific facts. Which all educated, intelligent, and reasonable people know they are NOT!

By page 37, when the "board certified past-life regression therapist, 'Doctor' Hathaway" offered such a profound and insightful statement as, "a negative reaction can increase your self-doubt," I was DEFINETLY having a negative reaction to this book, but my doubt was placed more in the author than myself, to be honest!

Page 42 was the last straw! The author demonstrated his ignorance by appealing to those grounded in the Christian faith, emphasizing the centermost (a surely intentionally-chosen deceptive term that just means "middle" and has NO significance in the importance of it) verse in the Bible. HOWEVER, having 31,102 verses - an even number - there is NO singular centermost verse in that particular "Volume of Sacred Law" . . . With the 2 verses in the center being Psalm 103:1-2, NOT Psalm 118:8. "Dr." (more on that momentarily) Hathaway apparently is not familiar with the term "research."

Absolute garbage designed to swindle the weak-minded and easily-manipulated out of their hard-earned money.

AS AN ALTERNATIVE: grab a cheap notebook and visit your nearest dairy farm. Ask for a fecal sample of an adult male cow, and smear it on the pages! You know have a book full of BULLSH*T for a fraction of the price!

The "Doctor" has multiple certifications - including an UNACCREDITED degree in an UNREGULATED field that grants him the title.

He has also completed a gruelling100-hour (!) training course!

. . . Knowledge is power - but this author is a Level 1 Wizard, at best!

Happy Reading!

First of all, I do not believe in Psychics, but the book was at least interesting. It had many recommendations for what it called psychic exercises to help you develop talents in that field, but they work almost as well as meditations, which I do believe help people.

I will give this book credit for also being inclusive of others beliefs. It does not say that any religion is barred from its practices, and seems to respect all of them, which is nice. At times the book does seem to expect its reader to be a certain type of person though. I am not that type of person mostly. The author probably should have been more careful with their insinuations about their readers.

Where I do have a problem with this book is one of the later chapters where it talks about psychic healing. The rest of the book is mostly about self reflection and exploring yourself, which does not bother me. Where I have a problem is suggesting using supposed psychic powers over medical treatments. I wish that this particular chapter were omitted for this reason. I would have rated this book higher if it were, even though I do not believe in most of what the book says.

For a book I picked up for about $2 it was worth reading, but I would not recommend this book for anything other than some entertainment. Even then, there are more interesting things to read.

This book is truly a guide book for the novice reader. This how to book really will give you the full experience. You will learn about psychic abilities and how it relates to you personally. It will guide you to get in touch with your own psychic powers. Everyone has some level of these powers but you have to make your connections and stay balanced. This guide speaks about chakras, your psychic sight, identifying and meeting your spirit guides, astral projections, mediums and spirit communications and this is not all this book has to offer you. It is everything you always wanted to know about this subject. Give it a read and you will not be disappointed.

A well designed and decent beginning book on psychic gifts/abilities. A thorough refresh for those already studying these abilities. However, at times, the book is too repetitive and cautious. I really don’t think it needed to handle these topics as sensitively as it did. It is a very VERY safe read. Helicopter mom safe. The practices are great and a perfect start for beginners and helpful even to more advanced students.

Good first approach of the vast psychic world. As the title says, it's a practical guide, and we feel the fact that the author is working with hypnosis in the methods suggested in the book. Not in depth, but very interesting.
