I'm a great believer that Hoban can do very little wrong and in this illustrated story, he adds, as always is the case, a dash of philosophy into the mix. It is a story out making a creative change in life and casting away a drab existence. In doing so, not only does the old man feel younger but he brings joy and happiness to others too.

This was a regularly borrowed library book when I was a very little girl. Then we moved and the new library didn't have it. And it was out of print. Fast-forward many years and it is still clever, funny, and wise. My children all giggled out loud. One of my all-time favorite books.
